If the guy pays for dinner, a movie, or a specific event, it's a date. Otherwise it's hanging out.0

Hanging out means one or both people have no interest in pursuing an actual relationship. Dating means both people believe there may be the possibility of a relationship in the future. What you are actually doing doesn't define it -- the intentions behind it do. Hanging out is when there are NO romantic feelings involved. Usually consists of, watching a movie at home with popcorn and pop and the occasional belch & fart.
Dating, you sometimes go out to dinner, depending on his pay check and/or eat in, but there are romantic feelings involved & you run to the bathroom to fart, even if it's every 2 minutes.0 -
