Hurricane Sandy

My costume very likely will be The Swamp Thing made up of shredded garbage bags, so it should fare well in a rain storm here in DC. I still plan on going out with the daredevils tonight.0

Thank you for the safe wishes we made it through. We have one road under water and sand... The EOC are hoping to have the road open for the coming week.
Enjoy a safe and happy MFP week...0 -
We're getting the outer edge right now on the coast on NC. It's a little nasty outside tonight.
Stay safe everyone! Stock up n TP, seriously. TP.0 -
I'm in Buffalo, NY, but a lot of my family from here went down to Long Island for this weekend to visit permanent family there (hopefully leaving Monday before it hits full force there), and then another pair of people are going back that way for the NYC marathon on 4 November!
I hope things get on well with everyone in the storm's path.0 -
I am inland in CT so the wind is more of a danger to us here. My house is surrounded by trees. Good news is, all the lawn crap is in the basement, gas in the car, cans of gas for the chain saws, cash money, and a hotel reservation since we fell short on buying a generator. Should have learned our less on after last year but thought this would probably never happen again....well here we are! Bring on that biach...we are ready!!!0

Eastern NC here-- We are currently getting stupid amounts of rain, and crazy strong wind, but nothing hurricane-force. For once we are not the target of a hurricane--
For those who are, please stay safe!0 -
Down by the rivah here in VA, we have filled all the gas tanks, moved all the outdoor furniture etc inside the garage or barn and have stocked up on food & supplies. I looked and looked in the exercise library for "storm preparations", but amazingly, it wasn't there...guess I should wear a HRM to see how many calories burned! Be safe everyone.0

The only thing that is in Alabama is just cold and over cast. If that is the effect of the storm?
However, if you are in the parth of the storm, please, for the sake of god! Get what you need in order. Water! GET YOUR WATER!
I went through a five day black out last year. It wasn't fun..So have water and easy to make food on hand. I hope everyone will be save.0 -
Jersey City here, about 3/4 of a mile from the water. Stocked up on flashlights, batteries, and no-refrigeration-required food; we're just hoping it'll be as mild as Irene was last year. The streets flooded but we didn't lose power, so hopefully we'll get a repeat of that.0

Hubby and I are in Petersburg, VA... stocked up on bottled water, healthy snacks, batteries, etc. Prepping for the worst and praying for the best... right now it is calm and eerie outside... Even the dog is picking up on it, she is feeling very anxious.0

the storm will be in my path, feel sorry for her. :indifferent: :indifferent: :indifferent: :indifferent: :indifferent:0

I'm in Richmond, Virginia and people are going crazy over here. The shelves at Wal-mart are EMPTY:sick: . I bought 12 candles... that's all I need for a good time! :drinker: I already dusted off the board games!:smokin:
I hope the "state of emergency" warning is wrong and it won't be bad. The storm we had in July knocked out our power for 3 days... I hope that doesn't happen again but they are predicting that power will be out for 6-9 days. The worst part is that I may not be able to log in for days!!! :grumble:0 -
I'm in Delaware and supposedly right in the hurricane's path. Just praying and trusting God that it will not be as bad as they say. Everyone affected be safe!0
-
I am in South jersey - Ground Zero - it's getting nerve wracking, they are already in Emergency Management mode - have never seen anything like this before. Thanks for the thoughts, hopefully it will weaken.
Good luck and be safe!!!!0 -

I live in Maryland and we have been told if the power goes out it could be out for over a week. All the stores were crazy here. u would think its the end of the f-ing world.
I hope its not as bad as what they say it could be and I hope it does not hit where they think its going to cuz that puts me right in the eyes path:( Stay safe everyone.0 -

The news has gotta talk about something other than the election! It's all hype. It's gonna be just rain and wind. No biggie.0
-
Even here in Pittsburgh and west into Ohio is calling for TONS of rain and wind. We will all have to wait and see how it tracks. Everyone stay safe and dry.0
-
Stay safe! Sending prayers out for you and all my friends in the path! XO0

Thank you! I live on the beach in NC and have seen Sandy's effects for a couple days now. Sending positive thoughts to those north of me!0

I'm in South Jersey..45 miles inland of Atlantic City. yanno...where the big bullseye is on the weather maps.0

Living in New Orleans, I know first-hand on how hurricanes can change people's lives and throw you in another direction. Hurricane Katrina changed my life. I hope there is no significant loss or damage for anyone with this storm. I wouldn't wish what I went through on my worst enemy. Be safe East Coast.0

No difference in strength or size, the only reason why Katrina stood out was the flooding when the levees broke. The only place that should have flooding just as bad is lower Manhattan.0 -

The evacuation of the barrier islands was by 4pm today. My aunt is with Cape May County Bd of Health and has to stay put in N Cape May. They are 2 blocks from the bay. I have one friend in Brigantine who refuses to evacuate0
