Things you hate people say about working out

I used to take revision text books on the treadmill with me:)0

"If you lift weights, you're gonna end up looking like a man."
Oh, reallllly???0 -
This just happened to me today! I was doing my thing at the gym when a well intentioned old man came up to me and advised me that I shouldn't be using free weights or barbells b/c I could get hurt, and that I should just use the machines for a far superior workout. LOL!!! My trainer and I got a laugh out of that.
I had a the same thing happen to me the same thing the other day :grumble:0 -
"I'm allergic to sweating"...yes I did hear this...from a lame *kitten* cycle instructor who never does the work.
It could be true....my FIL is allergic to his own sweat. He breaks out in hives; big red ugly hives.0 -
My mother is the worst offender of this question:
"When are you going to stop working out like that"
Ummm...what?0 -
From a friend who could lose (quite a) few pounds...
"Yoga doesn't do it for me"
Me (thinking): Other than a large ice cream cone nothing does...0 -
my metabolism is down because I'm old. NO! its because you don't work out.
Or
I get my exercise chasing after my kids.. Unless you ran a mile after them you did not.
I use my nephew all the time to exercise. at 35 lbs he makes for great at home weights!
Love this
My main bugbear is a friend of mine who is skinnier than me running on a treadmill telling me that walking is not going to do me any good. I am over 200lbs and only just starting to workout. Give me chance. At least I'm here0 -
I had a short conversation with a coworker when I was in the middle of losing weight. Her words were: "I don't wanna lose a ton of weight. I wanna stay thick but I just wanna tone up, you know?" I told her she won't be seeing any of this "toned" muscle by staying "thick". Her response: "Well I don't want HUGE muscles like a man!" My face: -_______-;
And that was the day I officially struck the word "TONE" from my vocabulary.0 -

I can see why your friend might have said that. My trainer always told me start at your Max and then adjust downwards.Otherwise you will never find out what your capable of. I wouldn't recommend you start sprinting but anyone can slow jog even at intervals.0 -
For the person who said you will loose your boobs....I've heard that too, and I'll cope with the deflated pancake boobs that will ineveitably result if I meet my goal weight because they will be attached to a body fit enough to go where I want and do what I want. That's just an excuse from people who are unwilling or not ready to lose yet (I used to be one of them). Besides, that's what padded push up bras are for!0

"Don't become obsessive!"
Um, so wanting to know what's going in my body and going to the gym three times a week is obsessive?
My new fav quote "Obsessive is what the lazy call the dedicated!"
Also, had a friend talk to me about exercise, she wants to get a gimmic thing and I was trying to come up with cheaper alternatives that you know, would actually do something! Every single thing she came up with an excuse. So I hate when people say they want to lose weight but will not do anything about it. At least own up to it!0 -
I have a co-worker who also says she wants to stay thick and can't imagine why I'd want to be able to see muscles. It's fine with me if you want to be a bit overweight, you don't have to justify it, but don't try to act like I am doing something to you cause I am aiming for a more aggressive goal!0

Walking is not good exercise. Really? Go live in Africa for a few months walk as much as the farmers and merchants do from town to village and tell me you dont lose weight. I've never walked so much in my life then when I lived in Africa and the weight melted away.
I still think walking is like 80% of the world's mode of transportation.0 -
people saying they cant do it and giving up.0
-
"just stick with it...you'll start to get that runner's high". Yeah, right. I've never gotten that high. No matter how long I've been running!!!0

Don't use the treadmill....run outside!
Ya, if you want to move to Minnesota and go run with me at 4:30 am (today we had 7" on the ground with it still coming and 25+ MPH winds) in a snow storm or the entire month of January when the air temp is double digits below zero, and I live on the prairie so the wind never stops...please do.0 -
When a friend begs you to help her lose weight, so you take her to the gym with you, after waiting for her to shave her legs to impress boys, and then when you get there, she pesters you the entire time about:
"Did you SEE him?"
"I don't want to sweat, what if he sees me??"
"Do you want to go to BWW's after this?"
"You shouldn't drink so much water, it will make your stomach bigger."
After that lovely experience, I do my workouts alone.0 -
"When you stop working out like that, your muscles will turn back to fat." This little gem came from the weakest women I've ever seen.
I know that lady! She told me the same thing!! :laugh:0 -
You can't...I can't...0

Talking with friends and they are so impressed with the results I am getting and ask me all about how I did it. I tell them and make plans to go to the gym with them and help them out. They dont show or only go one time. Next time I see them they start bragging about losing 3 pounds on some juice fast/cleanse/pill scam.
Congrats I am happy for you.
Two weeks later....back to complaining about their weight.

"I want to spot tone"
"I'm doing this diet to lose 10 pounds in a week"
"So how long are you going to keep up with your 'diet?' "
"Girls shouldn't lift, or they'll become to bulky"0 -
You can't eat that, you are on a 'diet'.
Um yes I am making better choices, no I don't have to eat just a salad without dressing, give me the fk'n burger!0
