Thursday truth - I stepped on the scale and gained 2 lbs... so I measured, and I have gained an inch in my hips and waist... I am probably just bloated (I hope). I have been walking EVERY day for a week (well after today it will be a week, I think). I did have Subway again last night (leftover sub for lunch today) - so maybe it is the bread. I am strongly considering cutting out all bread except the Ezekiel or Dave's Killer... but that is kind of a scary commitment to make. We will see after a couple days.

Nicole~I’m sorry about the gain, it could be the bread. I felt the very same way about giving up bread initially, but the one slice of Ezekiel in the morning seems to satisfy me. I don't even miss it. Sometimes I have some whole grain crackers at lunch, otherwise that is the only bread I have. I had Subway for lunch a couple of weeks ago and I just felt miserable afterwards, I blame it on the bread. I think having carbs come from fruit, dairy (soy in my case), and a limited amount of brown rice/quinoa/pasta is the way to go. I don’t feel deprived and actually feel better physically.

Thanks for sharing Kelley - Yah, I'm thinking that I will (after today's lunch, as that is all I brought) skip the other bread products. I will at least try this for a week, and see how I feel. It will be interesting to see if that is the cause of my discomfort. I have always had the nagging thought in the back of my head that I have a slight intolerance to regular bread. Of course I have a bunch of friends that have gluten allergies, so luckily, I am very aware of the alternatives. :)

Hey everybody- I haven't been posting anything, but I've been reading for a bit. I am keeping MFP on the backburner, so I probably won't post much, but since it seems that Robin is having surgery, I just wanted to say that I hope it goes well and recovery is speedy!

mnwalkingqueen: After my surgery and finishing my dissertation and the months off from that, I regained about 50 lbs. Small steps. You'll get it back together.

Thursday Truth: Way over 200 lbs again but I'm working on getting back under again. Maybe by Christmas.

You've done it before. You can totally do it again. Have your health problems been resolved?

    Robin, praying for you today.

Hello all my friends, hope you are having a great day. I walked to the mailbox this morning with Belle and enjoyed it. Just wish my feet would hurt so bad afterwards. There has to be a way to make them hurt less. My Thursday truth is last night I found out a 2nd cousin of mine committed suicide, stayed up late and ended up very tired and emotional which led to eating an extra granola bar and melon. I was still under calories, but wasn't hungry. Tonight I plan on going to bed by 11PM. I have found the last few days I have more energy then I have had in a long, long time. I'm actually getting up and doing things around the house which is pretty exciting for me. I do get tripped up in my oxygen tubing but that gives me more incentive to lose more weight and hopefully get off the oxygen. Sweeping and vacuuming around the cord is frustrating.

To the mathmatically challenged lady, I ended up taking College Algebra 3 times before passing it. Persistence pays off. Everyone hang in there tomorrow is Friday!

Thursday truth - I haven't checked in since last Friday. I've also got myself all twisted up food wise. I made BBQ spareribs on Monday, in order to have enough calories to eat some I skipped a meal or 2, or all of them. Now I'm paying for it, been hungry for 4 days now. I've managed to not binge a bunch, but I'm right on the raggedy edge. Hard to believe that one day of really naughty behavior could screw with my metabolism this much. Also hard to believe how many calories are in the fatty pork parts.

No way I'm gonna catch up on post reading anytime soon so I hope you all are doing well.

Good morning all. First Hugs and support to Robin. I hope all goes well with the surgry today. I am doing pretty good. A little emotional today. Just went shopping to get everything my son is going to need for his apartment when he gets to college. Only 13 more days and my baby will be gone. Thank god my husband will be home from work for this. I will definitley need him to lean on. I went out to dinner yesterday with my son and I think I did pretty good. We split a combo platter nd then each got the salad bar. This way I could have the steak without the baked potato staring me down with all its lovely butter and sour cream, lol. After dinner we went and played put put. I had forgot how fun that could be. So Thursday truth, I think I spend to much time thinking about food. The problem is I have developed a real passion for cooking in the last year or so, so I spend a lot of time reading recipies and such. So far that has worked out in helping me to find healthy alternatives but I worry that it wont always be positive. I am probably worrying for nothing but my mom always said I couldn't be happy if I didn't have something to worry about :ohwell: Best wishes going out to everyone for a great day.
  • Thursday truth... I shouldn't have had jimmy johns for lunch much less the gargantuan. I should have listened to my body when i finished half the sandwich and it was saying it was full but that is over and done with, needless to say i will be working out tonight maybe c25k outside instead of on the treadmill. Also that I am thankful that the only thing left to do in the kitchen is to put one door back on for now. soon it will be the counter tops. yayyy... I guess i shouldnt be complaining as it may be my house in a few years and all that we are doing now wont have to be done then.

