I'm 5'2 and I am jogging at 3.7ish... I just figured it was because of my height.0

That is walking for me as well. I'm 5'5" and I don't start running until 4.8 on the treadmill - I have always been a fast walker.0

Too awkward to jog at that speed. I find that 4.7 is when I start to jog , My slow-moderate jogs are 5.0-6.0mph.0

4mph is really awkward for me. and I am really tall. If I'm going to walk, I'd rather it be 3.5 or so and if I'm jogging, I'd rather it be closer to 5...0

Please do't talk about yourself this way. There are enough folks out there willing to cut us down for not being cookie-cutter stick figures. We don't need to do it for ourselves.

I'm 5'3.5 and have short legs. 4mph = too fast to walk comfortably, too slow to jog comfortably. I'm usually at 4.2mph for a steady jog, 5mph is getting into sprint land, and the fatest i've tried is 7.2mph which is a serious-about-to-fall-off-the-machine sprint. I am walking briskly at 3 - 3.5 mph.0

I posted a similar question this morning. I go for a walk/jog a few times a week. I jog most of it, but I'm certainly not running like the track and field kids that pass me by! Either way, I've calculated I'm walking/jogging at about 3.8 mph. I'm 5.6 and 206 lbs so even though 3.8 mph is not a full sprint, I still sweat and feel my heart rate is higher than when I walk fast.
The following is a copy of a response with a link I found very helpful. I think jogging burns more cals than walking the same distance if you are jogging below a certain speed. Check it out.

If you're jogging is approaching the 10 min mile (or even a 12 min mile) that's 5-6 mph which would make for very fast walking.
In general your net calorie burn (ie additional calories burned as a result of exercise) will be approx .63 x your body weight per mile for running and .30 x your body weight per mile for walking.

Oops! forgot to also say (and I'm definitely no expert) that how many calories you burn probably also depends on whether you're walking/jogging outdoors vs a threamill.0

I was jogging at 4mph. Last week, I decided to see if I would do better at 5mph and I did pretty good. Glad I'm not the only one who is jogging at 4mph0

I do both depends on my mood.. I'm 5'30

I am 5'6" and 4.5 is about my limit for walking. It is more comfortable for me to jog than walk above that, even though my jogging is pretty slow.0

I jog at around 4.5 mph (jogging in place), walking at around 5 mph, outside jogging at around 5.5 mph and moderate running at 6 mph.0

I am just under 5'2".
When I started, it was a tough walk at 3.0 for me. Now, my walk is regularly about 3.7.
4.0 used to be a run, now it is a walk/ jog. When I do jog sprints now, if it is for a longer period it is in the 4.3 range, sprints in the 4.7 - 5.0 range.
One of my long term fitness goals is to average better than a 10 minute mile (6.0) for three miles - a 5K in 30 minutes or less.0 -

I'm used to walking at 4 mph I get to the jog stage around 5.5-6 mph. I have never really gone any faster.0

Funny...this is a bit disillusioning for me. I'm 5'5", and 3.3 mph is as fast as I can walk. Today I had to slow down and walk longer instead, because I had pain in my lower legs and in my right hip bursa joint. I can't imagine ever getting past 3.5 mph. Granted, I can swim 34 laps (although it takes me about 50 minutes). Anyway, kind of depressing. Almost like I'm not doing anything at all compared to everyone else.0

I am 5'4" and when I am on the treadmill I am walking at 4.0 mph. I use the Runkeeper app. and go out and do walk/jog intervals. My current routine is 5 min warm up walk and then 2 minutes fast walking and then 2 minutes jogging. I usually average out at about 12.5 mph.0

Actually, there are several studies out now that have proven that running/jogging burns more calories than walking at the same speed.

I started jogging at the same speed I was walking (4.5 mph), did that for a week, increasing the time jogged, and then started upping the speed slowly. Three weeks later, I'm now running at 5 MPH for 40 minutes.
I really believe that it was mind over matter as far as how fast I thought I could go--I was using the treadmill numbers to hold me back! When I went running with my brother-in-law on a track, I ended up running 5MPH without any trouble (I had only run at 4.5 on the treadmill until then). I realized that I was looking at the numbers on the treadmill too much instead of listening to my body. Once I broke free of the number trap, my speed and endurance increased dramatically.0 -

I'm don't fit the target demographic for this question (I'm a 5'7 male), but I wanted to jump in to warn you about walking at 4.0 mph.
Basically, I've been walking on the treadmill 5 out of 7 days a week for a month total for about 45 minutes each time. I've progressed from 3.3 to 4.0.
After a few sessions of pretty fast walking at 4.0, I've started to get pain in both my feet (heels) which reminded me of the plantar fasciitis that I used to have years ago.
I'm wearing New Balance trainers with the correct arch support ... etc., but it just seems that walking at that speed alters your walking dynamics significantly and the heels are pounded on much more than normal walking or jogging.
I'm since switched to a slow jog at 4.3 (jogging at 4 was awkward for my pace), and the heel pain has all but went away after a week of this.
So, please be careful of fast walking at 4.0 mph, and I suggest either switching to a jog, or slowing down to a 3.5 or so (with an incline if you'd like to increase the challenge).

I am 5'7.5" and on the treadmill the fastest I can walk is 3.5.. I would have to jog at 4.0.. When I walk outside I usually walk 3.3 and that seems the fastest I can seem to walk.. I would really love to job but every time I try the fronts of my legs start hurting.. Maybe I should just take it slower..0

I am also 5'4" and 4 mph is definitely a jog. Anything over 3.7 mph is a jog for me.
