Am I the only one who hasn't read 50 Shades?

Honestly, it's madness.

I think it was the fact that my stepmother said "oh it's so dirty! It's like porn! You should read it, you can borrow my Kindle!"

All I could think was.. Yeah, I don't know if I want to touch your Kindle knowing that. I'll pass on your girly book.

That's not the reason I don't want to read it. I'm not a fan of Twilight, and apparently this is Twilight fan-fiction originally. I could be wrong on that, but the writing is comparable, so I'm just....no. Not gonna touch it.

Literally and without question the absolute WORST book I've ever read. Don't bother with it, it was *kitten*.

I haven't--people were posting excerpts of the writing on here. The quotes were amusing but also very effective at making sure I never open the book. (Not because of sexual content, but because of writing style. Not my cup of tea.)

It sounds dumb, although I did enjoy the sookie stackhouse series.

    ^^ what those 2 said.

I read the first chapter...If it wasn't for the sexual content. I'd think a 10 year old wrote/edited it.

It definitely was a Twilight fan fiction before the names were changed and it was published.

    A really funny review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/340987215

I don't plan to read it or watch the movie that's already in the works.

From what I've heard, they wouldn't appeal to me. If I'm going to spend my time reading a book, I would rather it be intellectually stimulating. I get plenty of the other kind of stimulation.

I haven't read it, nor Twilight :noway: Sacrifice me now, but truly and honestly I believe vampires should burn in sunlight, not sparkle and glitter. Just my opinion.

I heard how poorly written it was and decided there's plenty of well-written erotica out there. So I'll pass.

You can find better erotica for free online. As for the Twilight connection, she totally ripped it off.

I admit I've read them, and loved them. Are they the best written stuff? Absolutely not, but I have apparently become obsessed in casting who I think should be in the movie, and I'm apparently serious about it too lol

My reading time these days is so limited anyhow, I really don't want to waste it on a trash book like that. I've heard enough about it to know it's not for me.

I think it's just marketing hype. No one I know has read it.

Oh come on it was not the worst book ever... Storyline was predictable and at times boring but how else would you ever realize you were entirely Vanilla.... and wanted to keep it that way! lol

I love books and will read anything though! I will never reread it though I am happy to have that little glimpse into adult fantasy that I never wish to experience.

Agreed. I refused to watch Twilight until my cable for shut off and I already borrowed all of my neighbor's other movies.
  • I wish I had been as smart as you. A friend who was reading them before me told me they weren't as kinky and hot as people had been saying, but failed to warn me about the horrible writing and repetition. I was in the middle of the first book (like a true sucker I bought all three at once) I found out it was Twilight fan fiction. Any chance of arousal was removed. I am supposed to picturing Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as Christian and Ana...I don't think so.
  • Cant get into it!
  • haven't read it and no plans to either

book 1 is almost exactly like season 1. After that they become 2 different things. It is fun to watch a totally different take on everything while watching the show. The books are still good, but shouldn't be compared to the show.
