Am I the only one who hasn't read 50 Shades?

I read a few chapters after being told by countless people that I "would love it." I didn't... Waste of time.!0
-
No I decided to boycott it because everyone I know and their mother was reading it. I am known for reading alot and its funny to say I havent read it and dont plan to when someone comes to me all excited and wanting to discuss the characters since they automatically assume ive read it. Hehe. Sounded funnier in my head. Lol. I like the JD Robb series for fluff reading and just finished The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Wanted to try Atlas Shrugged. Has anyone read that? Reviews? Or Lolita? Heard that one was a little mind blowing though.
Atlas Shrugged is one of the best books ever written imho. Written in 1957 but the content is so relevant to current times. Hope you read and enjoy.0 -
Read the first two onto the third, they were a present.
I feel I should read them so I can say I have if asked....
Kind of like a not all that sexy or interesting teenage version of every other romance novel. Good looking young billionaire ( like there's plenty of those) picks up gorgeous intelligent headstrong virgin- give me a break...
Pretty crap actually!0 -
I havent.. dont plan to.0

Yes, when I was home recovering from surgery. They are a light trashy read, pretty hilarious at times since they read like the book equivalent of a cheesy porno :P0
-
No, I haven´t. It´s big here in Portugal as well.0
-
That's not the reason I don't want to read it. I'm not a fan of Twilight, and apparently this is Twilight fan-fiction originally. I could be wrong on that, but the writing is comparable, so I'm just....no. Not gonna touch it.
Yes! It is a fanfic of the Twilight Saga, I am a fan of Twilight, But not a fan of 50 Shades. I find it creepy that someone could imagine these characters acting like the way they do in 50 Shades.0 -
I down right refuse to read it :noway:0
-
I haven't read and to be honest, i don't see what all the fuss is about??!!0
-
Not me, and don't plan too.0

Honestly, it's madness.
I think it was the fact that my stepmother said "oh it's so dirty! It's like porn! You should read it, you can borrow my Kindle!"
All I could think was.. Yeah, I don't know if I want to touch your Kindle knowing that. I'll pass on your girly book.

I haven't read the books, but I've read every post about them in this blog, so I have a good idea of them. I am planning to read them simply so I can say I did and have more clout when I say how awful they are. But I REFUSE to pay a dime for them because the publisher doesn't deserve my money, so I'm waiting until I can borrow them from a friend who loaned them to another friend who lives out of town.0 -
They were ok but I wouldnt buy them. HUNGER GAMES....WAY better0

i've read all 3, thinking they would be different, but the writing is pretty terrible. All 3 books could have been condensed into 1. There are quite a few repeats, repeats, then some more repeats in case you didn't get it the 3rd time. I've never read trashy love novels so maybe that is what they are like.
I had also heard they were fan fiction from twilight.
You aren't missing anything by not reading it.0 -
I was wondering the same thing....I started out reading it,but it was girl meets boy, girl wants boy,boy knows this but keeps her wondering ugh!! I couldnt get into the story. Thank goodness I didnt buy the books! )0
-
I haven't read it.... not sure I will...0
-
Just have a great imagination, write it on paper and have it published. People will buy anything. People are soooo easy!0
-
Oh When I was half way into the 2nd book and the 3rd book the main girl character is fricken ANNNOYING> "omg hes mad at me" " oh hes not mad" " oh hes making a mad face. hes mad at me" "oh hes not madI love my fifty shades" SHUT UP WHO CARES. She has a paranoia conflict in her brain and she calls it Her Inner Godess. SMH0

The book sounds like a twilight version of lame porn ... did not bother reading...
and now I hear emma watson may play the female role...sob there goes my Hermione... :sad:0 -
Nope, erotic fiction doesn't do it for me - my girls have all read it though!0
-
I stayed away from it for a long time and finally gave in to read it... I didn't get very far in before giving it back. It sounds like it's written by a horny teenager! I feel nothing for any of the characters.
Now I have friends saying it's not meant to be a masterpiece and just enjoyed for what it is but..... I just can't get into anything that (in my opinion) is lacking deapth, character development and various other crucials for me.0 -
I haven't read it, nor Twilight :noway: Sacrifice me now, but truly and honestly I believe vampires should burn in sunlight, not sparkle and glitter. Just my opinion.0
-
I'd rather step on my own nuts.
lol I agree!!!
I have heard its just a trashy novel...I would rather just spend my time in the real world with my family that I love and adore. Thats just me though.0 -

I like the book for the simple fact that so many people have read it. Have I read it? God no! I already read! I have much better books on my to read list. From everything I hear about it, the plot is very 2D, the writing style is somewhat attrocious and the only redeeming factor is the smut content...which I don't think is at all redeeming. I am not reading it, it does not appeal to me, but I am happy that books, rather than a films, made another re-appearance in popular culture.0
-
no way in heck i will read that. not because of the content, but simply because i cant stand anything in the romance/chicky flicky genre.
now hand me a series like Game of Thrones, or a book like House of Leaves and im game;)0 -
I'm waiting for the pop up or fuzzy felt version so I can read it on the train during my morning commute0
-
I'll give it a try only if every other book in the world is burned and then my dog eats my kindle.0
-
I read up to chapter 21 just to see what all the hype was.
I found it was the most boring book I have ever read. It was so repetitive, poorly written and just....ugh.
Biggest waste of time ever.0 -
Literally and without question the absolute WORST book I've ever read. Don't bother with it, it was *kitten*.
This all the way! consider yourself lucky you haven't read it...0 -
Just have a great imagination, write it on paper and have it published. People will buy anything. People are soooo easy!
She plagiarized most of it from Twilight. No imagination necessary.0
