What do you eat at a Mexican food restaurant?

We are going to our favorite Mexican food restaurant tonight and I want to stay on my plan. What are some healthy options that you choose? This particular restaurant doesn't have any nutritional information anywhere and it's not listed on MFP.
Thanks!

I usually get soft tacos, fajitas (usually skip the sour cream and cheese and load up on guac and salsa), or a taco salad. For a taco salad, I go with chicken and use salsa instead of salad dressing.0

Chimichanga plate, or one of their combo plates that have that as part of it.. then add some extra sour cream..0

Fajitas are the best. You can assemble your own and take the extra meat home for another time.0

Everything I can fit in my BELLAY.

I exercise a little extra so I can enjoy chicken quesadillas!!! And a few chips with queso. But only a few!0

Chicken Fajitas minus the rice/beans.... Lots of protein.... Very filling..0

Seriously.. I usually get fajitas. They are pretty good on calories and they are my favorite. I'm not super strict about it. One day at the mexican place isn't going to make me hooyge.0 -
There's this place here that has these super awesome veggie fajitas. So if its there, that's what I get. I've never been one for using the tortillas that come with the fajitas (even before changing my eating habits) so I usually don't eat those and eat the fajitas more like a stir fry, so I don't feel bad about some of the beans and rice.
If the place doesn't have a veggie fajita, I try to go for something that isn't smothered with a creamy cheese sauce or loaded with starch.
But I also love quesadillas.
I'm not sure the entrees at Mexican places are what make mexican so scary on a diet. I'm pretty sure it has a lot more to do with the bottomless chips and salsa/queso.

I'm going to suggest this as well.0 -
When I read the topic the first thing I thought was "Everthing!". Luckily I have more sense now thanks to MFP. My current standby at our favorite place is the Mexican style tacos (meat, onion, cilantro, hot sauce on soft tortilla). I will also split chips and guacamole with my wife.
I have also gone with the Taco salad, eating the salad but not the shell.0 -
I always get fajitas. I've always gotten that though even before calorie counting. It's a little more difficult to log since I usually don't use the sour cream or rice, but it's just going to be an estimate anyway. I generally let myself have one serving of chips because I never buy tortilla chips anymore. Enjoy it!0

I have never been to a mexican place!!! Makes me sad :sad:0

Yep I always do the fajitas without the shell (would rather enjoy my rice then have it in a shell!)0
-
Fajitas- veggie, chicken, beef, shrimp
Never order the refried beans- they're made with lard in most restaurants. (unless you allocate for it)
I also order the fish tacos if it's offered on the menu or tacos carne asada. You can ask for sides of lime and cilantro to help offset the lack of sourcream. Pico de gallo is really healthy and a great topping too. Instead of guacamole, ask for sliced avocado.
Also, the chicken soup is good too. It has rice, which is filling, chicken, pico de gallo, avocado.0 -

Puffed tacos. Alacarte. No rice and beans. I probably go over calories, but I don't eat out there all the time.0

If this place is your favorite, you already know what you like. Just get that. One meal does not ruin any "plan".0 -

You're missing out on life.
Luckily, I'm half Mexican.. I get the real stuff0 -

This is what I usually choose too. Partly because they are my favorite, and partly because they are just veggies and meat without all the cheese sauce and rice that accompanies so many other dishes. Though I typically it the whole thing.0 -
4 chicken enchiladas 3 chicken tacos0
-
Fajita----beef, chicken and shrimp with EVERYTHING!
Crazy Chicken
grilled chicken breast, mexican rice and spinach with cheese sauce pour over the rice & spinach!
Grilled Chicken Fajiata Quesidilla (oops sp)----grilled chicken breast sliced with veggies and cheese pour over in a quesidilla!
Fajiat Nachos
grilled chicken breast with veggies and chips........SCRUMPTIOUS!!
SALSA on EVERYTHING.....0 -
If it's authentic mexican, stick to something like carne asada with salad, rice... no beans unless they're not the "refried" variety. Stay away from enchiladas since they're typically covered in cheese and sauce. Fajitas are always a good choice also but I would skip the tortillas unless you're only having 1 or 2, they can hide quite a few calories.0
