I haven't weighed myself yet, but I drink diet caffeine free pepsi, about 7 in a month. It doesn't seem to make me gain weight. Not sure this helps, sorry.0

I think it depends on the person.
Some people say that there's some science behind it and that it could altogether make you feel MORE hungry. So in turn, you'd possibly eat more.
I've never had a problem with it, but in general, I'd say if possible to just stick to water.
Some of the ingredients in diet pop/soda aren't the best for you and there's been some studies with that too.0 -
i used to drink allot of soda, maybe 5 or 6 cans a day, when i started my weight loss journey i dident stop that i switched to diet, specifally diet pepsi lime lol, i thought hey theirs no cal or sugar woohoo, lol but then i decided hey what they heck with all the checmicals and crap thats in their it cant be good, so i stopped drinking it and wow it made a diffrence i dident feel so sluggish all the time, and my weight started coming off allot quicker, everyone in a while i get a craving but its nice cause i take one sip and im like eww i cant drink this lol!!! i would deff suggest to cut it out !0

It can sometimes make people retain more water if you drink alot of it, but if it is calorie free, you won't gain fat. I drink 1 or 2 Dt. Mountain Dew's a week, it is one of my vices left from college I haven't gotten rid of, and I'm down 2 pants sizes.0

Its fine, go for it0

I drink 3-4 per day0

gave up all soda 23 years ago :bigsmile:0

I drink a diet Dr. Pepper probably 4 times a week - I weigh 116 and have had no problems or weight gain due to those DP bottles! Now, I did have to watch my cravings because lo and behold, I did start to want sugar a lot more frequently but as long as I busied myself with school, etc, I was fine. go for it!0

It's zero calories. Knock yourself out. I drink whenever I go out to eat. The lemonade I used to order at restaurants would hit me for 1000 cals a meal. Now I get zero cals with my cheeseburgers. Big improvement.0

As someone mentioned above, it's not just about calories, sugar or gaining weight - soda, diet or otherwise, is full of chemicals and artifical ingredients. Diet even more so bc they put in sugar substitutes which are not natural.
I don't know about weight loss as I have not drank soda for many, many years, but personally I think it is best to stay away from it.0 -
no soda of any kind at all..........sorry0

I drink coke zero. there are lots of people who will tell you diet soda will kill you but they casually forget to mention that crossing the road might kill you, too.0 -
i dont see the point of drinking it unless you put vodka in there too.0
-
I don't drink it at all, maybe I'll have two diet cokes a MONTH. They hardly appeal to me anymore. I just love my water. Or water with lemon squeezed in.0

mhm. He speaks the truth.0 -
I drink 1 or 2 cans of diet coke a day. I have had no problems losing weight and body fat.0

I think this is sometimes a controversial topic because there are two different schools of thought.
Me personally? Everything in moderation. I do sometimes drink diet soda, I do sometimes drink regular soda. I've never really seen it affect my weight one way or another. However, I do know soda in general is not healthy for our bodies so just like any other food/beverage that isn't health-ful I think personally it's a good idea to practice moderation.
We all have our vice though and if the scale is moving and you are feeling fine I wouldn't worry about it right now, baby steps. Maybe before long you will want to make changes.
In our house we have a "one treat a day" rule for the kids. I count soda (diet or regular) as a treat so if they were to choose that then no pudding or pumpkin bread or what not after dinner. They never choose it because of that. I've often used the same "rule" on myself and sometimes I do choose the diet dr. pepper over the pumpkin bread Because let's face it, diet dr pepper tastes yummy0 -
I drink diet sun drop But I still try and drink my water too! But just can't leave the diet sun drop alone. It's my second love0

I drink at least a 2L a day of diet coke/pepsi/dew. Like someone said above, everyone is dif. Some folks it wont affect them where Im sure others it might. I hit my goal weight and never stopped drinking it. To each their own I guess.

I only drink diet soda if there's alcohol in it.
That stuff isn't particularly good for you, but it won't make you fat.0 -
It's very very rare for me to drink soda. I'm a water girl all the way...I really wished my weight was due to soda drinking, but it's not0

I love my water. Because I am a water drinker I'm picky with the water restaurants provide. So I splurge and have a diet coke when we are out to dinner. I keep in mind that it has 0 calories but is still bad for you overall. All soda is. I keep to my calorie intake and exercise all the time. So, it doesn't make me gain any weight. And I am the opposite of some, the soda fills me up more so I eat less. But, then it always makes me feel bloated.0

I've lost all desire for soda (pop here in Michigan) unless I am desperate for a jolt of caffine0

I have switched from drinking 3-4 Mountain Dews a day to now having 1-2 Coke Zeroes. In between I drink water with crystal light or if I'm working out, just plain water and I do feel much better! I love the crystal light in water and 10 calories is way better that the 170 I was getting in the Dew.0

I have it as a "treat" once in a great while when I really want one.
I agree on it depending on the person. Some people metabolize fake sugar the same as they do real sugar and it raises your bloodsugar and kicks in the insulin.
So in reality, it can cause you to hold on to your fat stores.
Just make sure you're getting your water in. I've heard you should drink an extra 8-16 oz of water for every 12 oz diet coke/pepsi you drink but again....hearsay.0 -
No.
Mainly because I get migraines from artificial sweeteners.
I'd rather have the sugary ones as an occasional treat.0 -
i lost 80 pounds in the past drinking soda and using artificial sweeteners so when people say it will hinder i just ignore them. I drink mostly water now but i still drink diet soda just not as much cause i wanna fit the water in. No one is fat because they drink diet soda!0

I very rarely drink any fizzy soda. Not so much for diet but more because I have psoriasis and find that soda (diet coke or Pepsi in particular) makes it worse.0
-
I don't think it's the diet soda that makes you fat...it's what you EAT with, before or after the soda.
I used to drink diet soda with my meals and snacks, so my brain "linked" the soda with stuff like fried chicken, pizza, burgers, popcorn, pretzels, chips etc., etc. Drinking a diet soda with a salad just wasn't as satisfying and my brain was screaming--"Where's the burger??"
I decided to give up the soda and found that when I brought an "off brand" of my favorite flavor (i.e., el cheapo diet cola vs. Diet Pepsi) it was easier to wean off of it. It's been about 4 months I've been on the wagon and only had 2 sodas--buy my choice, not because of habit. I was drinking decaf soda, so that wasn't an issue.
I'm now drinking water at restaurants and at home and saving quite a bit of money...for me, that's the biggest payoff of kicking that habit.0 -
I used to drink a lot of Diet Dr. Pepper, and then Dr. Pepper Ten came out, so I started drinking that (it's much better). However, after my lap-band surgery in April, I stopped all soda. I've only had two cups of Coke Zero (not even the full cans) on two different airline trips, and they both made me feel really bloated, so I haven't gone back. And honestly, I haven't really missed it. Plain water (tap, spring, doesn't matter) does have a "tinny" taste to it, so I've been using the flavored powders (Hawaiian Punch Sugar free, Crystal light, etc.). Also a big fan now of Propel Zero, VitaminWater Zero, Sobe Lifewater, and Fuze Slenderize (does have calaories (as much as 20 in a bottle), but you can't beat the taste (the Tropical Punch is amazing))0
