What foods have you cut out?

Hiya,
I not for sure if this question has been asked before but I was wondering what foods and/or liquids did you have to cut out while on this lifestyle change. When you took away this food did you notice an immediate change? Just wanted to post this and thought it would help some of the people just getting started.
I myself used to eat cheese with everything and I always kept it on hand at home. Parmesan, harvarti, mozzerella, sharp cheddar, american, white american, you name it!!! But as soon as my trainer brought it to my attention to cut out the cheese, I did. Now don't get me wrong a cheese lover like me couldn't just stop cold turkey but I did cut back significantly to the point now that I rarely have cheese with my meals. After this I noticed my weight started to come off a little bit faster. Instead of a half lb or 1lb coming off a week I was loosing 2lbs or more a week, which really aided to my so far 23lbs weight loss.
My next step will be to take away the bread, bye bye sandwhiches, well just cutting back :-)

I am a firm believer that the biggest thing you can cut out that's going to help you lose weight quicker is any drink with calories. This includes booze (which I still drink, trust me) but I swapped out beers for vodka/soda water or champagne, and only occasionally treat myself to frilly coffee drinks or put extra creamer in my coffee.0

I would never be successful if I cut out cheese, bread, and sandwiches!! I eat all of those almost everyday(probably more than once for cheese). I didn't give up any one food just changed the amount of it I eat.0

I cut out soda altogether. I used to be a diet pop junkie haven't had one since January 2nd. I noticed that I felt alot better after getting that mess out of my system. There was no nutritional value at all and no benefit. Now it's water most of the time for me and it's working!0

Nothing. There's a time and a place for everything. Yes, even chicken wings.0

Animal products...meat,dairy, etc. This was for health reasons, and not for weight loss, though it has had great effects on both health and weight loss. I have cut way back on diet sodas, and drink a TON more water. Trying to give up the soda completely, but still can't quite make it!0

I cut back, not cut out.0

Muffins (except for the occasional)
Beer
Cheese on anything and everything0 -
Muffins are the mistaken healthy food. Cheese and I did have a thang going on but I had to tell him we were better off as friends :-)0

Sodas and sweets - OUT! I dropped 10 pounds almost immediately just from getting off these things!
I would get horrible headaches when I cut out the sodas (caffeine withdrawls), so for a while I drank sweet tea. Then I went to using Splenda and finally went to unsweet tea. Now I mostly drink water & throw in an ocassional tea or margarita. Sweets are still a weakness, but I have cut WAY back. I limit myself to a couple pieces of dark chocolate, or a couple sugarfree cookies every now & then.0 -
I haven't cut out anything. There are foods I've cut down on but I haven't eliminated anything completely from my diet.0

This!
Why not enjoy the things you like? Doesn't make sense IMO.0 -
Diet pop... yes DIET. And I LOST 10 additional pounds!!!!0
-
Nothing. Just less of everything.0

i used to eat cheese everyday and bread...i havent completely cut them as i will have them once in a while but not everyday like i used to. works wanders0

Alcohol and processed foods. I still have my glass of wine every now and then but very rare.0
-
Nothing. Everything in moderation is the key0

just about everything.0

Nothing I eat what I want as long as it is small and fitts into my daily calories.0

I have cut out red meat and soda entirely. I have also cut out any processed foods. I shop on the outside of the market. I have also cut out beer, white wine, and almost all alcohol. If I am going to drink. It's once a week and it's vodka. But I am working towards not drinking at all!!!0

I'm vegan so I do limits certain foods. BUT I pretty much EAT what ever I want. I don't believe in restricting myself.
It's about the portion control. If you restrict yourself you are asking to fail. Just find what works for you and do it.
Good Luck..0 -
I wouldn't say I have completely cut out anything, but I have drastically cut down on foods with refined sugar, soda and those high calorie lattes from coffee places. I try to find suitable replacements for things that are unhealthy, but do occasionally indulge if it fits my calories/macros for the day.0

soda
alcohol
all juices
refined sugar
all breads
all pasta's
milk
most fruits (because of the sugar. i still eat bunches of veggies ^_^)
added salt
.. and i'm probably forgetting some, but thats what i can think of for now ^_^0 -
The only thing I cut out was pop, everything else I try to eat in moderation.
I think life is too short to completely deprive yourself of what you like0 -
Refined sugar. I know that people say "eat less" of what you like but I'm one of those people that needs a hard rule. I was stalling a bit in my loss and decided, after looking at my diary, no more refined sugar. It was hard for a day or two but after that it was super easy and I felt (and feel) so much better. I plan on reintroducing some refined sugar in my diet but not for a bit. I like the discipline. It works for my personality. Also I had lots more calories available for healthier choices!0

I haven't cut anything out, just adjusted the amount I eat. One thing that has made a huge difference is eating more fibre - wholemeal bread, quinoa, brown rice, plenty of veg etc. I never go hungry!
And I have swapped wine for gin and slimline tonic when I drink. Which is less frequent. When I do have wine I can literally see the pounds going back on.0 -
I've cut out all grain products - bread, cookies, rice, etc. After I had done that I found that I was actually rather gluten intolerant and probably had been for quite a long time. When I eliminated those things, my digestion improved greatly, I wasn't hungry all the time and I began to actually be able to lose weight. I substitute plenty of organic raw veggies for the fiber I would have gotten from grain products and along with those eat organic fruit, lean meat and fish. I walk daily but don't really work out otherwise.0

I haven't cut out anything. Some things I eat less often, but if I want something I'll have it. I just fit it into my goals and call it good.0

I havent cut anything out - cutting things out is a diet and this is a lifestyle change for me.
What I have done is cut my portion sizes down to a more acceptable amount, for example eating 2oz of cheese every day instead of 6oz. I keep within my macros. The biggest change that I've made besides portion sizes is cutting out / lowering sodium - when I keep the sodium low (I try for under 2000mg/day) the weight drops very nicely - sodium goes up and so does the weight. Something else I've noticed is if I've had a higher sodium day and a heavy workout day on the same day - the soreness from the workout takes longer to go away. No idea if they're truly related but it's an interesting coincidence and just another reason for me to keep the sodium down.
I would guess that it's not cutting out the cheese that's causing the greater losses - it's cutting the sodium that's in the cheese that's doing it - unfortunately cheese has fairly high sodium.0 -
I eat less fast food. A lot less.
I eat less snacks and sweets.
I will still eat those things sometimes, but in moderation - fitting it into my calorie goal for the day, log it and move on.0 -
Nothing.
Except Pop Tarts, but only because I replaced them with much more delicious and satisfying breakfasts.
And that's been the key for me... I always looked at it more as "what can I add to my menu?" than "what can I take out?" I still eat pasta and rice, but I stir in a pile of vegetables. So I'm still eating the same volume of food, but it's less calories and more nutrition. Instead of chocolate bars, I'm having protein bars. Still the same chocolatey goodness, but with 10-20g of protein instead of 2g. The Balance Bar Caramel Nut Blast I just had tasted just like a Snickers.0
