My hips look huge :/

What you should do is a lot of wide grip pullups and other exercises to work your lats so then you can have a really beefy upper body. Then your hips will look super narrow! It's all about proportions.
This is actually what I need to do, build up my shoulders. My hips are wide, but that's my bone structure and there's nothing I can do about. Even the tech doing my bone density scan teased me about them0 -
I need to do something!
Standing there looking incredibly yummy is working for me.0 -
There may not be anything I can do either. I would like to tone up more though so I'm working on crunches,squats,lunges,planks0

Pull ups are a killer lol but I guess I could give it a try!0 -
1. You can't spot reduce fat. Lose fat in general and your body chooses where from.
2. You're hips don't look that big.
3. That's your natural body shape. It's sexy. Embrace it, don't fit it.
4. My hips/*kitten* are 41".
Exactly.
JustAGirl0916, you need to lower your bf% and to hit deep squats and deadlifts. You need to work them and you will build muscle and lose fat with a solid diet. You won't spot reduce but you will lose fat overall.
I think the OP just wants slimmer/ firmer legs. Doing the above will achieve this.

Thanks alot...I have been working on squats. New to working out so will have to see what deadlifts are lol. Sad huh?
Squats and Deadlifts. I personally think lunges are rubbish once you get beyond a beginner. You can't use enough weight.
Do not be scared to go a bit heavier once you feel comfortable with squats and weights. Women should lift heavy once they have their form down.
As for squats, make sure you can go as deep as you can. Stretch out your hips and legs before training and this will help you go deeper. More depth, working your muscles to a greater range = better.

I feel the same way about my belly. I've always had a larger bum and legs, but at least I had a GREAT waist. Now... not so much
Me too! Its partly why it took me so long to realise I needed to lose weight - I still had a waist, its just it was getting ider and I was piling on back fat (which I couldn't see properly )
Your hips are fine, your legs are fine, and you have a lovely flat stomach. If you really want to work out your outer thighs, lateral leg raises (standing or lying) will improve the muscle, and as others have said squats and lunges are good. But the size of your hips is dictated by your pelvis - you won't get narrower than your bones!0 -
welcome to the club0

brazil butt lift! try it!0
-
sumo squats are also really great for getting the glutes and easier to do for the beginner than azz to grass squats.0
-
Are you fishing for compliments?
That's what I think.0 -
nah they don't look huge, you just got curves. you can't spot reduce and it's probably just how you are built now.0
-
Your hips are fine! But hey, I can understand there's always something on all of us we want to change.
Sometimes we do have what we have though - even when I was a 100lb ballerina, I still had a butt. (It wasn't til I was older I learned to appreciate it.)
You might be able to do a little for your size, but not so much your SHAPE. And shapes are good btw.
As already mentioned here, you can do things to reduce fat all over but not spot reduce, so focus on that & love the rest of yourself.0 -
Thank you everyone for your help. I was told on squats your knees shouldn't go past your toes. I will try to get my form down before doing heavy weights. What weight should I be using on those?
To those who think I am fishing, I'm not. I am honestly asking about working on something that bothers me personally. I would never say you're fishing if you asked a question as I don't see that is supportive at all and I thought that is what this is all about.0 -
brazil butt lift! try it!
I've always wanted to try this and never have. I may see if a friend will let me try hers out!0 -

Yeah, it's your shape. I'm slightly pear shaped (bigger on bottom than on top) and no matter what my weight has been, I look the same proportionally. When I was 155lbs (I'm 5'6") I had big thighs and hips (big boobs too) and when I was 112lbs my thighs and hips weren't considered big but they were still the biggest part of my body and my boobs disappeared. That's just how it goes. I do lots of squats and lunges to add muscle definition which helps how they look though0
-
I'm a pear too, as much or more than you. I think when I get to my goal weight, I still will be. It's genetics, I guess.0
-
I guess so, don't get me wrong I don't hate my body or anything I would just like to slim that area up a little.0
-
No really though...how do you slim your hips down? lol!
Get different parents
 ^^^ Yep. Saddle bags are genetic.0 -
lol Well I better keep my parents I kind of like em lol!0
-
Please leave them alone!0
-
I think I need to tone it up a bit0

Are you fishing for compliments?
You obviously like your body and hips enough to make it a profile picture. The only person's opinion that will ever REALLY ever matter is yours.
Quitcher *****in' miss perfect hips. Mine can squash yours cos they're triple the size. So nya nya!
Oh, and have a great day. :flowerforyou:0 -

Someone suggested that you might try increasing your upper body - but then the picture only shows your waist, hips and thighs...but if you think you need to increase what's on top...go for it I guess.
From a male perspective, the proportion looks very sexy to me0 -
Umm, you look a lot hotter than I do with no hips.0
-
I think your hips look great. I'd love to look like that
But the only suggestion i have is leg exercises (lunges, squats, and some heavy lifting) to help lower bf% and your hips will eventually slim down0 -
