A little off topic but I was surprised to learn that,of the 600,000 prepackeged foods avaialable in America,80% of them contain sugar in one form or another. When I read that I checked out the taco kit I got for my kids dinner.Soft shells, taco seassoning and taco sauce all contained sugar or corn syrup or both.No wonder America is so fat with all this sugar hidden in foods we wouldn't think of as sweets.Read your labels!
Yes, I know!!! This is so irritating to me.0 -

Definitely peanut butter!
This, and it makes me so sad, because peanut butter is delicious and healthy. But I can only allow myself a little each day or I'll ruin my calorie goals
If you get Natural peanut butter, it's so much better for you! It may be a little higher in calories/fat, but if you stick with just a tablespoon or so, it isn't bad at all- it actually has good fat in it!
Katie, great point! I think people get too worried about the calories in some foods. Avocados, nuts and peanuts may be calorically heavy but they provide essential oils and fats that we all need!
I didn't read through all 9 pages, so I'm sorry if someone already mentioned this. A great alternative to peanut butter is PB2, made by Bell Plantation. It's powdered peanut butter for only like 45 calories 2 tbsp and 1/3 of the fat. Just add water. I was skeptical when I heard about it but it's actually very good and works great in smoothies or protein shakes. You can just google Bell Plantation.0 -
Juice and all candy. How can a few of those little Hershey kisses equal the same amount of calories as in a medium sized apple?? It was really eye-opening to see the numbers!! :noway:1

If you look on pinterest there is a recipe for a cauliflower pizza crust......A LOT more healthy then a dough or tortilla crust.0

Ramen noodles, eat the whole block, 390 calories.0

Olive oil! I never thought it was good for you, don't get me wrong, but I added a drizzel of it to my otherwise plain salad and MFP said it was 119cal for one tablespoo!!. Makes me dread to think of foods that are olive oil based and that I love, like tzatziki0
-
Sorry meant to post a response to the tzatziki comment. I come from a Greek family and we've never made it with it olive oil. I make mine with fat free plain Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice and a little garlic. It turns out really good!2

Tzatziki is yogourt based, not olive oil.2 -
Milk! It's not a lot of calories but I always used milk as a filler for something. I will stick to my almond milk which has half the calories than skim!0

Pei Wei Spicy Chicken. I knew it was bad for me but 1400 calories for a meal?! NOT including the rice! Holy cow, no wonder I'm fat, I was eating that at least once a week for a good 5 months.
Agreed. And all the Thai food I thought was "healthy." Calories and sodium add up fast, and most of the time my stomach hurts after I eat this stuff. Not worth it!0 -
ummm, yeah!!!!! So, we went to Jersey Mike's, thought I would treat myself to something other than a salad, so I went with a grilled veggie wrap (wheat wrap, no salad dressing)...it was over 700 calories!!! WTF!!!??? I usually look at menus before I go places, so I know what I should or should not order...next time I will be sure to stick to my rule!0

Sushi. and not fried either! I was just curious the other day about how many calories were in one Crunchy Shrimp roll, come to find out it was almost 1/2 of my daily intake of cal's I freaked out! How can 1 small roll of Sushi have 500+ Calories??! So upsetting I could eat sushi everyday..
I don't think that's correct. It probably means the roll before its cut, therefore actually 6-9 pieces.0 -
Groats ,,, which is steal cut oats.. yeeks,,, back to regular oats for me0

Have any of you tried the Flatout brand wraps? They have a few flavors that are 90 calories for the whole wrap and they are good sized. I love them and use them all the time. They make great individual thin crust pizzas too!1

Watermelon! I thought it was mainly just water and a little bit of sugar, so I thought I could tuck in. Wrong. 1400 calories each. I ate most of a whole one. I used up my calorie allowance and couldn't eat for the rest of the day.1
-
Fried Chicken!! I mean it should be no shock that's it isn't good, but over 500 calories for one breast!!! Oh the horror.0
-
