How much do you spend a week on groceries?

Between about $200-$300/week for 2 adults and 2 children, depending on how much expensive, healthy food or how many nice treats we buy.0

I have a husband and six children. You don't even want to know. :ohwell:0

I spend about $200 a month for a family of four. I try to shop at an outlet type grocery store we have here and the farmers market. Weekly it fluctuates depending on how much milk and fruit the kids eat. I would say im pretty frugal and cook 95% of meals at home and brown bag to work.0

I live in NYC and food is expensive. Also I shop at places like Whole Foods because the quality of the food is good. However there is a fruit stand that is less expensive than whole foods and also has a 10% senior discount on Saturdays. Gristedes in my neighborhood also has a senior discount on Tuesdays. And I buy frozen foods at Trader Joes which is usually a good deal on their prices.
I am a single person and I spend about $60 to $75 a week on food and any household items I need like TP and paper towels.0 -
I'm going to say we average around $125/week for two adults and a toddler, this includes household items like toilet paper. I try to at least buy organic for fruits/veggies and expand that whenever budget willing. I shop around, buy on sale, freeze, etc. I also used to coupon but the majority of coupons are for stuff we would never eat. DH takes lunches that I prepare in the morning to work with him.
edit to add that we live in Massachusetts....0 -
I spend $200-$250 for two people. We only eat out once a month, so we cook for EVERY meal!0
-
About $20-$40 a week for two people. We buy things like meat in bulk at a farm fresh butcher shop and then the rest of the month just buy veg, flour, sugar & fruit.0
-
just me, 1 person, I spend anywhere from 500-700 a month.0
-
300$ every 2 weeks and if I buy ribs and extra meats like that it can be 400$ every 2 weeks.0
-
On average, I spend about $100 a week for 2 adults. I buy mostly organic.0
-
Good idea! I am going to start checking the adds and buy what is on sale...making sure it is healthy of course!0
-
$350 a month0
-
I spend easily in the $150-$200 range. For two of us. We don't eat overly extravagantly either. I'm not sure where it all goes (well, now that I'm watching what I eat. I know where it went before ).0

250-300 a week for a family of 5 ( that includes farmers market, Sams club & eating out once a week)0
-
$100 to $150, depending on extras, toiletries, etc. Lots of fresh fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and a little dairy. Two adults.0

I spend about $20.00 a week.0
-
hard to tell how much I spend on groceries every week since I get my groceries at Walmart and Target (and buy anything else I need, ex. household, HBA, etc). just me here0
-
i spend on average $85/week just for myself!
i live in a borough of NYC and yes things are expensive, but i do shop Target/Walmart for some things, and try to shop bargains and sales whenever possible.
I also live in New York City and spend between $80-90 each week for one person. This amount is......
-higher because I buy Organic whenever possible
-higher because I buy nice fish and dairy products
-higher because I buy some luxury items (truffle oil, nice chocolate, etc)
-higher when I shop the Union Square farmers market (shouldn't direct from farmers be cheaper? but it's not!)
-lower because prefer fresh fruit in season
-lower because I eat out a few times a week
-lower because I don't buy many packaged/prepared foods
-lower because I stock up when I see a sale (Fage for just a dollar this week!) and use store coupons
It was interesting to see another New Yorker's answer. Great thread idea.0 -
I live outside of Philadelphia, PA and have a family of 3. We spend around $150 a week on food alone. I am always looking to cut back, but the prices keep going up. I shop mostly at Giant, as they seem to have the best prices in this area.0

$30/week for 1.0

I spend about 100.00 or more cuz im gluten free, but im coupon person so that's for almost 3 carts, which includes reg.food for daughter and husband.with store card & coupns i can bring that to about 50.00 or less.my store doubles coupons,I get 4-6 papers a week & get coupons on line.I have a store in my basement, this also includes my gluten free food.0
-
Roughly $15-$30 weekly at the farmers market, but 3/4 of that ends up in the freezer and maybe another $50-$75 every 2 weeks on meats and perishables for just me. I have managed to almost fill my chest freezer with enough fruits and vegetables to get me through the winter without having to take my chances buying winter harvest or hothouse vegetables,0

100 a week.. Me and a toddler who is picky.0
-
It is just my daughter and I, but I buy a lot of high quality protein, shakes, bars, and cheeses as I'm on a high protein low carb doctor approved diet.
so I spend anywhere from 150 to 200 dollars a week...i'm often making a meal for me and a meal for her...
but that number also includes wine and dog food for our pet dog...0 -
20-30 bucks but I live alone and I have friends over sometimes. I'd probably spend more but my family sends weekly packages of homegrown fruit, veggies and meat. Healthy diet is expensive in this country0
-
Just me and I spend around £40 to £50 a week ($60/70), that sometimes doesn't last!!! :grumble:0
-
$250 ish a week for a family of 4 (very rarely do we eat out.) I am picky about organic food though so I know that costs slightly more. That's not even with much meat (I am vegan but my kids and husband eat organic meat about 2x a week.)
I have to go about every 3 days because we go through produce like mad.0 -
I live in central Indiana and spend $200 a month on groceries for myself.0
-
It really varies by region. In Colorado, my boyfriend and I spent about $50/week, and that was buying name-brand packaged food. In New Jersey, we spend about $75-100/week, no matter what we're buying (though it is somewhat cheaper buying non-processed foods now so long as we shop the sales).0
-
$200-$250 a week for 2 adults and 5 children. That budget also covers all paper products, cleaning products, hygeine products, dog food, cat food and litter, and diapers and wipes. Some weeks I spend less, some more but I average $1000/month so about 200/250.0
