Hello everyone...just letting my breakfast digest and hubby and I are off for a morning jog.
Thanks Pinbot for the chart....though it is painful for me to look at.
...not sure what is up with my body, I am almost positive it is hormone related and I have been reading about the different issues...I have still not started my cycle this month???
I have been able to get in some sort of exercise everyday, but I fell off the wagon with getting my protein in, so I am back at trying to get that straight and I also didn't do any weight training last week, so I am going to pick that back up this week with some old faithful p90x routines in the mix. Last Friday I signed up for some tanning sessions...I was going to wait until I got under 200....but shoot...that could take a while.....I feel I am doing other things right, so I treated myself ....I am also planning on riding my bike into town for some of the sessions for the next three weeks....as extra exercise--- 14 miles round trip.
I am tempted to take my calories back down...my Dotor seems to think I would be fine at 1200 a day, but I'm not sure he understands the "exercise calorie theory" and remember he never has thought my weight has been a problem, because my numbers seem healthy???? he is also stick thin...kind of irritates me.....
Well Miss Sunday morning Grumpy pants is going to start thinking more positive thoughts, not let the scale ruin my day and just keep making changes..learning my body and move forward...all I can do is "just keep trying"

We can do this Super Pals!!!!

Victoria...glad to hear that Jenna is better....hope even more so this morning!!

Kendal and Carolyn - great job on your running!!! Keep up the great work.

Lacey (and anyone else that wants to do it) - ****warning**** - running is addictive. I encourage you start. Follow the C25K plan making sure to include rest days. I was given 2 things for advice that really helped when I started running. 1) running is more mental than physical as your distances increase 2) if you are getting tired, then make a conscious effort to slow down and then slow down some more. Most people tend to try running to fast to start and get frustrated. If you start on a treadmill, it is much easier to judge your speed but it is boring!!! I started the walking at 3.0 mph and jogging at 4.5 mph (approx 13 min 30 sec mile). It is easier on a treadmill since you don't have the hills. I prefer to run outside and it is hard to judge speed. I do like Kristina and try to start slow and pace myself. Most likely you wont be at the 5K distance after the 9 weeks of C25K training but just cont adding 3 min a week until you get there. A good rule of thumb for all runners is increase by no more than 10% a week weather it is distance or time. This will allow your body to acclimate to the stresses of running and make you less likely to get injured.

So Lacey - how was your closet shopping?

I've been good the past couple days. I've been sticking to c25k and doing some elliptical after i finish running. The sodium from the subway sandwiches is leaving and TOM is passing too. I hopped on the scale today. 229.2! OUT OF THE 230s FINALLY!! It doesn't count as my weigh in but I'm reaaaaalllly hoping that it will stick this week. I made some Chili Mac that should last me all week so dinner should be good. I will need to start taking lunch this week as I am about out of chocolate protein shake stuff ($55 for a month isn't bad considering its 28 lunches but still, I'm tired of taking it). So I am going shopping today to get some Smart Ones or Healthy Choices or something. I won't take them everyday but those will have to be good enough for now.

My worry for this week is that my birthday is Thursday. Shaun is coming over Wednesday and my friends are taking me out on Saturday. Gotta be super good this week....I want this below 230 thing to stick!

If you are worried about sodium, this may not be the way to go. Read the labels carefully. I used to eat them often but have changed to a salad with tuna or fresh veges in wrap with some avacodo or hummus, and 1 cup of soup (you have to watch sodium on these too). Reading the d@mn labels makes grocery shopping twice as long. Walmart sells Joseph brand Pita and wraps that are low cal and don't taste too bad. Good luck.

Glad to hear your running is going better. Congrats on 229!!!! That's GREAT!!!! I hope it sticks too.

Closet shopping was fun! Its nice to try on clothes and see them fit better than they did last year at this time! Yeay! Shirts fit better than the pants but that has always been an issue for me. I'm hoping the next three weeks of running will help the lower body get into more shape, even though I know I can't spot train like that.

I am feeling guilty about my purse purchase and think I might grab Gracie and head into town and take it back. LOL. This is a good sign I suppose. I am a shopaholic and don't mind spending good money on quality clothes and such but had made a new years resolution to be better with the finances and such. So yeah. Road trip into town.
It will give my husband a breather too, I was cranky this morning and snapped at him for putting a sticker on the refridgerator and eating my other half of the english muffin I had sitting in the toaster until I was ready for it.

