Do you have a breakfast staple that's NOT oatmeal?

  • I like to eat eggs and turkey bacon. I am obsessed with Jennie O turkey bacon.

1 whole egg, 2 turkey bacon, strawberries
    or
1 large banana, 2 turkey bacon
    or
1 red potato diced, 1 whole egg, 2 turkey bacon
  • My fave breakfast right now is the high fiber english muffin with an egg. I toast the engllish muffin the night before and pack the uncooked egg in a small, muffin sized tupperware coated with cooking spray. When Im ready for breakfast at work, I microwave the egg on medium heat till the yolk is set and then microwave the toasted muffin. Eat that McDonalds!
I also like dinner leftovers for breakfast. Some people get grossed out by that but I like dinner foods more than breakfast.
Also, cottage cheese is pretty awesome. Lots of protein which I like in the am.

every Sunday night I boil a dozen eggs for the week and every morning I grab 2 hard boiled eggs and Oikos organic green yougurt 4oz. That's 220 calories and and about 23g of protein. Then have a cup of grapes or some other type of fruit for a mid morning snack. I like your sandwich idea though- might have to start that one.

2 egg whites + 1 whole egg, whipped with a little milk (makes them fluffy, i.e. tricks your mind into thinking you are eating more w/out the extra calories)
    2 ounces of cooked sausage
Piece of 50-cal Franz whole wheat bread w/butter & homemade jam
    ______
    Around 380 calories
    28g protein
    21g carbs

Keeps me full for several hours and fueled for morning workouts

One scoop Right Whey protein powder, 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 2 Tbsp PB2, and a frozen banana cut into chunks. Blend in blender. Tastes like ice cream! And for breakfast, no less!

    Pumpkin Almond Pancake
    2 TBSP Almond meal

    1/2 egg whites
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Mix ingredients together and cook as you would a pancake. This is one serving and about 240 calories.

    God bless,

Three eggs scrambled or over easy with hot sauce and a double fiber english muffin with real butter pretty much every morning. Takes maybe 5min to prepare fresh each day so I don't bother with any kind of making in advance and freezing.

I have a Larabar habit... some would say addiction LOL.
  • This may sound a bit weird, but it is yummy.

Toast a piece of whole wheat bread. Slice up a tomato and then top it with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. You can sprinkle with a bit of Lawry's seasoning salt. Then put it under the broiler and let the cottage cheese melt.

    Good luck!
  • Banana "pancakes"

    Smash 1 ripe banana thoroughly.
    Beat 2 whole eggs.
    Mix eggs and banana together.
Cook on a hot griddle like a pancake.

I like it topped with warm blueberries/and or strawberries.

Nummy. Can't even taste the eggs.

I like make a smoothie of a cup of frozen strawberries, half a banana, a cup of unsweetened almond milk, and a spoonful of sweetener. It's delicious and surprisingly filling :)

Also, nonfat vanilla greek yogurt with unsweetened cocoa powder and sweetener and some strawberries tastes great and gives a good balance of protein and carbs.

    I have 2 favorites.

Spinach, Egg White and Cheese Breakfast Wrap (usually have this with fresh fruit)

1 whole wheat, low carb tortilla
1/4 cup reduced fat cheddar cheese
1/2 cup all white liquid egg whites
    1/4 cup baby spinach leaves

    230 calories, 12 carbs, 7 fat, 28 protein, 7 fiber

    Kefir Smoothie

1 cup lowfat, plain unsweetened Kefir
1 cup frozen berries (I used mixed, but any kind will do)
    1 Tbsp agave nectar
    1 Tbsp golden flaxseeds

    300 calories, 47 carbs, 7 fat, 16 protein, 9 fiber

Both are sooooo delicious. Kefir smoothie is a little high in calories and carbs, but it contains a healthy fat (flaxseeds) which I sometimes have trouble getting in on my diet and the carbs come from fruit and the kefir.

Way to go!.............btw...............oatmeal is one of my new staples............with some other stuff...........less healthy than what your considering....

I eat curry for breakfast. Usually its just meat, veggies broth and spices. I cant stand eggs and dont like eating unnecessary carbs, so most traditional breakfasts are out. I also eat chorizo with 1/2 a potato for brunch on the weekends, I can afford more calories/carbs when pooling breakfast and lunch.

1 cup Multigrain Cheerios and 1/2 cup 2% milk. It fills me up for the most part.
  • Small serving of Kellogg's Raisin Bran (no added sugar), 3-4 oz 1% milk, medium banana, hot tea w/o sugar. Had IBS (mild) and this cleared it up in less than 3 weeks, in addition to being pretty tasty. But it does use up the vast majority of allowed sugar in one meal.

Hummus and corn thins. four tablespoons of hummus (whole foods roasted red pepper- yum!) and four corn thins are 232 calories. I find the hummus fills me up...

Kashi's Go Lean cereal (has same protein as one egg and lots of fiber) with blueberries (great anti-oxidants) and skim milk- yum!
