  • I agree with most of this....but it's hard to take advice from someone who has 53lbs to lose and has lost 0lbs.

Come talk to us when you have a 6-pack. :-)

Though, if you bring me a 6-pack of Founder's Porter, you can spout for hours about whatever you want.

Sounds very familiar from a different member who was banned a day or two ago. Inflammatory manner is very familiar as well.

I want to read more, because it's entertaining watching this kind of crap picked apart by those who know and have done better.

I don't agree that people want to be lied to about weight loss. The media lies about weight loss because people want a quick fix and are willing to try crazy things on the off chance that this one thing might really be a miracle. They are not happy when it turns out to be a lie. They didn't want it to be a lie. They just don't want to be inconvenienced or alter their lifestyle to achieve a goal.

I am sorry Zaxx....I bow down to you....your intellect is far superior to mine. Or was that the dinner plate website that was superior yesterday?

Also, when reporting on your experiences, source books, studies and scienfific articles you've read to back up your points.

e.g. I have had great success through intermittent fasting. I was drawn to this method after reading the books The 4 hour work week by Tim Ferris, Eat Stop Eat by Brad Pilon and watching the Horizon documentry "Eat, Fast, Live Longer" and reading articles on the Lean Gains website and reading other books written from official tested studies "blah blah blah" showing the effectiveness of certain health supplements and exercise routines to help control blood sugar levels.

I think I made my point.

I just don't think you coming in here, telling everyone that you are right, and there are wrong are worth anyone's time...

Im interested in hearing the rest. You are absolutely right about the insulin thing, Im the poster child for that!
  • Nope, I think I've heard enough. Definitely not interested in reading your last three points. Honestly, I couldn't help but wonder why you feel you are an expert when:

    1. You JUST joined MFP
    2. You have lost 0 of 53 pounds so far

I'm fine with people sharing what works for them and offering suggestions on what might work for others, but once you start get preachy, you lose me...BIG TIME.

Excuse me while I enjoy my Special K bar AND the 18+ pounds I've lost without your so-called "expert" advice...

    troll thread is trolling.

i hope newbs don't get sucked in.

the OP had so many troll posts deleted by the mods yesterday that he was down to a -1 (minus 1) post count at one point.

Ah yes. This was the guy who posted a couple days ago about how MFP was such an inferior app and a waste of his time. Gotta keep trollin' along.

Give good advice in a no nonsense manner. Get banned.

Post multiple posts, in a short amount of time, that get consistently deleted by mods. Keep on floating.

    Please continue.

However, if I hear any mention of the unholy trinity (Taubes / Mercola / Eades) I reserve the right to roll my eyes.

I was interested...until you said "calorie in calorie out is moronic."

So I lost 73 pounds putting less calories in and putting more calories out. And I'm not a moron. Tuned you right out.

^^this^^ and notice that this person joined Jan 2013...lots to say already! I've lost plenty on the calorie in/calorie out theory, thank you very much!

Say what you want to say, but two points of advice before you go any futher

    1) Don't call people morons

Who did I call a moron?

    2) Don't assume or infer that your way is the only way. You are free to have your own opinion on here. There are lots of METHODS for weight loss, different methods work for different people. I am very insulin sensitive, but eating 6 meals a day sure as hell didn't work for me. Intermittent fasting (eating two meals from 3pm-9pm) does work for me, very successfully in fact. I found this after 3 years of trying many different methods. Talk in a way of what works for YOU without preaching and telling people what they should do.

Of course different methods work for different people, but MOST people who are chronically overweight WITHOUT INTERVENING health issues will greatly benefit from moving from a 1-2 meal day to a 4-5 meal day.

No one is saying anything absolute, which is why the word GENERALLY litters my OP.

Lastly, you eating 6 meals a day and not losing weight is hardly proof that eating 6 meals a day wouldnt work for you....correlation and causation....im not an AP stats teacher so im not going to elaborate, but this is pretty simple stuff.

I did lose weight eating 5/6 meals a day but I came obsessed with what I should eat, the quantity, the cost, timings, eating out, socialising, it almost put me into an eating disorder!

I'm not saying this doesn't work for everyone, for some people, clearly you are one of them, it works perfectly. But not for me. Squashing 1400 calories into 6 meals a day was painfully exhausting, boring, and the quality and quality of food was ridiculous. I'm much happier going to bed without an empty stomach thanks!

I've seen a few people post this and it's pretty stupid. Maybe he has already lost 150 pounds and needs to lose 50 more after joining MFP. Would you put in the weight that you started at years ago or would you use the weight you started MFP at? I know I lost quite a bit before I joined so my ticker doesn't represent what I have lost total, it represents what I have lost since joining. Some of you people just don't use that gray thing between your ears very well.

Yes, you are right, knowledgeable people never gain weight due to factors like stress, work, or simply bad choices....

This thread is pretty LOL considering most of the things I said are like well established science and embraced by virtually the entire weight loss medical community.

    AGAIN, FOR THE SLOWER PEOPLE....

I AM NOT SAYING YOU SHOULDNT EAT LESS THAN YOU EXPEND CALORICALLY...NOWHERE DID I SAY THIS.

    Thank you...lol.

Then please could you explain it to us dim witted souls how this comment "Why calorie in calorie out is moronic." ties with the above shouty comment.

What exactly are you trying to say? What is your point?