    have a good day

Thursday's Truth: I have the best job. I love what I do, it's not glamous or even really fun. I work for a small company. There are three of us worker bees and I'm the newest employee only have been here nine years. The best part of my job is that for the most part it is easy. (not that I never get stressed or upset but it's pretty rare) Oh another perk to my job is that I work with one of my brothers, he is my boss, and he can be a hard boss. But the fact that he is my bro makes that easier, besides he is hilarious and makes me laugh everyday, even when it's at my own expense.

Thursday truth - I think I'm actually beginning to enjoy exercise...... I used to think I was the laziest person on earth. THe kind that would use an umbrella to knock the TV remote closer so I didn't have to move.

I'm starting to think it was because I was SOOOO uncomfortable moving and it was always SUCH a big chore to heave myself up and down. Now even when I hurt bad the next day it's a good kind of hurt. A kind of satisfying "Yeah, but I burned a BUTTLOAD of calories and that's closer to my goal!" kind of hurt.

Thursday Truth - It's probably the adrenaline of being so busy but I have not been sleeping much lately and there is definitely a connection between getting adequate sleep and weight loss. I have to be more regular in my sleep habits. :flowerforyou: continue to think of you Robin

    Hi All,
Thursday Truth- I have not exercised all week. This week has been a roller coaster of emotions in dealing with the cat and work. Usually I enjoy exercise but I have not been up for it all week. Tomorrow I will be better since I am going climbing and that will be a great workout. I will get myself back on track starting tomorrow. Eating has not been the best either but I really don't care.

We did put the cat down today and it was the hardest thing, I ever had to do. The blessing today was that I was able to hold him for an hour this afternoon as he slept on my stomach and lap. Luckily he went peacefully but it was still hard. I also learned that the cancer actually started in his mouth as was moving to his eye. This was our best option and now he is happy and healthy in heaven. I am so happy that I took the day off- it was worth the time spent writing sub plans.

Well that its for now. Have a great Friday.

I have completely lost my life  . My mother has been in intensive care all week and I am moving my sister ( and cat . . ) into my condo this Sunday. Not looking forward to this at all.

Bella - I understand a bit of this. My dad had a partial hip replacement last Thursday evening after a fall. I was tasked with caring for him in the hospital as it was the Holiday weekend and the nurses didn't have enough time to look after the old guy who was pretty much out of his mind from the drugs. He's in Skilled Nursing now---I've been home about 48 hours now I believe and I've had 6 calls from the nursing facility.

    It is beyond overload............

    Hang on!!!

    Hello Everyone,

Happy Thursday to all! Today has been ok normal stuff just long. Got home around 7pm took the dog for a walk luckly had a plan put together for dinner which made it easy. Seems like by every Thursday I am so exhuasted and feel so burn out.

I have read everyone's posts. I am sorry about not reply to each one.

@Lauriek70-- So sorry about your cat.
@Robin hope all went well with your surgery.
@monarchris-- yay on walking but sorry your feet are hurting.

Thursday truth is I 'd really like a new job. I have and still do at times enjoy my job. But I'd like a job that didn't mirror my my home life so much. I go to work and care & help train all of those young adults than I come home and help my daughter. I think my daughter gets the short end of the stick. Not fair to her. But also i am practical I am 52 years old having any job in this market is a blessing and I am grateful for it.

I hope everyone has a good night.

    Thursday Truths:

Praying for Robin and a speedy recovery!