Taking the purse back means finding something right before my trip to take my computer, etc. on the plane but thats okay. The money is better spent on a carry on suitcase or something. Sigh.....

Good to know that I should start our slow and pace myself. I definitely will have to get over the mental block of lungs and hear pumping harder than normal and just do it!

    Amber

I use Window Movie Maker to create my own c25k music. It can be kinda time consuming but I've also downloaded a backup song in case theres a week I don't have time to create my own.

Amber - I used Audacity to make my mixes when I as doing c25k. Depends on what sort of music you like, but there are lots of c25k mixes out there. it was time consuming for me, especially as I only used each track three times, as a new week and new amount of running/walking time would happen. Once I hit the weeks where it was long stretches of running I just listened to music.

Victoria- thanks for posting the chart. It's seriously depressing to see I'm the same weight I was when the challenge started. UGH. Definitely need to step it up this week and see where I land at weigh in. I will definitely look closer at the 2 links you sent me. I would like to work on upping myself to the 10K distance. I would like to, at least through the rest of this challenge to stay in the 3-4 mile range and continue to get comfortable. Next challenge though- I'm upping the distance. Only thing I'm worried about is now that I like running outside, how I will do when it starts to get hotter. I'm not good at doing anything outside when it's hot. haha!

Lacey- isn't closet shopping great? I'm wearing this I had totally forgotten I had. The hard part is not going out and buying a bunch of new stuff. I'm trying to just get the essentials, as I really don't want to be where I am long enough to warrant an entire new wardrobe every time I drop a size. Expensive and I want to be motivated to continue to fit into new fun stuff!

Blombie- yeah, you always have to be aware of frozen meals. When I first started, I ate more of them, but now, try to only do 2ish a week, as they are higher in sodium. Some times I just don't have enough stuff or enough time to make my lunch, so I'll grab one from the freezer. I always have a couple on hand. I just try and make sure I get plenty of water and eat lower sodium items for the rest of the day.

My legs are pretty sore today. A combo from the race yesterday and the 30 day shred I did Friday (not a smart move on my part), so no rec center today. As I don't have a group this week, I should be able to work it out hard on Thursday for last chance work out. I plan to run at least 2 of the days this week (3+ miles). I'm trying to figure out how I want to measure my weeks- I guess I should do it by challenge. Fri-Thur weeks, so if that's the case, I've already run once this week, but it was under 3 (BARELY), so I'll still try to get in 2 more runs before weigh-in and hit the rec center otherwise, as I want to do at least 5 days of some form of cardio each week.

Kristina - a while ago, I talked about coming down for a 5K in Ypsi on May7th but I have found a 1 day course on Rotator Cuff Injuries on May 14th in the Detroit suburbs and can stay with my Yspi friend. I don't really want to come down 2 weekends in a row. There is a 5K race in Chelsea on Sat the 15th - would you want to run in that with me? Here is a link http://www.chelseaheartandsole.com/registration.html It looks like the cost is $22. Let me know what you think.

Kristina - I also found a 5K race in Toledo for the Zoo and I love the shirt design on Sat the 15th. My best friend lives there so I could just easily plan for this one. Here's the link to this one - http://www.toledozoo.org/events/dartfrogdash.html

Victoria- both races look good! I'd love to run (well, jog) one with you!! Chelsea is closer for me, so I would be a bit more up for that one, except it looks as though for that race, you need to pick up your timing chips that Friday. I don't think you need to check in an earlier day for the Toledo one. I could do either though. It's only about a 45 min drive for me, though I am not best first thing in the morning. haha. What are your thoughts? Either way, I'd totally be up for it! Yay!

This upcoming week will be super busy I think. I'm not ready for the weekend to be over. I need another day. Oh well- have an 8am appt in the morning. Ugh! Lots of phone calls and client meetings this week, as well as my group on Friday. Definitely full on committing myself to eating well and getting in my exercise this week. Hoping for a good number on Friday, cause my effort this challenge has not been up to par. Say no to complacency!

The Chelsea one would be fine - then my ride home Sat evening would be shorter. We will figure something out for picking up the chips. Can we wait until after next weekends run to make a final decision? I want to ask the people running with me this weekend if they want to go too.

