    I go there every day!

I put on about 293 pounds since my first day, but I lost 50 of it.

I go all the time. It's not like you cross the border and they greet you with a tub of ice cream, donuts and burgers as a welcome (though I'd be into that). There's healthy options everywhere.

Though, I did spend a month in Chicago and gained 10 pounds. Delicious delicious food Chicago, well done.

Lol. I guess you haven't been to New Orleans?

    I have! Also delicious food.

Hello, has anyone been to America. I am going for 10 nights and want to have a good time so no calorie counting.

Has anyone else been and just had what they want when they want and if so, how much weight did you put on?

    Many thanks

I live in the USA and I've lost 27 Lbs....

You don't have to put on any weight coming to the U.S. (I assume what you mean by America). We have all kinds of different foods here and much will depend on where you plan to visit. You don't have to put on any weight whatsoever, even if you're not calorie counting.

Have a fun trip...enjoy...eat some good food...keep it in check, and you'll be just fine. When I vacation, I look at it as a good time to practice intuitive eating...portion control, etc. It's good practice for real life and it's fun to let it go for awhile.

as one poster said, it will depend on where you are visiting. North or South? Canada, US, Islands? Region dishes vary considerably, but 99% of the restaurants will offer something healthy. Hope you have a great trip!

Canada is now in America? Do they know this because last I heard many of them aren't fans of Americans.

Not mind blowing. I think everyone knows this.

Why, yes. I have been to America and have spent 29 years here. Part of the time I had what I wanted when I wanted and part of the time I was careful about what I ate. I have gained weight and I have lost weight. But I really don't think that has anything to do with being in America. That happens ANYWHERE. It's 10 days. Do what you would for 10 days wherever it is you're coming from or relax and enjoy yourself and don't worry about gaining a pound or two.

    This won't end well.

I guess it will turn into an "North Americans are fat" thread. Just dumb.

Today I learned that Canada is no longer part of North America.

You are confusing the continent (North America) with the country (America).
  • OP are you British? allow about half a stone

    - for the benefit of the none British there is something within our pysche that when presented with buffet food we take it as a personal challenge  and when we pay for an all inclusive holiday we will eat and drink as much as humanly possible in order to get value for money :drinker:

I will take the high road and assume this is serious.

    1. Welcome. Enjoy your trip.
    2. Try and eat at non-chain restaurants.
    3. If you must eat at a chain, do not eat at Olive Garden. It is an abomination.
    4. If you must eat at a chain, some Applebees are good, others stink.
    5. Use sites like TripAdvisor to see about local restaurants. Always trust the negative reviews.

If you are visiting NYC or West Palm Beach Florida, message me for recommendations.

And what America are you talking about? North America, South America? Are you going to Brazil? Canada? Mexico? The US?? Saying you're going to "America" could mean the whole Western Hemisphere....

    America the Beautiful

    O beautiful for spacious skies,
    For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties
    Above the fruited plain!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea!

    O beautiful for pilgrim feet
    Whose stern impassioned stress
    A thoroughfare of freedom beat
    Across the wilderness!
    America! America!
    God mend thine every flaw,
    Confirm thy soul in self-control,
    Thy liberty in law!

    O beautiful for heroes proved
    In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
    And mercy more than life!
    America! America!
    May God thy gold refine
    Till all success be nobleness
    And every gain divine!

    O beautiful for patriot dream
    That sees beyond the years
    Thine alabaster cities gleam
    Undimmed by human tears!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea!

    O beautiful for halcyon skies,
    For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties
    Above the enameled plain!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
    And music-hearted sea!

    O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
    Whose stem impassioned stress
    A thoroughfare for freedom beat
    Across the wilderness!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
    Till paths be wrought through
    wilds of thought
    By pilgrim foot and knee!

    O beautiful for glory-tale
    Of liberating strife
    When once and twice,
    for man's avail
    Men lavished precious life!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
    The banner of the free!

    O beautiful for patriot dream
    That sees beyond the years
    Thine alabaster cities gleam
    Undimmed by human tears!
    America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
    Thy whiter jubilee!

We've been to various places in America, but Florida a few times, and when I go, I dont watch what I eat, I'm on holiday after all! We're off there again in June for my daughters birthday, and I know I will be doing a lot of walking around the theme parks, so I am hopeful I wont put too much weight on.
Just go enjoy yourself, try new foods and drinks. I know I will be over-indulging in Key Lime Pie while I am there LOL
