Do you treat yourself after weightloss?

No way...it actually inspires me to work harder seeing progress! I mean, I don't treat myself with food. Maybe new clothes every once in a while...0

I got a glow in the dark Star Wars shirt for my 20lbs loss mark, a Nirvana tshirt for my 40lb loss mark, my next will be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt at 60lbs lost!
lol these are great rewards!0 -
I treat myself when I feel like treating myself. I worked my butt off the other night at the gym....so I bought a donut.
When I went from "overly obese" to just obese, it was pizza night.
Basically, as long as the majority of the time you keep things on track, you'll be just fine. If you want to treat yourself, then go for it.
Some people will say, "You're not a dog, so don't treat yourself with food" but I say..why not?
If you look at food in terms of good or bad, then you're doing it wrong in my opinion.
This is something you will be doing for a lifetime, food as a reward, or rewards after achievements themselves..food or not...is a part of life. Enjoy life, live it...control it, don't let it control you!
This! Especially if it fits in my macros!0 -
I treat myself after big accomplishments .. with food. I agree with the posters who said that if you keep staying away from something you have a huge craving for you will eventually break and want to have it anyway, so might as well have it in moderation as a reward. When I lost 25 pounds I celebrated by having a food reward.
As long as you are still moving in a positive way towards your goal, I am all for it!0 -
I haven't eliminated any foods from my diet, so food isn't a treat. If I want pizza, I plan for it and have it. I also have one cheat day a week if I want it. Some weeks, like last week, I don't use it. Some weeks I do. In general, I'm just pleased with the accomplishment and move on to the next goal. I do brag a little, just to get some kudos. That helps!0

This is how I'm doing it. Only instead of one 'cheat day' I have one meal where I go out to eat with my fiancee and we eat whatever we want. Normally it fits into my cal goals anyway so it all works out, and I don't feel like I'm depriving myself. I've also made my own pizzas at home (store bought crust, sauce and cheese) as a normal dinner and it's fit in just fine.
I do have plans to get a little something with each 30 lb loss and at my final goal. First up is a heart rate monitor!0 -
I hit the 10 lb weight loss mark. And am rewarding myself with a new exercise bike. Does that count?0

I agree with most everyone on here. You can have a food treat, if it falls within in your calories for the day. However, it makes more sense to reward yourself for all of your hard work with a non food item. I like all the people who treated themselves to fitness attire and gadgets. I just treated myself to a new MP3 player that I can wear on my arm while exercising.
In my opinion, by looking at food as a reward, you're really falling into your old mindset and setting yourself up for failure. This is a lifestyle change, and we need to stick with the idea that no food item is taboo, as long as you track it and it fits within your calorie range.0 -
I don't treat myself to food, but after my initial 80 pound weightloss I treated myself to a new haircut/style and clothes. After I lost this next 75 to 80 pds I am treating myself to a trip somewhere. Not sure where yet.0

I've promised myself a reward when I drop from the 'obese' category into the 'overweight' category (which is only a pound away now - yay!), but it won't be food-related. I love doing nail art (having wet fingernails is great for keeping your hands out of the biscuit tin too - bonus!) and so I'll be treating myself to a new Konad plate (a little metal disc with patterns on it for nail art stamping). I intend to do this with each milestone I hit, apart from goal, when I'll be rewarding myself with being able to fit into tons of my old clothes again and buying new.
I don't see a problem with food rewards if they keep you from cracking completely though, but as another poster has said, I haven't felt deprived enough (or even at all) yet to consider a food reward worthwhile, so you may be being too hard on yourself now in order to earn them.0 -
i really dont treat myself, but i do have a day a week i use as a cheat day if i so desire.0

Non-food treats so I continue to change my attitude toward food. Massage, pedicure, hot new jeans, new JM video...stuff like that. Keep the motivation, but don't let it be food!0
-
I'm realizing that I treat myself way too much with food, so I need to find different ways to treat myself than with food, especially since my 'treats' tend to be things like hot wings and ice cream.
But they are so good. Good job on your weight loss though.0 -
i lost more than expexted this week and wondered to you guys treat yourself in this position or carry on with the diet?
My rewards to myself usually have to do with shoes or body mods. I got pierced when I hit 15 lbs lost. I have a tatt planned for 20lbs lost. When I first started, the hubby made a deal with me that for every 5lbs gone, I got a new pair of shoes.
I don't really reward myself with food.0 -
I do. With a massage, new workout clothes or tickets to an event I want to see.0

If you want to treat yourself with food, maybe you could do it by going to a restaurant, but getting a low cal meal, or treating yourself by getting something healthy, but something you wouldn't normally get. For instance, I love sushi, but usually don't eat it, because it's kind of expensive. Maybe some crablegs, easy on the butter. I love sea food, but like I said...expensive! Or you could do a new outfit, instead.0

Lots of different views i like it, i dont agree with the people saying treating yourself is like a dog at all and i see no problem with treating yourself with food, I love pizza and havent had one since the diet but if i cut it out completely ill break, having a pizza but staying under my calorie goal is a treat and will keep the cravings away for a while.
I had pizza last night. And I stayed within my calorie goal. It's entirely doable.0 -

So make pizza at home!!! Control your ingredients and it doesn't have to be "bad" to have pizza!!!0 -
Heck yeah I do for every 10lbs I lost I get to buy something.0

I small edible treat is good every so often... but I'm hoping to treat my first 25 lbs with a massage.... new clothes... things that aren't food.
That being said.... if I've been thinking about one particular thing all week that is unhealthy, I save it til Saturday, when I don't try SO hard to stay to my calories, and then I don't gorge on the thing, just have enough to satisfy myself that I had it (it usually works into my calorie goal though).... except this Saturday. My birthday... too many free desserts and such were offered!! LOL0 -
I don't. But I am not motivated by rewards. Some people are and do.
For me, the feeling and how I look is my reward.0 -
Beer. I cut out beer because it's so high in calories. Now I pick out a craft brew that I have been wanting to try and just stick to one and still stay within my goals.0
-
If pizza is what you want your reward to be then I wouldn't recommend going all out and getting a large meat lovers. Lean cuisine makes a 3 meat pizza that is pretty good. I also love pizza and it@ 380 calories satisfies my craving. If you don't want to try a microwave pizza but would prefer pizza hut or papa johns ect.. both have healthier options then their greasy meats.0
-
you should treat yourself every day. life is for living.0
-
I don't treat myself with food, but every 10 lbs I give myself something I want. For instance, when I hit 10 lbs I got a pedicure. At 50lbs, I'm buying myself a gps HRM. When I hit my goal weight, it's allowing myself to get that new car that I want, but don't necessarily need....0
-
No food rewards. I think that's a bad precedent to set. If you want something, eat it, but don't gorge yourself.
*A* Slice of Pizza
*A* Cookie
Denying yourself things you want will just set you up for failure. You should be able to have anything you want in moderation, and as long as it's within your limits you set for yourself.
That being said, I do a non-food reward system. Every milestone I buy a Bluray, a video game, a new gadget, etc.0 -
A treat, but not often food. I treat myself to a book or something instead.0

Never reward yourself with food. Bad to do with kids as well.0 -
Usually I reward weight loss with new clothes and a ceremonial purging of the clothes that are suddenly too big. That way I have to maintain my size or else I'm going to have to go spend more money to buy bigger clothes.0
-
I usually treat myself to a new piece of workout gear. Sometimes I allow myself a beer. lol0