Today my friend Paige had to go ahead a deliver her baby 7 weeks early. The doctors were concerned because she was showing really bad signs of having a detached placenta and her blood pressure was 140/107, so needless to say something had to be done. She had to have an emergency C-section at 6pm tonight. Thankfully, baby and mom are doing fine. Miss Jordyn Claire came into the world at 6:05pm CST and weighed in at a whopping 3lbs 15oz and is 17 inches long. :)

My truth for the day is that I'm very nervous about my 5K on Saturday. I'm taking tomorrow off and even though I was supposed to take today off, I still walked the 5k distance. I am sure I can do it, but it will just be mind over matter. :)

My friend Brittany, who is running in the 5k with me, will be meeting up with me tomorrow in Columbus, MS. I'm pretty excited about seeing her since it's been almost 2 months since our epic road trip. I bought her a little happy as a congratulations present. I hope she likes it. :)

I hope everyone has a great day! I'll try to check in later. :)

Thursday Truth: Temporarily moved back in with my parents until the school up paying my way. I think it may drive me insane. I love the job but hate the nagging and nitpicking at each other and occasionally at me.

Prayers to Robin and Laurie and the others who are struggling now.

I had Jimmy John's for the first time this weekend. I loaded up the veggies and had it wrapped in lettuce. It was super messy, but really good and much lower in calories. My BFF had a full one on bread with a ton of meat. Needless to say, I was pretty proud of myself for making such a healthy choice. Tomorrow is another day.

I just got home from open house at school (well, and drinks afterward :drinker: ). Super tired, but I will catch up on posts tomorrow.

Hugs to everyone! I've had a few cocktails so --I love you, man!
  • Hello, I'm new here, so I thought I'd tell a little about myself. I am 19 years old, 5'2" and I weigh 230. My hubby and I will be trying to conceive, so I know I need to get this weight off. My Dr told me my goal weight needs to be 130, so I need to lose 100lbs exactly. I don't really have much support here, as most of my family is not overweight, so I thought this site would help.

Thursday truth: I am scared about trying to lose the weight. I have lost a lot of weight before, I went from 260 to 150 in a year's time, but now as you can see I've gained a lot of it back. That's why I turned here, hoping with support I will be able to lose and keep it off!

Thoughts and prayers are definitely with Robyn today. Praying for a speedy recovery that's for sure. I've read everyone's posts and will try to get better at responding.

@Laurie. It's so tough to lose a 4-legged member of the family. As responsible pet owners, you did the right thing. Many of us have been there and know your hurting. Think of all the wonderful memories you have with your kitty.

@Bella. With my move, my sister joined me cross country. We've lived together on and off for the past 8 years. It was important for us to keep some boundaries in place that's for sure. In the past, my sister would always derail my weight loss efforts. Luckily, this time she's actually being pretty supportive. If not, I will kick her butt!!!

@WalkingQueen. You've got so much going on right now. I know it's called life, but perhaps you should really focus on maintaining for a month or so until things somewhat settle down. I had 2 months where my life was so hectic. I gained a few lbs back, but stayed steady and didn't beat myself up. Now I'm back on track. You will too!!!

Thursday Truth: I'm in a pretty good place. Nothing pressing on my mind or to get off my chest. I am meeting with the dietician tomorrow for my first official month weigh-in. I'm sure she's going to tell me I'm losing too fast, but it's slowing right down and that's OK.

Tina - I know how difficult it is when you're working and have to take care of kids and try to get your exercise in. What I have been doing is walking with the kids after dinner. They like to help me exercise and I like them to participate. Plus it is teaching them good habits. Hope this is helpful.

Thursday Truth - Motivating others helps motivate me!:flowerforyou:

Friday Fitness - With all the hours I've been logging in at work it's been hard getting to work out so I've been taking the stairs more in the office and logging that in as my workout. Plus it helps that my condo is 4 floors too.

Good Morning and welcome to any newlings!

Friday Fitness~Surprisingly my hamstrings and quads don't hurt today from yesterday's heavy lifting. I'm thinking of taking yoga today instead of my usual cardio though, my body could probably use the extra stretching!

Sun (today) - bike, row, treadmill - DONE!
Mon - personal training - DONE!
Tues - ended up being my off day
    Wed - Elliptical - DONE!

Good morning. Been at the weight loss campaign since March 2012. This time it is serious, and so far I have lost 43 lbs with another 110 to go. It has all been through eating habit changes and a bit of walking and swimming this summer. Signed up at a fitness centre, so I am on my way. Recent death in my family has had me tempted by foods I should not be looking at, but I have not paid much attention to the temptations.
