I LOVE the Nature's one whole wheat not only because it has only 50 calories per slice, but also because it has no preservatives! It is strictly bread. :)

i just skip it, i'm a total baked goods snob, If i'm eating it, its usually because I made a healthier version of a muffin, brownie, etc.
eating standard bread just tastes like eating wall paper now. there's no flavor. so once in awhile I get some french bread or another specialty bread on sale, but generally it has very little appeal. there's no point in me buying low calorie bread since I'm the only one in my house attempting to lose anything, and I'm too broke to buy the specialty breads on a regular basis unless they have been marked down significantly. Same for rice, unless it has a great sauce or specialty rice, very little appeal and tons of calories for such a small portion that isn't filling. so I use my calories on what is important to me that day, I highly suggest trying some of those ideas out, it's much less of a headache now. .
  • Nice post! Wish I could buy it in Virginia. :(

Nature's Own has some 40 calorie bread, but I'd much rather stick to Dave's Killer bread (thin sliced) for 60-70 calories a pop. So much more satisfying.

Agreed - Dave's is more filling than a lot of the other low calorie breads. Worth the few extra cals...

Trader Joes Sprouted 7-grain bread. 60 cal per slice, 5 grams protein, 3 g fiber. I love it for avocado toast and with almond butter/preserves.

I currently use Coles Wholemeal Sandwich Bread which apparently totals at 140 calories for 2 slices. Have you found any bread with lower calories than this? I love my bread and have no intention of cutting it out, but would like to find a low calorie option. Thanks :)

Nature's Own Whitewheat is around 110 for two slices I think but I eat the Natures Own Whole Wheat that has 50 cals per slice. No sugar in it. It's hard to eat it after having the whitewheat but I get it down pretty good :D it's bland though.

Ive been using the Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran and Whole Wheat Lavash bread. Comes in big squares and are really soft. I use a half of one for a wrap for 60 calories, 6 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber. My husband likes the Natures Own Sugar Free Whole Grain bread.

The best low cal bread I have found taste wise is Dave's Killer Bread, 60 cals a slice. I have tried the 40 calorie stuff and personally I would rather eat cardboard. Flatout wraps are pretty good around 100-120 cals depending on the type of wrap you buy.

Probably not the healthiest because I'm sure its full of all sorts of bad stuff, but I rather enjoy Nickels 35 Calorie line. It comes in White, Wheat and Multigrain. It tastes good and its super low calorie. I'm not sure if Nickels is a national brand though.

If not, Sara Lee makes a 45 calorie bread that tastes good.

Heiner's 35 wheat or 35 white bread...VERY soft and only 35 calories per slice! Kroger carries it in my area.

Whatever you use, weigh it. In my experience, Hovis slices nearly always weigh less than the label. Particularly if you’re near the beginning or end of the loaf (smaller slices).

I was eating Aunt Millie’s Light Bread at 35 calories per slice, but I have recently discovered Dave’s Killer Bread (thin sliced) at 60 calories a slice and I like it a lot better. It holds me longer and tastes like real bread.
