You results are class. Im at your starting point. Im now eating right and doing 3 rounds of boxing pads a day and going to start weights on monday. Im just wanting to know about did you have any stretch marks around your tummy, iv 2 kids and same weight as you did do you have any access skin cause of stretch marks or does it tone in. Iv alot around my tummy.

I have stretch marks from having kids. They fade, but they never go away. I also have loose skin. It's tightened a little bit over time. It may never fully tighten. That's okay though. I'm healthier now and that's worth a bit of extra skin. Mine is low enough it tucks into my pants or swimming suit. Nobody even knows I have it.

I love that you posted your success photos nearly 2 years ago & yet you still pop in here to reply to questions & motivate others. Your weight loss & redefinition of your body are amazing, but your behavior is truly inspirational. Thanks for sharing!

We all learned from someone! It's actually easier to follow these threads with the upgrade. I now get notified when there is a reply to this one and the belly fat thread. I don't reply to all of the posts, but I'll definitely answer questions.

I would set your protein to 1 gram per pound of lean body mass. Most people don't know that or even have a guess to what their lean mass is, so about 100 grams of protein is adequate for most women. After that I would set fat to around 25%. To set your calories I would let MFP do it by saying you want to lose 1 pound a week (it's actually a great number and keeps you from feeling like you are starving). Then go back in and set your macros by yourself.
  • Awesome! You look fantastic!

I am a cardio junkie, I love my elliptical but now I am down almost 50 lbs and want to start lifting and getting more fit in that way. I do planks and have an ab carver,( rolling do dad that really works my abs.) Abs are my trouble area.My legs are really strong, my arms are decent. I also just workout at home. Do you do any cardio now? Or just weight lifting? Also,do you ignore the scale now? I know a lot of fitness people don't use the scale that often. Some even gain weight of muscle so the tape measure would be more reliable. ....and the mirror. :) I'm looking forward to looking as ripped as you someday!!

I do one or two cardio sessions a week and they last a maximum of 30 minutes (usually 20 minutes). I lift 5 days a week. I track the scale, but body fat levels are more important than weight. Mirror is my biggest guide. Slow down on the cardio and start lifting. Not just ab stuff because you can't spot reduce fat.

One day at a time. It's more about discipline than motivation. Motivation is temporary. Discipline is just doing it. Plan meals ahead and set yourself up for success. The best way to do that is to make sure your calorie goal is appropriate for you. For most people that means setting your account up to lose a pound a week, not two.

I lied, my story really isn't about revenge. But, it started out that way.

In 2010 my life hit a very low point. I weighed 217 pounds and my husband wanted a divorce. The entire four year marriage had been rough, so divorce was a bit of a relief. The downside of that was having to move across the country and back into my parent's house with two children under the age of two. Being unemployed, a disabled vet, a newly single mom and being fat sucked.

I decided to get revenge on my ex by losing weight and looking super hot. I failed.

It wasn't until I just got tired of being fat that I started making the changes that made a difference. Eating well, working out and learning to just love myself. It was no longer about revenge, it was about taking care of me.

Tomorrow marks a significant point in my life. It marks three years of being single and my first bodybuilding competition. In total I've lost 70 pounds. As a single parent with a full time job and my own little house to take care of I have found a way to get a degree and get in shape all at the same time. I have tons of legitimate excuses to why I can't or don't have the time to eat right and workout. If you want it bad enough you WILL find a way!

**ETA: Workouts, I just lift heavy and do little cardio. Eating is TDEE-20% and IIFYM (with macros set correctly for my goals).

Update as of October 2014- Since my original story I have competed in two bodybuilding competitions, placing second and first respectively, as well as two powerlifting competitions, one of which set a world record for deadlift for my weight class. I continue to workout and balance the fun things in life with maintaining fat loss.

*For those of you who have been asking, I wrote a guide on how I lost the weight. You can find it here:
