Today I had frozen strawberries, 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (EAS Lean 15), 1 cup Tillamook light vanilla yogurt, Tropicana 50 with Calcium and Vitamin D, and a couple generous handfuls of spinach. Also good with frozen tropical fruit mix. I like to use the Trop 50 as a base when I get sick of almond milk or coconut milk and want a lighter smoothie. Can also add flax seeds and/or omit the yogurt, depending on how substantial you want it to be.

I have the Ninja Pro also, and it works GREAT for spinach, whole raw carrots, etc. It's certainly not going to work as well as a Vitamix or something of that nature, but it's also about $400 less than a Vitamix. The Ninja blades go all the way up inside the blender rather than just being a little spinning mini-claw at the bottom, which is the case with your cheaper blenders.

Yay!! I have these every morning. I love and crave them.

    1. 2 cups baby spinach, or baby kale, or "Power to the greens" (Trader joe's mix of baby spinach, baby kale, baby chard). Using baby greens tastes better, they are more tender and mild. I use all organic

    2. 1/2 frozen banana

    3. 1 pear with skin

    4. 1 cup water

    5. 1/3 cup greek yogurt

    6. small handful cilantro

Blended in my regular Oster blender from target. Blend the greens first, then add the fruit and yogurt. SOOO TASTY!

261 calories. 14 grams protein, 10 grams fiber.

You can also add a gala apple (with skin) or berries and parsley along with chia seeds. Someone gave me the tip to always have at least a banana or pear in the mix to help keep the texture smooth and it is very true.

As I type this I am drinking:

    1.5 cups frozen chopped spinach
    1 small banana
    1 small apple
    1/4 of honey greek yogurt
    1 tablespoon flaxseed
    2/3 skim milk

It's 354 calories but its huge! Maybe 4 cups worth. With 17 grams of protein :D

    Some I've done this week:

    Chocolate Covered Blueberry:
100 grams spinach or collard greens (or whatever but those are the two I've used this week)
    150 grams blueberries
14 gr (1/2 square) unsweetened dark chocolate
1 TBS Torani dark chocolate sauce (optional)
    ice and Stevia if needed.

It was so yummy I had it twice this week. You could sub other berries for the blueberries. I know both cherries and strawberries are good in this.

    Applets Smoothie:
    1 apple, cored
    30 grams walnuts
90 grams Kale (or other green)
    1/2 tsp Cinnamon
    a dash of ginger
1 tsp raw honey or sweetener of choice
    ice and/or water as needed

I usually just use around 100 grams of greens (collard, kale, romaine (use more) spinach, greens from beets, mustard, etc)
and pair it with two fruit choices. I usually add 30 grams of nuts or I'll do a tablespoon of chia or flax because this is my breakfast. You can add yogurt, milk, coconut milk, cottage cheese or protein powder for added protein. I often do but it was the week before payday so I was out and had to use water. :)

My favorite way to sweeten a smoothie is by throwing a pitted date in there. They are very sweet and add minerals. Or I like stevia or honey but you can obviously use whatever you want!

Oh, another good one I made this week was a raspberry pear smoothie! That one was bursting with flavor! (Raspberries, a pear, almonds, little bit of cinnamon, stevia and flax seed. It would have been great with yogurt if I'd had any.)

Just look at flavors you like in other foods and make a smoothie out of it! In the fall I like pumpkin spice or apple pie smoothies. The sky is the limit!

    This morning's concoction...

    175g plain greek yogurt (3/4cup)
    1 tray ice cubes
    20g choc whey isolate
    2Tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened
    15g peanut flour, defatted
    150g frozen strawberries
    4 cups spinach
4oz each almond milk and water

This was enormous. Truthfully, enough for 2 huge servings. But at 354 calories I ate it all (took me about 25 minutes)... :blushing: It was great fuel for my hard workout today. 50g of protein and 12g of fiber, too.
