I haven't had any fizzy drinks or alcohol in a VERY long time, I drink around 2.5 litres of water a day and always drink peppermint tea. (great just after a meal!)

I can't remember the last time I ate chocolate!!

Just finished my lunch and I was so tempted to buy a packet of cheese and onion crisps to go with it, but I stopped and looked at the calorie content which equaled to 80% of a 1hr step class for me  soooo not worth it:laugh:

I increased my water intake by 24 ounces and walked 1.25 miles twice at work. Not huge steps but definitely steps in the right directions.

I'm sat here at work staring at cadbury fingers, doughnuts and iced buns (This is almost daily with a team this large) and I'm not touching :)

When I start thinking about the amount of gym work I would have to do to burn it off it really puts me off wanting them.

Baby steps is what it is all about. Great job with increasing your water and your walking. Keep it up!!

I climbed the three flights of stairs to my office this morning, I was wheezing when I was done (so very sexy, i know) but I did it.

I think I would hate to work in your office. I don't have that kind of will power

I was wheezing, too, but I did it.

My little success today was sucking it up and doing the walk in the rain. Normally I'd get hubby to drive me in if it's wet outside, but today, I thought "I want my 15 minutes of morning exercise", so I did it.

and decided tomorrow I'm going to leave a few minutes earlier, and walk to the farther stop.

I caught myself mindlessly eating off my kids' plates as I cleared the dinner table.
And then when I noticed it -- this maybe TMI for some -- spat their leftovers down the kitchen disposal.
Proud of myself for becoming mindful about eating, even as old habits die hard!

I used to do that A LOT. I bake as a stress reliever. Not very helpful when trying to lose weight, but that's what I do. One of the things I have learned to do when making frostings etc, is instead of licking the spoon clean, I put the dirty spoon or beater, whatever into soapy water as soon as I am finished with it.

    Just a thought :flowerforyou:

Chocolate isn't all bad you know. Dark (70% or more) is actually very healthy for you. It's full of antioxidents...I really like Endangered Species brand 88% dark-called Panther.

Last night, I said no to homemade Filipino food - one of my biggest weaknesses. Instead, I ate soup and a half PBJ sandwich for dessert, and closed out my day under my calorie goal.

Gah, they're EEEEVILLLL, those lumpia. (again, not sure I spelled it right).

I grew up with a lot of Filipino friends, and man... their food was always so yummeh.

Good on you for being strong!!

I parked really really far away when I went to the grocery store yesterday and when I was in the store buying groceries I actually read the labels and bought pretzels with no fat instead of chips.
  • This week I've walked by my co-workers cubicle and haven't picked out any candy out of his candy dish, This is big for me because I used to dive into it everyday in passing. :-)

I haven't stopped at the vending machine all week! Haven't had any chocolate :) (Although... I did purposely leave my money at home)

JJ, I love those days!! When I forget my debit card is usually when I'm craving the most and there ain't no way in hell I'm driving 10-15 minutes for a craving. Forget that! I'll use my gas to hit up the gym!! :)

What brand did you get? I just buy the 79c package at CVS but they have a lot of fat!! AHHH. I love pretzels. :(

Last night I caved and had a piece of leftover Little Caesar's in the fridge (I avoided it for 2 days) and only because I had the leftover calories. I went over my fat & carbs but you know what? I almost went for a 2nd piece and I DIDN'T. And I still lost 1 lb today.

I made a turkey sandwich for lunch today (fat-free turkey breast, olive-oil mayo, mustard, whole wheat bread, alfalfa sprouts), and skipped the cheese.

I LOVE cheese. But I figured I didn't want those calories.

    Yay!

I had two offers from friends today - one was running out and wanted to bring me back a fountain coke (used to be my favorite!) I said No thanks! Then an hour later another was running out for lunch and offered to bring me something back, once again - no thanks - I have my 98% fat free chicken slices on an Arnold sandwich thin with mustard and spinach and fresh fruit - I think I'm good! YEAH!!!!

I had someone come around the office today with cookies, macaroons, eclaires (fudge eclairs), and it's cake day.

I've turned down everything except a 60 calorie macaroon (which was SO worth it).

God, but I wanted that eclaire, though.

    But I said no.

I went out to eat last night, asked for a to go box before I started eating, and put away half for later. I also drank water instead of tea, which is big for me cause that restaurant has awesome sweet tea and I normally drink 4 glasses.

I did, however, have a sushi roll. I thought it wouldn't be that bad for me considering that it's fish. Then today I looked it up (well, something I assumed was close to it at least) and it was a whooping 500 calories (though it's very hard to estimate sushi calories, so maybe it's wrong??). *sigh* It's a learning process.

Anyone know of any good Blackberry apps to help count calories while eating out?

What kind of sushi roll was it? And a roll is more like 8 pieces, so did you actually have a whole roll? Some people think a roll is one piece.
  • MFP has certainly been a learning experience for me. We went to order Chinese food the other night and I looked up ANY Chinese food that A) I liked and B) was low in calories and voila, there was NOTHING!!!! It's all so high in sodium and calories. So I had an eggroll *sigh*

It's called a Yamato roll, that a restaurant named Yamato's makes. I likened it to a Rainbow roll b/c I thought the ingredients were pretty similar (minus avacado, add mayo). it was a not just a piece, it was a whole roll (5 pieces), It had tuna, yellow tail, crab (imitation) & eel. I think there was also cucumber in it and a light spicy mayo. Of course, sticky rice and the seaweed paper too. I knew the mayo and sticky rice would be bad, but there is such a small amount of rice in it that I thought it wouldn't be too terribly bad. I thought uncooked fish would be pretty healthy though, so I figured it would be.. oh I dunno 2-300 calories, not 500. But again, I'm sure it's hard to figure out calories for sushi b/c everyone makes it differently.

This part will be so hard! We always have chocolate at my office. ALWAYS! Those little minis... that you can just eat and eat and eat. I need to somehow fight off those cravings and stop myself from reaching into the basket when I walk by!

Instead of doing the 12-15 minutes to my regular bus stop this morning, I left early, and power-walked (huffing and puffing), for 40 minutes, to a stop a few down the line. Then I did 3 flights of stairs.

That's great. Sometimes I wish I didn't live in the burbs...but then I wouldn't have my wonderful garden and big yard.

Excellent idea!!!! I always drink water at dinner when I am out.. or a glass of wine. I just don't think I can stop drinking a glass of wine with dinner sometimes.

Today I became one of those people that annoys the hell out of me.

    I walked up the escalator.

So, I've now done 50 minutes of walking, and about 9 flights of stairs (though three were halfers, so let's say 7.5 flights of stairs) today... I've put in both breakfast and lunch, and still have my FULL calorie count to eat!

    Wow!
