Avocado Tuna Salad---so good I promise you

Options
For the tuna salad (makes 2 servings):
1/4 avocado (mashed)
1 can tuna (in water, NOT OIL)
1 handful diced celery
1 handful diced onions
salt to taste

About 145 calories for 1 serving

If you want to put it on a sandwich:
2 slices Nature's Own 100% Whole Grain bread
2 slices tomato
1 leaf romaine lettuce

Adds about 110 calories

Making the tuna salad this way using avocado instead of mayo lets you avoid all the saturated fat in the mayo and reap the benefits of the omega 3 fatty acids in the avocado, while also lowering the calorie count a bit. The taste kind of reminds me of guacamole but definitely still tastes like tuna salad. Try it and let me know what you think!

This is a wonderful idea and I will try this tomorrow. I do this with lean chopped chicken breast but I'm tired of it so thanks for the tip.

I've been doing this for a few weeks now, although a slightly different variation. I love it! Tasty, full protein and healthy fats and very filling.

Sounds yummy. I have a recipe like this for egg salad, using avocado for the mayo. I also add some lime juice. Delicious.

I have been doing this for a few years since I don't like mayo. I actually use 100cal pack of guacamole.

Thanks for this. I'm definitely going to try this. Just have to find avocados - they've been hard to find in our neck of the woods these last few weeks. Sometimes they have them - but they're often over-ripe. ew.