Man, we are all turning into such little runners!! I am so proud of all of us. I am actually looking forward to getting out tomorrow morning and doing my three miles. It's a good time for me to just jump start my day and get some alone time. I am going to stick with the three miles and then maybe add in some more mileage in a few weeks. I add a little at a time so I don't overwhelm myself. running is physical and mental. you have to build to the endurance but sometimes you just have to push a little. our bodies are truly amazing machines.
i had a great weekend visiting with friends and family and am settling in. my stress levels are down, but i still obviously miss my family. we went to church today, and it was so nice to see my little boy happily running around playing w/other kids his age. that was something he didn't get a chance to do in Ca. we didn't have many friends, and really nowhere to take him other than mcdonalds (that could explain my butt).
anyhow, things seem to be looking up.
Victoria....thanks for the chart....keeping it real! lol

I have a sneaky suspicion that this group just found it's second wind!!

well its late but i got my but out when i got home at midnight and started my c25k since i wont be able to do it later today (lol it is already VERY early morning here) OOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my legs and lungs are still burning. is that normal. my right calf feels like i have repeatedly slammed it into something and my lungs feel like i have been inhaling liquid fire. lmao at myself right now too. about 10 minute into it (including the warm up) i wanted to quit. i said "i cant do this. its to hard and it hurts" well then i stopped mentally and said "yes i can do this. just take it one interval at a time. i can do this and i will" my jogging (running?) was extremely slow because my leg hurt so bad but i still was jogging. i am going to rest tomorrow and resume on tuesday. i think also what made a difference was that i did it outside instead of a treadmill. i knew if i got on that treadmill that i would have stopped when i got too tired after ten minutes, but if i was out side i would have to keep going to get back home. but any way its late and i am officially worn out. but before i go I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ******** CARTWHEELS************* JUMPS********* TWIRLS******* FLIPS************* HAPPY DANCE*************

Amber - WTG!!!! Yes, it is normal to feel like your lungs are dying and your body will ache some in the beginning. Make sure to stretch after running for a good 5 min by holding each stretch for 30 sec twice. Here are 2 links to some good after running stretches - http://www.best-running-tips.com/running-stretches.html and http://www.halhigdon.com/15Ktraining/Stretch.htm

Carolyn - Keep up the great work. Wish you lived closer so that you could run a 5K with us!!! Increasing a little at a time is the way to do it safely. Yeah - I think I found my second wind. I looked at the chart, my goals and my life this weekend - it helped to prioritize things. My yearly physical is in 2 weeks - I want great numbers!!!

My mind must really have been rattled over my cat. I made several scheduling errors Sat and even put one guy on twice today (*sighs*). At least I figured it out and now have an extra hour this morning. Zumba is sound good. I call at 8:15 to check on Jenna. DH took the day off so that he can pick her up and then spend the day with her. Lets hope she can come home today.

    Have a wonderful Monday!!!

I was still at 229.2 today. Yay! My calves are still really tight from doing c25k on Saturday. Its perfect timing that you posted stretches for it Victoria! I was totally going to ask for some ideas!

I'm worried Lexi might have worms. :frown: I'm going to call the vet and take her hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday. I called Joey last night to ask her about Lexi's preventative stuff. I realized I haven't given her anything since I moved back in 2 months ago. I gave her the heartworm pill last night and was going to do the flea and tick thing after her bath, but the box said it was for dogs over 90 pounds. I'm going to take it back and see if they'll exchange it for me.

Joey called back twice after that....the first call was because he forgot to mention something about Lexi's medicine stuff. He asked how everyone was doing. We talked for a little bit. The second phone call was him saying stuff like "it wasn't all bad...we used to have good times....I know I made some mistakes..." Thats when I was crying and screaming at him. Lexi was sitting up against me and she started shaking cause I scared her. :frown: I hate when she does that.

Thats probably why I overslept BAD this morning. I try to be at work at 8am, but didn't even wake up till 7:48 this morning...and I have a 40 minute drive! ugh! I'm going to be here so late today! (5:02 to be exact)

anyways, its a Monday all around for me

sweet. I don't have to have an appointment at the vets. I can take a sample of her stool  and they will test it for $22. Hopefully this will save me some money. (then I'll just have to buy medicine....if its not worms, then I might need to take her in so they can figure out what's wrong) Also the lady said I could do a walk in. I think taking a bag of her poop will be less stressful on Lexi though so thats the best option for now.

oh yeah...and I just took break with my friend and she was like "you know how you normally can't tell when someone's losing weight when you see them everyday? I can totally tell you are losing!"

