MY FITNESS PAL - AS A DATING SITE

Hey Everyone,

I haven't posted on the boards in forever, so I thought it was time.

Over the last little while I've run into many people who have married/are dating individuals that they've met on sites such as this. They fell in love with others who have had the same journey as they have - in the struggle to lose weight. They said that it was really great to meet someone who went through ( or are still going through) the same trials and tribulations as they did/are. That by being "Pals" or friends and in helping to motivate each other, they fell in love with that person.

Thoughts?

So... sex is definitely a go but, falling in love is highly unlikely?

shared interest + long-term getting to know each other's personalities = a good start for a relationship

Thoughts? As in, that it kind of makes sense that people with shared interests in fitness/nutrition/health who post flattering photos of themselves might be attracted to each other? C'est la vie.

no harm in online dating if done safely. i know someone who met someone across the country on POF and they've been married for 6 years now. i've also had an experience of bumping into a stalker i had to get a restraining order on. doesn't matter how you meet...as long as you click and your happy.

I definitely try to convey how romantic I am at all times on MFP just in case something develops. I'm very traditional and my idea of romance is right out of Romeo and Juliet. I really hope I can find a relationship that involves two teenagers and ends with the deaths of six people. If this interest any ladies out there drop me a line ;)

    1) You have a common goal or interest to start off with.
    2) There are more real people on MFP. Been on a dating site lately? You get bombarded with messages from fake accounts with a link to their cam site or you get the many gorgeous people that live somewhere in Africa that just happen to like everything you do and want you to pay for them to come visit you. lol
    3) I don't know about you, the more I workout the hornier I get, If everyone else feels like this on the site then.....
    4) To add on to #2. People on here seem to love to open up to each other.

Thanks for the responses, folks! Again, I've heard it happening more and more often and was curious as to what people here thought. Yes, of course people with shared interests would be a great driving factor in falling for one another. Yes, those who post flattering pictures can and will get focus or attention, but I was speaking more about those of us who just truly come here for help in their journey and end up meeting someone of like mind and having an actual relationship, not just a couple of sexual encounters and calling it a day - onto the next. I just wondered if that actually could happen.
