oh haha i do have to tell this story. when i got a call back from the receptionist at the doctors office today she asked what i needed to be seen for. i said that i had an a-fib and i needed to get in.

then she asked me if i was going to need a pelvic exam for that.

    O.o

i said, 'not unless it's changed a LOT since the last time i had my heart looked at.'

your first clue that your receptionist is not a medical professional...

    That is hilarious!!!

Hi Everyone! Happy Hump Day :flowerforyou:

Yes, I have been missing in action for a week or so. My classes this semester have me underwater and I don't do well with group projects because I don't like relying on others which is making one class super hard because it just one huge group project.

My Wed Wish is that my new basement would come with gym equipment.

    ****Update****
As of 9/24/12 9am I will be a home owner! This is my very first home and thought it could never happen as single mom but GOD has blessed me for all my hard work.
Life with adding my boyfriends kids has been real stressful too. His 12yr old is a mini version of my 16yr old which is real challenging but it's working.

Congrats on the upcoming closing on your new house:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

My Wednesday wish is that I start feeling better and ***TMI WARNING*** that I can poop! I really dislike diverticulitis:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: Sorry I'm not real supportive or motivating today and was over calories yesterday. Am I the only one that when I get sick I feel that eating will fix it?

Wishing every one has a great week!

No, you are not alone in thinking that if you're not feeling well that if you just eat the RIGHT thing that it will all be fixed. I've done that and done that and done that. Particularly before I was diagnosed with celiac but I still do it from time to time. Thing is, doesn't ever really work for me.......

Hope you feel better soon. Do you have medication you take for this problem?

@ Christine sorry your not feeling good, I have had diverticulitis issues in the past, and for some reason I'm starving during them, and I want to eat carbs, bowls of pasta please. (which is one of the worst you can eat while your gut isn't working right) Try to eat easy to diguest foods and I hope you feel better very soon.:flowerforyou:

@Mymowmow- I think it might be anal to plan that far ahead for vacation, but it's not crazy by any means. If planning ahead makes the trip more enjoyable? it would be crazy not too.

IT's not so much a vacation as a forced trip. I moved 3500 miles to get away from these people. I might have kept going if I hadn't hit water.....
'Home' is a big trigger for me. My family is *all* about the food. If you don't clean your plate you "didn't like what I made for you?" and "You can't just order a salad, that's rude to our hosts!". Food was also a source of comfort through emotional abuse as a child and the ENTIRE family lives within walking distance from each other. They are *always* together.

It's taken me 6 long years to get myself into a better place emotionally and this is my first trip back there. It's going to take some long term planning and pumping myself up to get through this unscathed.

I think you are being prepared. Not just for food but also for the people who will be putting "eating" pressure on you. Glad you moved away and found yourself a better place emotionally. Carry that better place in your head and heart when you go back so you don't lose it while youre there. I think you're planning of meals is a great way to be in control.

You also might want to plan a list of "refuting statements" to have at the ready for your family members, since you have the advantage of knowing what they might say to you. THat way you can head off any nasty discussions.

    Good luck to you!

@Christine - I hope you feel better. Diverticulitis sucks, my MIL has it and when it flairs up LOOK OUT! And nothing worse than having one stuck in there.

@Janak - Thanks for posting about that metabolism type thing. I'm going to read up on that. If I understand it correctly then I'm a balanced oxidizer. Interesting.

@Robin - you should start feeling better now. Cuz I said so. Just get to it.

@MyMOwMOw - can't live with your triggers, can't pull the trigger either. Hope your trip goes well for you.

Wednesday wish - I wish I could feel this good (or better:) all the time. And I wish for a huge McNugget with a bucket of dipping money sauce.

Welcome Newbies! This group is so supportive. I've been on for about 6 weeks and they're all really great people. True and real.

@Christine - I really hate this for you. I have a few problems myself, but never diagnosed. I know I just don't get enough fiber in my diet to keep things moving. I keep thinking I'll add bran or eat some prunes, but never happens. Hope you feel better soon!!!

@Robin - Hope you start feeling better. You're still recovering from major surgery though so definitely no rush.

@MyMOwMOw - First of all, good for you!!!! You took a HUGE leap of faith or leap of sanity, whichever it may be - WOW!!! Plus, you've lost almost 100 lbs - Holy cow!!! You've really overcome some huge obstacles and should be so proud of yourself. Also, you've learned because you know your triggers and your planning ahead. You're definitely doing the right thing. Of course, you can still log on from NJ and you know you've got a big thread of people ready to support your every step. We've got your back!

@ Aug - Have you ever seen a McNugget being made? I've been to the manufacturing plant and it's not a pretty sight. Now the bucket of dipping sauce I would jump right in with you, but the nuggets - NASTY!!!!

