What do I do when I'm working out?.............
Usually work out.
me too0 -
have naughty thoughts, and enjoy my work out. Why would I need to do anything to distract me? It is the best part of my day.0
-
As I am always outdoors on the bike, I would have to say soaking in the scenery or thinking things over.0
-
Listen to loud music and lift heavy stuff.
When I do cardio on the treadmill I can't stand the TV being on, I always turn it to a channel that doesn't come in right so the screen is black. It drives me nuts to watch tv while I run.0 -
I read books on my iPad (Kindle app) while doing cardio. While I'm lifting, I'm just lifting, nothing else.0

same here....I have my iphone playing music while I'm at the gym but that's mainly so people won't talk to me (LOL Sorry but I'm there to work out not meet people) I zone out while I'm working out and don't even listen to what's playing
Yes yes yes....both of these! Im there to workout- please leave me alone, thats why I have my headphones on and dont look at you in the eye!0 -
I watch TV at my local YMCA gym with headphones. When doing water aerobic I just talk (sometimes) with other women or just enjoy the quiet. When I go for a walk I enjoy the quiet and scenery.0
-
I listen to loud heavy metal, pref acdc, tool, disturbed and picture myself skinny the whole time.0
-
If I'm stuck on a treadmill/hamsterwheel, I enjoy rehashing my plans to take over the world.

I read "War & Peace" in between sets.
The entire book.
And no, you can't "work in."
LOVE this!! Dang you get a nice long work out0 -
Right now, its enjoying the morning stars and 80's rock on my iphone. I also love the nothingness of just running without any apps in my ear. The vineyards, the wild life, the silence, the sunrise. All this makes for a fantastic day regardless of what ends up happening at work.0

I started listening to audiobooks. It really helps pass the time. I was finding myself getting really bored on the elliptical and recumbent bike. Now I stay the full time without any problem with boredom.0
-
if you are able to read a book while working out you aren't working out hard enough.0
-
Yoga - breathe, sweat, try not to get stuck in a pose
running - breathe, sweat, music/app instructions
any other exercise - breathe, sweat.......

1. Check out men
2. zone out - the treadmill is the only place in my life where I can actually get no distractions
3. music, lots of it, while checking out men
4. Think about what I'm going to have for dinner
5. check out men0 -
I love having music while on the elliptical or treadmill for days when I don't have a set "plan". I try to follow the beat of the song that's playing to decide if I will be walking or jogging for the next few minutes0

^^^^ This. If I can comfortably read, I'm not pushing myself hard enough. If I'm strength training, I'm focused on form and performing each task properly to avoid injury. If I'm going for a run, I'm daydreaming.0 -
just gotta have my ipod and im set it died the other day during a workout and so did my energy0
-
I put on my mp3 player while I do the cross-trainer or treadmill at the gym, I feel like the music gets me going faster0
-
I listen to podcasts.0

When I'm working out... I work out.0

Interesting question... as a rule:
Long social runs and bike rides (anything over 8 miles) - I chat to my friends. one of them has a T-Shirt saying "Run at the speed of chat" which is a great philosophy if all you want to do is rack up the miles....
Running or Cycling outside on my own I never have any distractions... I find I go into a sort of meditative state and can just enjoy the sights and sounds around me as I pass.
Any workout indoors I listen to music. I find it more important for CV than weights... it energises me when I'm starting to get tired (and bored). Weight lifting music is just (pleasant) background noise.
Thinking about sex when I work out is at best embarrassing - especially in my running/cycling Lycra. At worst a guy can do himself a nasty injury with a barbell...0 -
Between sets of curls in the squat rack I like to flex in the mirror and creep on the female clientele.
When benching my spotter gets a few bonus sets of barbell rows helping me get the bar off my chest.0 -
on my own... just my workout. no music no nothing.
with my trainer... swear at him
in classes... do what I'm told and try to smile through it!0 -
I noticed that I lose the most weight on elliptical but I hate hate hate this machine. So I put on my iPod with some music and exercise on the elliptical for an hour. I need some good rhythm to keep me going, otherwise I slow down. Can't do it without music.0
-
I just work out. No music, no entertainment.
It gives me time to think. I find exercise is good therapy.0
