I've known my whole life that I wanted to be a doctor or a nurse. I just couldn't hack so many years of school or the $$, so I opted for nursing. I have my BSN and work in the NICU and love my job.

I began work as a legal assistant when I was 20 years old. This year I accepted a position in the legal department of a large company. My title is administrative assistant.

In college, I wanted to be a special education teacher, but I didn't want to deal with student loans and so I only completed my Associate's Degree. One day I hope to go back. I also think it would be fun to work with animals.

I also sell mark. (Avon's boutique brand). I like selling mark. because I don't have to deal with quotas or penalties so I can set it aside for a month or longer if I need too.

By the grace of God, through no plan of my own, I am a homeschool mom. I've been a hairstylist, waitress, software buyer, program coordinator for a PhD program, and admin and tech support for software company, and supervised contractors for an apartment complex. This is the most satisfying job I've ever had! My son had a speech delay, sensory issues, and was hyperactive. Nothing seemed to work. I cried my eyes out to God, and said, "I know you said that all things are working for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose - but HOW is this going to work for good!". Well, we started homeschooling, and I got to watch my child for hours on end, seeing what his abilities and weaknesses were. At 4, he wasn't talking, but I realized he knew what I was saying! He could read! He could play the piano! He could do math and use the computer, he could do photography! He had a great memory! He had a sense of humor! He loves to garden and solve puzzles! And teach his sisters!

My daughter also had a speech delay. And at three, she could read, and play the piano, and TROUBLESHOOT the computer!!! My youngest doesn't have any of these problems, but benefits from learning from her siblings.

I didn't do this. My children are learning at a much faster rate than I'm teaching them. God has done this!

My mother used to be a principal and was very opposed to homeschooling. But, now that her wonderful grandson has developed so much so quickly, she thinks it was the right way to go.

I spend my days being creative, laughing, going to the museum, zoo, park, learning and teaching. It was very hard at first, but now it's easy. So, it DID work out for my good, and the good of my entire family. God worked it out!!!!!!!

It almost makes me cry when I hear my son say his prayers.

I'm an IT guy. I got a BFA in Computer Animation but never could get a foot in the door. I've always been into computers and found an entry level IT guy job in the paper back in 2003 and now I'm in corporate IT.

It can be fun but it has it's moments when you want to pull your hair out.

I love my job, I would never suggest becoming a graphic designer in a small city. I would suggest the medical field.

I'm a regional coordinator for 5 states for a non-profit. I help coordinator mentors for those newly injured with spinal cord injuries, old injuries, or people just needing someone to talk to. My job has a lot of duties, but I love that I get to help people.

Fire Protection Engineer. (I design fire/life safety systems, aka sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems, for various occupancy types. I also do field inspections of job sites for code analysis. I tinker with HVAC, electrical and telecommunications design as well.)

I originally went to school for Fire/Arson Investigation with hopes of landing a job with the ATF, however, once I realized the curriculum wasn't challenging enough for me, I decided to switch to the prevention side of things (instead of the post-fire side). I also have certificates in Fire Prevention and Industrial Fire Protection, and have recently sat for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam a few weeks ago, and I'm awaiting the results. Next step is to get my Certified Fire Plan Examiner, Certified Fire Protection Specialist, and Certified Fire Inspector.

It's a great field if you like challenges, math, science, and want something that changes day to day. It is a lot of reading (codes) and computer work, but there are so many fields you can go in to (insurance, consulting, design, R&D, etc.) that you can find the field that fits your wants. Also, it's a job that will ALWAYS be in demand. Oh, and you save lives (indirectly).

Remember, fire sprinklers save lives. They're something you want to have, but don't want to have to use.

Somedays I would like to go back to school for something...either forensics or surgical but all student loans are paid off and I don't want to put us back in debt and my job is pretty easy peasy.

i work at carls jr its a fast food place (just in case people dont know) and it sucks ive been there for 6 months already but im waiting for an interview for a new job it should be less stressful. dieting at a fast food place isnt easy

Currently, I'm an RN working in home health...and it's sort of OK. Used to work in the hospital and that was a new level of hell! Currently going back to school to get a B.A. in English and looking towards medical writing as a career, or something else in the academic/research field where I can use my knowledge as a nurse without the clinical element.

Honestly, if I had it to do over again, I would not major in nursing. It is rewarding in the ways you can expect, but it's also stressful and exhausting in many ways that you would not. Mostly, I do not want to sit around an become one of the cynical nurses that you meet. I think I am very nearly done with the clinical side of nursing. Yes, it pays fairly well...but that usually doesn't make up for the long hours, staffing issues, and general stressfulness of the job. In the US, anyways, things aren't looking up for nurses as there continues to be low job satisfaction and a growing shortage of nurses.

My advice, do what you love. I think choosing a career just because you think that it will provide you the most financial stability is stupid. Yeah, you need a good job...but, as long as you can afford the basics, you will be happier in an industry or field you have a passion for than one you chose because it was the "smart choice."

Network administrator for a large state agency = sitting on my butt 8-10 hrs day working my fingers muscles. Add in additional 2 hrs of commute time per day and it's no wonder I'm struggling.