Wednesday Wish: Aunt Flo will be gone within a few days so I quit wanting to eat everything in sight!!! I will stay in control and not let those crazy emotions take over!!!!

I'm headed back to NJ in December for less than a week. Is it creepy anal of me that I'm hunting up the menu's from the local restaurants (family favorites) that we're likely to eat at and making mini menu's for myself.

I figure that way I KNOW (within reason) what I'm eating BEFORE I go in to any given place and don't have to umm and aww over the menu. Not to mention that some things that I ASSUMED were not so bad are really much worse than I thought and likewise things that I would have thought were terrible ( ie cup of chowder) are not bad at all and would make a nice light meal.

Now I'm thinking I want to do this for the fast food placed/sit down restaurants near work. Up until now if everyone goes out I decline since I won't know the nutritional info and have to research it (and they are always last minute decisions). Then I can go along and have a 'cheat sheet' to take with me....

    Prepared or creepy anal...?

Prepared! You're being proactive, it takes the guesswork out and you'll focus more on visiting with family/friends than stressing over the menu.

I totally agree ^^^. Be prepared to make adjustments when things don't go exactly as you planned. It's just a week, after all. You can handle this--and we'll all be pullin' for ya!

yikes. i will pray for you. i wouldn't want to do that either. i think the fact every man in my family has had open heart surgery just wigs the crap out of me. but yeah, denying will not make it go away, alas. and yeah, the flutter is stupid. and i always freak out every time and it isn't because i'm actually scared. it's doing something to me like maybe an adrenaline rush or something. i also always feel like i can't breathe even though i know i can, since i'm sitting there breathing and everything.
    [/quote]

Thanks, Toots! Haven't exercised since Monday, but will try a walk tonight. Dressed for gym again, a-fib came back, took Xanax (lowest dose ever) to get over the anxiety caused by a-fib, and when I was feeling better, my day got the best of me. Found out recently that I have cousins dealing with it too. Some sort of epidemic--or something in the drinking water.

Let me know how visit to the nurse works out.

Robin, Christine and others, hope you all feel better pronto. Here's a cyber hug (((((hug))))) for you!

Wish- that life would calm down and I can get myself focused and motivated again.

Truth- I am so not motivated today between work and doing things after school there is just no down time. Granted I did take time for myself today after work and left work on time (victory). I ended up shopping after I paid a bill. Did buy two pair of pants and now I am looking at buying a new computer. I did not try on the pants so I hope they fit. I gave in and picked up one of the pairs that I have been looking at throughout the summer. They were too small the last time I tried them on but I hope they fit this time. If not, wearing them my become my next goal.

    Have a great day everyone.

Interesting about the metabolism type. I looked on Dr. Oz website and took the quiz - found out I have a type A metabolism. Right now my diet is 40% carbs, 30% fat, and 30% protein. It recommends I change it to 20% carbs, 30% fat, and 50% protein. I need to see what my trainer thinks of that.

ETA~I'm off tomorrow, so looking forward to sleeping in for a bit (provided Pebbles will let me). But, have personal training at 8am and then washing machine guy will be here between 10-12. Fun times!

@Susan - nahnahnah-can'thearyou-nahnahnahnah :) I always thought that was a funny line, someone says, "You know what I want/wish/would like?" I answer super fast, "A huge McNugget." In reality, if McDs was my only choice for real junk food I wouldn't be fat, cuz Ronald can't cook for s***.

Hi everyone! I caught up on 2 pages of posts, but will skip personals tonight. Hugs to all of you!

AFM--Well, I got my Wed. wish--I was pretty productive throughout the day. Got through one whole class of journals and read more of The Awakening. Will finish some quizzes tonight before bed. I would have already finished them, but new season of Survivor premiered and I'm kind of a junkie. :blushing: My family marvels at how someone with such refined taste in literature can have such trashy taste in TV. I defend myself by arguing that it's not the trashiest--I mean don't watch Jersey Shore or Honey Boo Boo.

Mon--walk dog + gym (weight machines and stair master) DONE!!!
Tues--walk dog + core work DONE w/ walk but forgot to do core work
Wed--long run w/dog DONE and will do yesterday's core work
    Thurs--walk dog + core work
    Fri--walk dog
Sat--walk dog + gym (weight machines and speed intervals on treadmill)
Sun--walk dog + gym (stair master and stationary bike)

    Grading goals:
    1. 22/49 AP journals
    2. x/22 parts of speech post tests
    3. 14/49 AP essays
    4. finish re-reading The Awakening (um, by tomorrow!) got through more than half
    5. x/22 I/D clause practice
    6. x/22 ACT practice tests

Goal is to make it to Friday with only #3 on my plate for the weekend (and hopefully less remaining).
