Thank you to everyone for sharing their stories and pics! So inspiring! I am 5'1 and need to lose at least 30 lbs to get to a healthier weight - ultimate goal loss would be 40 lbs.

I'm 5'2 and a half and I started by counting calories. I weighed 160 lb when I started. I also began running when I was fit enough (never ran before but did Couch to 5K and really enjoyed it). Now I'm maintaining and I weigh around 118 lb. Trousers in the pic are UK size 16 and have just gone into the charity bag - I'm now a UK size 10.
Hope the pic works, it's my first time!

There are so many amazing transformations! One of my favortie things about this site is the support, and motivation. I love that in this thread, I am seeing completed goals, and progress pictures. And in every picture I see, there is a beaming amount of confidence that was not prevalent before.

I know some feel, comments are not directed towards them if the don't see their screen name. This being said, this is for all you have posted pictures and all that have posted success stories, and for all those on their way.

I don't know if any have been told this today, but, YOU LADIES ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am 5' 1", almost 34 yrs old and my SW was 285. I am now at 209 and holding. Hoping to lose an additional 20-30 pounds but my short term goal is to break through the wall i hit and weigh in under 200.
I had/have tons (pardon the pun lol) of support. Friends, co-worker and family. They are all key to a success story.
I started with the thought that I'd set short term goals for myself that will all add up to the bigger goal. First goal was to gather as much information as possible, and to compare different weightloss methods and stories to try to understand what works but more to find out how they work. And to filter through the things that were just causing temporary weight loss. I was in it for the long haul so i didn't want a quick fix, i wanted something that I could maintain throughout my life.
Second, went to my doctor and ran test to rule out thyroid issues or other things. And it helped she was also a dietician so she helped with what I should change in my diet and what i should do as far as physical fitness.
Third, I made workouts a habbit. My spouse said "do something for thirty days and it becomes a habbit". So i did just that. i didn't workout 30 days in a row. but i set a routine of cardio 3 days a week and weights 2. (my spouse and my research gave me all kinds of information about how weight training helps shed pounds faster and helps maintain weightloss, due to building muscle which helps burn more calories and burns calories long after your workout is over)
Fourth, I kept my online food/workout journal. (it really helps show you where all the extra calories come from and eventually, helps you make better choices food wise)
Fifth, kick it up a notch when you hit a wall. Do longer workouts, or change your routine. or incorporate other types of workouts. now i do pilates once a week, cardio 3-4, weights 3, core workouts (stability ball) once a week, and an awesome kickboxing type of workout. really helps when you hit that wall.
I never really understood when ppl said it was a lifestyle change, and you wont' either until you start and you see your lifestyle changing. you will want to workout more. your body will crave those workouts. You will find that all the bad foods you ate before now make you feel sick when you eat them.
don't forget to reward yourself. whether it be new clothes, a nice dinner out (cheat days are encouraged) or whatever. reward yourself for all your hard work. you deserve it for every pound you lose.
yes, i allow myself cheat days. I love cheesecake. and i eat it when i want. so i don't feel deprived. but where i used to eat two huge slices, i eat half or one if it's really good. half the time i'm full from the awesome healthy dinner my husband makes so i usually only eat half. and yes, healthy can be just as tasty as unhealthy. He makes AMAZING shrimp fried rice (not really fried) with brown rice and greens onions and alot of other veggies. it's all about flavoring.
please read all food lables and learn what they mean. and not just calories. Look at the grams of sugar and sodium and fat content. the online food diary will help guide you of how much of each you are allowed.
so that's my story, even though it's not quiet over yet. it's a life long battle but i'm so looking forward to the journey. :) good luck all
DON'T KNOW WHERE THE OPTION TO ADD A PHOTO IS BUT I'LL JUST CHANGE MY PROFILE PICTURE. LOL

I am 5' 1.5". The first pic is not my heaviest of 181 (October 2011). The story behind these, my husband's R&R (two weeks home om Afghanastan) ended, and the first picture (171.5#; size 14tight) was the last time he saw me. The last picture was taken about two weeks before his Homecoming (this past Monday:bigsmile: ), and basically what my husband came home too (147.7#; size 11 comfy)!

My goals and there deadlines are:
    **Size 8 by Sept 30, 2012
    **Weight 130 by Dec 31, 2012
**BF% 23 by Feb 28, 2013. ( I estimated the BF% by subtracting my goal from my current, and dividing by a rate of 1.5% per month).

I lost twice as much weight from March 2012-July 2012, than I did from October 2011-March2012. March is when I purchased a fitbit which is a more accurate at calorie burn, than the sites generic values. I have tried to get a minimum of 10,000 steps in per day (not always successful), and have tried to go to the gym (but due to childcare, or lack of, that has ben sporadic).

edit: It is the same shirt in all the pictures.

wow you look so beautiful :)

My pic is in my profile. I used to weigh 185 at my highest in Jan/Feb - I weigh 151ish right now. At a plateau now for awhile. The coral dress pic was taken a month ago at 154 I think. :] just started working with a trainer and with weights recently. Hopefully I will start losing again!

What a great thread. I am new here and am just starting. I am a 42 yr old mother of three. I am 5'1". I know I don't have as much to lose as much as other people but it feels so difficult. Can't seem to get the weight down.
