my husband to be is 7 years older than I am. my dad was 9 years older than my mom... sometimes there's a maturity level difference, but that has nothing to do with age.

The correct rule for dating is double your age - 20. So if I'm 35 that's 70 - 20... I'm only allowed to date a 50 year old. you are 18 so that means 36 - 20 you can only date 16 year olds. Or something like that.

there is nothing wrong with 18 and 20. 2 years difference doesnt really qualify as dating someone older.

I dated a guy once in my early 20's who was 10 years older than me. Age was never an issue for us but he was a *kitten* (I mean who breaks up with someone via text and is in their 30's!), so we split. I'm now married to a great guy whose 4 years older than me. I guess when you're 18, you look at age difference more but honestly, as long as its legal I say, age is just a number, lol.

I don't think age really matters (unless you are legally a child and they are legally an adult). I was dating a 30 year old when I was 18 and age wasn't a problem. My current boyfriend is 4 years older than me. I've dater younger than myself though too.

I dated a 20 year old when I was 17. As long as you trust him (for and with the right reasons) and he's not a creeper, you're fine. If you're 18, unlike a few posters are saying, it's completely legal, regardless of where you live.
