Once upon a time, long, long ago, back in the days of MUDs and Talkers, I met a lot of people on line who I later met IRL. Normally, if they freaked you out on line, they were likely to be even worse IRL, so I'm glad I normally met them en masse  Back then, in the UK at least, the majority were in computing or at uni and it's interesting to think how times have changed.

I'm glad I have good online friends here now. I think it is important to remember that MOST of the people are real, with real emotions, and can be hurt just as easily as in real life.

As for being friends with Taunto, it seems an unattainable dream....

It was even before those days (1989) that I met my wife of 22+ years online.

Best.Post.Ever. I talk to my MFP pals as much as, and in some cases more than, my real-life friends. I love them ...

If only my husband understood this....

I 'met' another guitarist on a forum for posting music ideas etc and we got to chatting. I added some drums to a track of his and we got to chatting. Turned out he lived on the opposite side of Glasgow (Around 45min away). About 3 or 4 months later he asked if I'd be up for meeting up with one of his friends for a jam in Glasgow. 3 or 4 years later, we're still in the band, enjoying writing, recording, jamming and gigging together....

Wouldn't have happened without a chance meeting on a guitar forum...