    Yay!

Victoria- we can absolutely wait on finding out if your buddies want to come before deciding. I would still be up for either race. yay! I wish more folks lived closer to us, so we could have a superhero run together! Are you excited for your race this weekend?? I'm excited for you!! Still sending my good vibes to your cat!

Carolyn- I'm glad that you're looking forward to running!! I think it's supposed to be nice out today, so I'm planning on hitting the roads for a 3+ mile run today. Adding a little bit at a time is a good plan- keep it manageable! I too want to stay around this distance for a few more weeks before trying to up it. I'm so happy that you're getting settled in and the stress levels are starting to decrease. I hope things continue to go well for you!

Amber- way to push through and finish your run!!

Kendal- I hope everything is okay with Lexi. It's great that you don't have to pay for a vet visit at least at this point. And yay for your friend noticing you've lost weight!! That always feels wonderful, especially if it's someone who sees you all the time, making it harder to see the gradual difference.

Happy Monday to all. Today already has been a fairly busy day and should continue to be, but I think I might be able to skip out a bit early and get home and my run on. I believe it's supposed to be sunny (I don't have a window in my office "nook") and in the mid 60s today- perfect running weather, so I plan to head home and hit the streets for a 3+ mile run today. If that doesn't happen, I will go to the rec center, but at this point, running is on the schedule, and I'm definitely looking forward to it! I never thought I would say that! haha!

I'm feeling a second wind as well! Making this a priority again in my life!

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot everyone...been super crazy and usually I only have a few mintues to peek in on everyone, I do sometimes read, but don't always post! I love that everyone is running!!!! I have got my husband doing it with me on the weekends and it is so much nicer having a partner. We ran yesterday and did 5 1/2 miles in 52 minutes, we were rockin' it....he started out full of energy and I had no choice but to keep up....it was my idea:laugh:  , but at the end I got a second wind and was able to lead him home...worked out great. This morning I rode my bike into town and did some tanning, it was a 14 mile round trip, I'm feeling pretty good right now, but boy was I hungry. I plan on doing some weight training this afternoon.

Lets keep at it Super Pals!!!

Carolyn, so glad things are going well for you and how wonderful for your son to be able to have playmates:bigsmile:

Kendal, sorry to hear about your Lexi...my Bella had tape worms about a month ago, the vet said they get them from eating flea larve....???? I was like, she takes meds with her heartworm pills to prevent that??? But, somehow, she got them...it cost me $36 for one and a half dog shaped pills to treat her, but it took care of it! Good Luck!

Amber!!! Hun, way to bring it in the middle of the night!!! So proud of you, as you get stronger things will hurt less and then the pride will keep you wanting more!!! Great job.
My time on here was up 10 minutes ago...gotta run

Talk to you Super Pals later!!!! Drink your water and Break that sweat!!! Summer is coming....we need to be working on the shrinking!

    Morning Ladies!

Amber that rocks! Totally inspirational to me. If you can do it, I can do it. Tonight it begins!!

I think I am going to make a goal gift to myself if I keep up the program through May. If on June 1st I am still running (doesn't matter if its week 3 or 6 to me) I am going to either buy the Nike ipod runner thingy so I can track my miles and/or a new ipod. My ipod works pretty well but sometimes it won't shut off, and its 4gb and I'd like to have a 8 gb though I don't know why. I need to investigate and see if the Nike thing will work on my 1st generation Nano.

I agree that it is time to get recommitted to losing weight and get to it. I tried on all those clothes that are fitting again and it makes me want to keep pushing. The one thing that gets me is the fact that my upper arms have hardly lost any weight!! All thsee clothes fit better everywhere except in my upper arms!! gaaaaaaa!!! Total bummer. So I am going to increase my weights in the arm area and see if I can get those muscles working a bit more. They don't get the same work out as the rest of my body I guess!

Deb- 5.5 miles? :noway: That is so unbelievably fabulous!!!

By the way, I went down to the kitchen to eat my lunch (a health barley and black bean salad, and an apple... had pretzels for later), when I stumbled upon cupcakes... LOTS of them. Oh man. I wanted to eat about three- I sort of caved, but cut one in half- and took the smaller piece (more like a third) and it was SO yummy, but just a fine amount. Got to taste it- they were "foo foo" cupcakes, this was a chocolate frosting with a mandarin orange on top with a orange poppyseed cupcake. *drools* I wouldn't hav enjoyed it anymore if I had a full one- had the taste- it was yummy, but didn't need more. *sort of pats self on back*

It is gorgeous outside. Looking forward to this afternoon.

