Yes, when he gets older his eyes will turn an amber color. So I have to enjoy the green eyes while it lasts. :-)
His parents were both OFA'd and have good hip scores, but regardless of paperwork I will take it easy on him.Handsome boy! If I recall, Blue gene GSD's eyes turn amber. It's really pretty.
Also, be careful jogging with him. Dogs (med-large breed) dogs aren't fully matture until 18-24 months. Running on hard surfaces can cause major damage to their developing bones/joints. Also, GSDs are prone to hip displasia, with the upcoming jogging you might want to speak to your vet if they think you could go ahead and start a glucosamine supp. Due to the activity of our boy, he's been taking glucosamine since he was a year old.0 -
Thanks Everyone,
I know right now he is way too young to come jog with me. But I sure am going to have fun playing with him in the meantime.
His daddy is 120lbs and Mom is 75lbs. I've got a big boy on my hands!
I bet he'd love a flirt pole! Check them out on youtube. You can make your own or buy one.0 -
I have a full blooded German Shepard as well. I absolutely ADORE that dog! She's the sweetest thing ever and SO protective of my kids! They're awesome dogs!0

Adorable ! I like Blu for a name!0

He is GORGEOUS!
BUT - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to me - large dogs like German Shepherd - their bones done't fuse until 12-18 months. HE SHOULD NOT RUN WITH YOU BEFORE THAT!!!!!! You can permanently damage his joints. Any running he does on his own is fine, but "forced running" like running with you is off limits. He will act like he is fine and that he wants to keep up, but you will hurt him.

Haven't read every response... but careful with him.
Dog's shouldn't be run until their hips are fully mature around 18 months to two years.
Also GSD have some major hip issues within the breed.0 -
Get your legs prepped for massive welts from the tail wagging.0

If you're going to jog him, get him started on Glucosamine / Chondroitin / MSM supplements ASAP.
Its recommended to not jog / walk them for longer than 5 mins x age in months. I have two working German Shepherds and they weren't allowed to do any forced running (on leash) until 1.5 years old. If you take him to a fenced place and have him offleash while you run then that would be great!
Also.. I don't think GSDs have the dd gene... Which is the gene that causes dilutes. Dobermans and Great Danes do. Some people say labs do but its because some lines of them had Weims mixed in awhile back to create a sleeker coat for the working dogs.
He just looks like a light sable to me ? A mix between a bi color and a east sable is my guess..
But very cute.. Enjoy him!0
