^ Just needs to pick the right housekeeper

I was a housekeeper way back in the day....that now makes a lot of sense why those guys kept throwing money at me and wouldn't leave the hotel rooms...haha.

oh and to the OP....my splurge is a housekeeper (who I don't throw money at for other services :) )

You just have to find the right French politician . . .

HAHAHA, outta of control!!! All that stayed at my hotel were navy guys with strange things going on in their rooms....if walls could talk!

I proud serve in the United States Navy and I can say this:

There are some VERY strange things that happen. If you walls could talk you would stick nails in your ears so that you would never hear it again.

Well maybe not that bad but some sailors get crazy.

If you pay somebody to do physical chores around your home and you're overweight, I think you've found the problem.

And if the individual is fit, then it simply means that he/she can afford it.

I think for most people it is a time issue, not a laziness issue. Maybe a little bit of both. Either way, cleaning your house for 1-2 hours a week ain't gonna make ya skinny so I say go for the maid! :drinker:

The way I see it, if you don't have 1-2 hours a week to do chores then you definitely don't have enough time to work out. Cleaning your own house won't make you skinny, but it's part of a lifestyle that involves more exercise than one with a housemaid.

Had someone clean house but was embarrassed by how it looked so picked up before hand. Wife and kids trashed place before I got to see it clean most of the time.

Now wife goes to a small group personal trainer to get a good workout before she swings by a fast food place.

Really wish I had money to toss down drain like this.

I would love to see someone try to clean any of my homes in an 1hr or 2 hrs per week. I would know that someone is cutting corners. That would qualify as tidying up and NOT EVEN light cleaning. Add human traffic + pets .... Nuh uh ...NOT CLEAN!!

Granted, many maids I see are overweight. I certainly would not hire them - they might have a heart attack or something along those lines. It's a risk.

.... or making time for working out is more of a priority and if you can treat yourself to a housekeeper twice a month, why not?!

Do you use a housekeeping service (or housekeeper)?

Both. Regular housekeepers for the day to day requirements of the household (I live in the wild, so nature needs to be controlled daily -less me). I like things clean and tidy, so I have them on shifts. That way, they get to work for the maximum amount of hours and rest for the humane part of my conscience. lol. I use the housecleaning service for deep cleaning once a week and deep deep cleaning per seasonal change. The housecleaning service is also extremely convenient after a function hosted in the home. 24hr ones are my favourites, most especially when they're armed with steamers and bacteria killing lamps. (I'm a SUCKER - Major SPLURGE!
    A personal trainer?

Yes. For weight lifting, aerial yoga/pilates/ pole work, martial arts, dance and other specialised interests.
    A meal service?

Lately? No. I do hire caterers though, if the volume exceeds my ability and time frame. Nothing beats cookin' up a storm yourself. ;)
Or other expenses some might consider "frivolous"?

Frivilous to others, but totally a need for me:

Estate manager, Driver(s),Laundress(normal clothing), Laundress(delicates), Linen laundress(towels, sheets etc), 4 gardeners(5 days per week - I hate hate HATE weeds and dead leaves/plants), Honey-Do-list(Handyman) and I house all my domestic staff within close proximity to my residences. I also provide 2 meals daily and a weekly supply of organic vegetables+ vegetarian durables like legumes etc to ensure that they are eating.

    ETA: typo

Wow Gemma you sound like you live in your own estate or something, which also has a wilderness in it!!
    Superb!

I'm generally fairly fiscally conservative, with the one exception of a housekeeper. That's my splurge.

I do have a house cleaner and food delivered.

2 gym memberships. grooming--pedis/waxing/highlights--i singlehandedly keep my stylist in business lol. Workout clothes--particularly smart *kitten* tshirts. If i actually ate like a normal American, i probably wouldn't have enough money for all this.

i do, however, clean my own house. you know. i plan to. someday.

I have a Cleaning Lady/Housekeeper once a month. Started this 2 yrs ago. Best Investment I ever made. I work 3 PT jobs, plus sell online and have 2 small children. I just couldn't keep up with the house. It's a really big help!! Next, I want to get a PersonalTrainer for at least a short while. Just need to save the funds for that. I have a gym membership too, but soon it will be free, they just hired me.
