Yes , but i never look at it in a bad way. This year I am getting a good work out and helping a good friend by watching their 3 kids so he and his wife can have a nice night out together.

Married for 17 years and we don't celebrate valentines day.
    valentines day is for retailers.
I love all those who said it is a 'love yourself' day. There should be more of those, in my humble opinion.
Being single doesn't mean one is second rate.
Have a lovely day whatever you do.
    kind regards,

    Ben

I've only not been single, I think, twice. And both times, the guy bombed it. So much for romance, lol!
  • Yep, I'll be single for V-Day too, but I loved reading all your messages and now I have the inspiration to have a Me Day as well :-)

Single. :) I'll be spending my evening cuddled up in bed with season two of The Walking Dead.
  • Single and very happy to remain that way! I call it solo. Flying solo. Wheeeee!!!!!!!!

But now that you mention it, I may have to get a package of very dark chocolates to enjoy all by myself.

Exactly this!! Valentine's day is overrated and an excuse for consumers to spend money!!

Not having it! Do what and whom I want!!

Love the freedom of being single and happy!! Flying solo and loving it!!

Valentines day is a very hard day for single people though, we have to admit it haha

very hard on married ppl too. we have lots of "pressure". to buy the right thing, or when receiving say the right thing. but it's cute and it fills the kids calendar between new years and st paddy's day so whatever.

Single once again this year. Which means.....I've been single my whole life on V-day. And to tell the truth, I really don't care. My family usually gets me a little something (such as chocolate). Otherwise I just don't like this so called "holiday" . But I do like some of your ideas of having it as a "Me" day. I'll have to do something for myself that day

Worse, I have a class on Valentines Day evening.

Does not matter because I have never celebrated the V-day

YEP and that's okay by me and I'm not angry. I've seen too many friends stay in a bad situation and I'm glad I don't have to deal with that. I can buy my own chocolate & flowers this year. :flowerforyou:
  • why do you need one day of the year to tell someone you love them, you don't have to spend fortunes to say 'i love you' you should do it EVERY DAY, it's just a money making scam anyway, someone's getting rich on the back of it (cynical? me? of course i am, lol)

I am also going solo this year for V-day, again, lol but I just use the day to celebrate my family and friends! The day is about love, not necessarily romantic love, so my family and friends are reminded of how much they mean to me! Mind you, I would love to have a date and celebrate like all the other couples, but I will, someday ..
  • Just posted this in one of the single's groups I'm a member of, but thought the rest of you might enjoy this. SMBC is one of my favorite web comics, and this little gem helps me appreciate being single on Valentine's :drinker:

I've been single most V-days so it doesn't really bother me. I have my 6 year-old daughters who still want mommy to be their valentines so that helps :)

Yep, 5 years alone on Valentines! But some of us girlies are getting together for a night out which will no doubt be far more fun than a cheesy card and a bunch of roses!
    And CoulsdonEagle got it right!

I am but im actually happy about it. Have to remember its just a holiday but the point of is to spend time and share love with your love ones. That could be your friends, family or children.
