Maid service, and other stuff you spend your money on...

Do you use a housekeeping service (or housekeeper)? A personal trainer? A meal service? Or other expenses some might consider "frivolous"?

I'm generally fairly fiscally conservative, with the one exception of a housekeeper. That's my splurge.

I was a housekeeper way back in the day....that now makes a lot of sense why those guys kept throwing money at me and wouldn't leave the hotel rooms...haha.

oh and to the OP....my splurge is a housekeeper (who I don't throw money at for other services :) )

We had yard workers, house cleaners, and a personal trainer for my wife. Even though we could afford it we got sick of paying for all that.

I would really love to be a bit more well off and have a personal chef and a personal massuese.

A housekeeper every other Friday. That's all for now.
  • Nope. None of the above.

I buy expensive protein powder and food.

I clean houses for a living, after a decade of cleaning hotels. It's decent work. I'm not rolling in the dough, but being able to set my own schedule and not have to divvy up the profits between other people (an old boss ran a team housecleaning business and often disliked having to split the costs) is really nice.

So I'm very happy to find out people want to hire maids.

I buy lots of frivolous things. Most of the time they're small, but sometimes a bit pricey.

I am a single dad with two kids, and a full time job with an hour and fifteen minute commute each way. I pay a house cleaner to come in once every two weeks, otherwise it just won't get done. I do well to get laundry done.

I wish I could afford a maid to come in once a week.

Being a single Dad things pile up quickly.
I would be thrilled to have a gf that would help.

I have a staff of 2- they may or not be classified in some parts as "child labor". Why pay for what you can birth for free?

I guess it depends. I only have 3 regular bills so I guess anything else would be frivolous.

Regular things I spend money on:

    Alcohol
    Eating out
    Casino
    DVDs
    Traveling

I am a cheapskate by choice but if I buy or do anything "frivolous" it still would be flowers for my yard or a massage or manicure. I am too picky to have someone clean my house.

    1) Housekeeping (every 2-3 weeks just because my fiance and I work long hours, and we have a pretty good deal on one.)
    2) Spa (massage, waxes, wraps)
    3) Nail salon (only 1-2 times a month)
    4) Blow outs
    5) Fitness boot camps (4 times a year)
    6) Car washes*
    7) Oil changes*
    8) Cable (because I lived without it for 2 years... we just came back to the dark side 2 months ago)

*Not sure if these would be considered frivolous?

Also considering axing my LA Fitness membership and getting an Equinox one..... frivolous?

I have a cleaning lady who comes in weekly (does upstairs one week and downstairs the next) and a lawn service that mows the yard every other week. It's the only way I can keep up.
  • We have a guy who comes and mows the lawn every week. A housekeeper would be nice though!

I like to clean, so no to a maid service...

I like beer, getting my nails done, my hair done, my pandora charm bracelet, coach purses, lululemon, cable, need I go on???

To some my gym membership is frivilous, but it has been instrumental in my succes so they can suck it LMAO!

In this country where I live now (as opposed to where I was born), everything is ****ing expensive, especially services. So no way. Everything is DIY baby!! Where I was born we used to outsource everything!! Like EVERYTHING!

I have a housekeeper come about once a month. When the kids were in diapers we had a cloth diaper service. Loved that!
