If you're a generic, cardboard cut-out male then yes... yes it is true.

No, it's universal. Just because your man leads you to believe certain things and whispers you sweet nothings, doesnt make it true.

I don't have a man. I have male friends. Who are very honest with me. :)

I just refuse to believe stupid generic nonsense that is supposed to encompass all males across every culture no matter what.

    Dare I say it?

    YES I DARE.

Gender norms are societally created, not "universal truths."

    Sorry, buddy.

I already knew all this growing up with 3 brothers, but not living with any men for 5 years prior to meeting my husband, I do sometimes need to be reminded of these rules. Thank you for posting. Much appreciated.

I'm glad my boyfriend doesn't subscribe to stupid internet lists nor expects me to either. :)

    Gender is a social construct.

I'm a little surprised at the overwhelming positive reactions here. Did everybody like those Superbowl ads from the 1950s too?

I grew up with 4 brothers, I've been married (to the same guy) for 17+ years, I have 3 sons and quite a few male friends.

It sounds pretty accurate to me. ;-)

I thought it was a genetic code construct.

How can I give this to my wife without giving it to my wife?

I guarantee if you give this to your wife you won't be giving it to your wife anytime soon.

The majority of things here honestly don't apply to my fiancé. I showed it to him, thinking he'd get a laugh, knowing he's not such a picky guy, and he was quite offended that these were put out as "rules" for all guys.

I think he's scared which side his bread will be buttered on tomorrow...

Haha its true. Though honestly none of my friends are stereotypical women's studies majors that apparently overrun SF. I'm probably the most like that of us all.

Rule 1: wife is always right.
Rule 2: if wife is wrong refer to rule 1
TONIGHT; YES, I KNOW, I HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH
But Did You Know Men Really Don't Mind That? It's like CAMPING.

I hate the couch, it's nothing like camping. Camping means steaks on the grill, marsh mellows, beers, ghost stories, stars, family....