When I die, bury me in this outfit cause apparently it makes me look skinny! lol I had to take some papers to my team lead's desk and two ladies were talking around the cubical walls. They stopped me and asked how much weight I've lost and what I've been doing to lose and all kinds of stuff. Seriously, I'm just in jean and a solid green baby tee. Maybe all the designs I wear make me seem bigger or make the weight loss less noticeable. Oh well.

One of the ladies asked me if I had lost so much weight I couldn't wear my wedding rings anymore. I told them he cheated on me and we're divorcing. They were kinda shocked. She apologized for bringing it up and I said it was perfectly fine, its not like I put a billboard up saying "hey! I'm getting a divorce!"...so yeah...I wonder how my rings would fit if I tried them on.....

I'm back from New York! I only got in late last night. It had been a crazy week trying to fit all my friends and family in. I didn't have time to do anything. I have to say that I indulged on the foods I can only have while in NY. Pizza, Bagels, 7-11 Coffee, Pizza, Diner Food, Bagels, 7-11 Coffee, Friendly's Ice Cream, Bagels, Pizza, 7-11 Coffee, Diner Food.

Need I say more. No, I have not checked my scale yet. Oh, yeah the best part is TOM should be here Thursday unless I am pregnant, but I doubt I am. Even so, that just means another check against my weigh. Oh, well. Enjoyed my NY food while I was there.

other than that, still adjusting and setting up the house, and job hunting.....blah blah blah.....

    hugs to all

Do not let a good cheese go dry. D@mn. I don't know if you guys ever buy a really really good wedge of cheese like Comte or Fontina or something else gourmetish...but I bought this really tasty wedge of cheese, must have been a while ago. Anyways, I was being all stingy with it because its not cheap and I like to savor it. Well I apparenty savored it too long. Its really dry now. Not that it will prevent me from tossing it mind you, but still. Bummer dude. I brought it to work to take a slice off of for snack this afternoon.
Good "high end" cheese is a weakness of mine. I've been known to have about 8 different kinds of cheese in the fridge before, lol. Igourmet.com has loved me in the past. LOL.
My favorite favorite favorite meal is a thing of good balsamic and evoo with chopped garlic and spices in it, hummus, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, greek olives, good cheese and some sliced sourduogh bread. That at the table with a good book and a glass of wine....YUM YUM YUM. Its only something I eat when I'm alone.

    What's your favorite meal?

Carolyn- congrats to you AND the hubby! Excellent work!

Mish- I'm sensing a theme. You ate a lot of pizza? haha! Understandable- NY pizza is fab! Get back on track!

Did my longest run yet.... well actually it was basically the same distance as my longest before, just a small detour (construction) and an extra block made it about .15 longer- 4.23 miles run! *twirls* and it felt good most of the time! I mean, it was tiring, but completely manageable AND I was under 13 minutes miles (barely), but for that distance, it's definitely faster. I am getting stronger slowly, but surely. The weather helped as it's in the very low 60s, sunny, clear, and a small breeze. If only every day was like this, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from going out and running. I'm sort of dreading the summer heat.

Quick check in....did C25k. Not too bad, kindof boring. Don't know that running will ever be my thing but right now I need something to get my body jump started again so I'm staying committed to the running for 3 weeks at the least. I think I will commit to it thru May.

Made a great and healthy dinner:
in a 9x12 pan....lay a good layer of fresh spinach, put a big piece of halibut (like you get at Costco) on top of it. Mix 2 tbsp soucream with 2 tbsp grey poupon and 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese with dill, salt and pepper. Spread this on top of the halibut.

Cut fresh cherry tomatoes in half, put them in a bowl with a god amount of whol sugar snap peas. Add a bit of evoo, a dollup of grey poupon and seasoning, mix up. Spread this around the halibut but not on top.

Bake in the oven for about 1/2 on 350 and then broil on low until the cheesy spread gets light brown.

OMG YUM YUM YUM. And talk about healthy!

Jenna is home and doing pretty well. She is still somewhat lethargic but that's to be expected. I'll check back later.

Glad miss kitty is doing better :flowerforyou:
