Am I the only one who hasn't read 50 Shades?

Not interested & shall not be bothering! I have better things to read & do!0

I'd rather re-read "Story of O".
Or some Anais Nin or Henry Miller
I actually got into an argument with my male 49 year old friend about it. Some how he took offense as he lumped it into Twilight and he thought they were awesome movies and I should watch those movies as I'm missing out.
I wanted to scratch my eyes out and puncture my eardrums to escape the torture when I got dragged by my 13-14-year-old daughter to the first two movies.0 -
I haven't read it.0

If you want to "read the books" read the bad reviews on amazon.com. they are HILARIOUS. As someone said earlier this was originally a twilight fan book. Nothing pisses me off than sad pathetic woman characters badly written. From everything I have read about these books the man is abusive and the woman is weak and annoying. Not to mention the writing is high school level for bored women.
The first warning signs went off on this probably not being the greatest of books when I saw people I am "friends" with on Facebook who were going on and on about how awesome the book is. These people I know don't normally read and when they do read they typically choose trash or crap that I am bored with. I applaude them that at least they are reading and not watching honey boo boo or something but I can't bring my self down to that level to read it.0 -
I haven't read it. I did look at synopsis sites, and about a paragraph in, I just sat there thinking, "THIS is what the supposed hype is about?!" It's a bad BDSM porno mixed with the crappiest parts of Twilight!
It also pissed me off that 50 Shades of Grey, which was advertised at the local Theater X's billboard- was so close to the kids toys and books at Target, considering it's a porno in everyone else's eyes.0 -
My husband came home cackling one day about a line in the book that said something along the lines of "looked at her like a mother gerbil looks at her three-legged baby before she eats it." That doesn't excite me. At all. It's just a pathetic attempt at creative writing.
Besides, I actually have regular, satisfying sex. I don't need a book to fulfill my needs.0 -
I would rather read a Harry Potter fanfic than that book........and fanfics are terrible, but probably better that that book. That book and Twilight make me angry.0

All my friends were reading it and raving that they couldn't put it down..how good it was etc etc. curiosity got the best of me and I downloaded it to the IPad . That was months ago..I got as far as chapter 17 and haven't picked it up since. I thought it was poorly written..repetitive..just didn't cut it for me. It's a waste of $$!0

You are not alone.. I have not. I am unlikely to read it. I fell into the 'read because everyone is talking about it trap' with Twilight and I swore NEVER Again!!!
Give me a GOOD book worth wasting a few late hours and looking like hell the next morning because I couldn't put it down!!
Give me Asimov & Zelanzy that I've read 20 times over shat-fiction written cuz the batteries went out in someones vibrator.0 -
If 50 Shades is dirty..then Im a virgin0
-
I will never read it. I hate it already because of all the madness and have no idea what it's about.0
-
I'm writing a "50 Shades" book for men, called "The Internet." Next.0
-
I thought Gilbert Gottfried reading parts of it was entertaining enough, but that's where I draw the line \m/0

is it gonna be vanilla like the one for women?0 -
I loved the books surprisingly. Yes the sexuality was very explicit, but for some reason the book caught my attention. I couldn't put the book down. I don't know why they compare it to Twilight because it doesn't even compare.0
-
No you are not the only one. I have not read them and I probably will not read them. It's a matter of not wanting to read about those types of things for me. But believe me you are not alone. I also have plenty of friends and family that have not read them as well.0

I haven't read them and have no plans to do so.0

I have no plans on reading it. I also find the women that read it to be lacking.0

I haven't either.......I'll wait for the movie....lol0

Because it's Twilight fan fiction.0 -
Didn't read it, have no plans to ever read it. I have witnessed mature, intelligent women going gaga over it on facebook and for that reason alone is enough.0
-
I will not read it:
In a house, with a mouse;
On a boat, with a goat;
Not even if you promise me green eggs & ham.
No.0 -
Not yet, but I will be flying out to Cali in about 3 weeks and WILL be reading it on that plane ride!0

I read the summary on Wikipedia and it pissed me off. I have no interest in supporting a cult madness where the heroine has so little self-respect.0
-
That's not the reason I don't want to read it. I'm not a fan of Twilight, and apparently this is Twilight fan-fiction originally. I could be wrong on that, but the writing is comparable, so I'm just....no. Not gonna touch it.
Nope not wrong, completely correct. It was Twihard fanfiction that went viral... thats all.
OP, haven't read it. Don't want to but I probably will read the parody "50 shades of Mr Darcy"0 -

This is also why I am not a twilight fan.. I have four daughters and I want to see young girls and women as strong... I am unlikely to read any of them.0 -
They were an insult to literacy... but, yes, I read them all.... because I'm not a quitter; And I kept trying to figure out when all the supposid goodness came in.
Spoiler:
It didn't.0 -
Nope havent read it and wont read it!0

50 Shades of Mr. Darcy sounds like something I could get behind! I haven't read 50 Shades. My bf started to read it- for me...thoughtful guy that he is and said he couldn't get through it.0
