I didn't use a gym at all. I have an elliptical in the basement, but i mostly walk...either on a hiking trail by my house, or at the mall before the stores open in the winter.
Omg you look fantastic!! Great inspiration considering I mostly do walking; I totally enjoy it0 -
I have not stepped foot in a gym in over a year. This is my start photo last year in June, and then my most recent photo that I have. I do Insanity, P90X, and have dabbled a little in Insanity Asylum. I absolutely love the programs. Good luck!

I love this thread! I went to my gym for months without seeing much of a result. I feel very restricted there. All the guys hog the free weights and the machines isolate one muscle set so you don't get a well rounded workout. I switched to working out at home (which I had never done before) and I LOVE it! I find free workout videos on youtube or use JM 30 day shred workout. Best decision of my life. Sorry no progress photos yet but I think you would be happy with your results. Running/walking/aerobics/yoga/palates all give you a great full body workout that is hard to achieve at the gym unless you do their classes or free weights. And i watch what I eat of course0

I have had several different gym memberships in the past 5 years and all I have to say is I was not consistent and I lost a LOT of money. I'm about 60 pounds overweight right now and on my way down. The biggest 2 reasons for my not going to the gym was insecurity and lack of time. I work almost 60 hours a week and getting to the gym was close to impossible, let alone the fact that once I got there, I was very insecure about how I looked on the machines.
So, I decided to invest in some home gym equipment, an elliptical (Schwinn 420) and some home weights and a wii (with Zumba and Wii-Fitness-Plus. So far, using that and Isagenix, I've lost 18 pounds. I wasn't very active in January because of a hip problem I had that has now resolved itself, but since then, I've been in our "home-gym" almost every other day... it feels great!

Here's what I got so far from the beginning of the year to the first week of February
143 - 137.6.
I have a spin bike at home and a treadmill (but like you said you run outside)
And I try to lift twice a week.
AT HOME GYMS FTW!
Good luck, lovely0 -
I didn't go to the gym until the 2nd or 3rd week in January. I now realize that heavy lifting is crucial to getting the body I want but I'm sure there are plenty of people who got where they wanted to go without going to a gym All of my weightloss was due to a caloric deficit. Zero cardiovascular exercise.0

Did it all by myself! Never stepped foot in a gym. I walked HEAPS when I first started but now I am focusing on dumbell workouts and walking/jogging.0 -
<<<<<My profile pic says it all, I stopped going to the gym over a year ago and the weight loss you see in the pic, is from June of last year! I workout at home and when the weather is decent I like to take it outdoors (stadium fridays), walks/jogs, the fresh air is the bomb diggity. Right now I order a new workout DVD about every 6 months to add to the rotation so I don't get bored. Currently I'm doing 30DS, next will be Body Combat! Love it, I may rejoin a gym when I'm ready to do some heavy lifting!:) But for now, at home is working for me!:ohwell: :happy:0

I've lost 51 lbs since I started in Oct 2011. Below pic is a before of Aug 2011 (190's) and after of Aug 2012 (150's). I'm currently 143 and 5 lbs from goal. I haven't set foot in a gym or used any equipment other than running shoes and small hand weights. I have done the couch to 5k program (google it) and have become a runner (running at least 3 days a week), and I do some strength training a couple days a week. When I get to goal, I am going to start doing more intense heavy lifting.

These are before and during, as I certainly still have weight to lose, but the first is from May 2012 to November 2012. I've lost another 15 pounds and one clothing size since this pic:
And here is a closeup of my facial changes from May 2011 to last week-ish:
I started Couch to 5K in July and now run about 9-12 miles per week. Added kettlebells into my routine in January and they've really helped me shed more fat and start finally seeing definition. Hope to show before and AFTERs in a few months!0 -
.I lost 67 pounds in less than 6 months, no gym membership .
how?0 -
7 months into it and all I did was watch portions while knowing what I am eating along with some walking 2-3 times a week for 40+ minutes.0

I see a faint V-Shape coming along!! Keep it up0 -

Wow your features all pop after the weight loss!! Great jaw line !0 -
No photos yet, but I'm down 10 pounds in just a little over a month through eating less/better and working out on my stationary bike or doing 30 Day Shred a few times a week.0

WOW! That is awesome. I'm starting out with the gym because I need to tone up really bad!0

Not at my goal weight or size yet but I haven't been to the gym once since I began working out. It's all at home with some AMAZING workout DVDs0 -
I have lost 117 pounds since March 2012, and have not been to a gym once. I do a lot of walking and hiking, ride an stationary bike a little, and have started riding a real bike recently.

No gym for me. I have been successfully losing body fat by getting outside hiking, walking, biking, skiing, snow shoeing and jogging. I have a treadmill but rarely use it because I find it too boring compared to my other activities.
I have a medicine ball, resistance bands and a few light free weights. I plan to incorporate them soon to work on building lean muscle. I think you can get fit and lose weight without a gym. Just be creative and use what you already have available to you. There are also tons of cardio and strength training videos you can stream and do at home. Check out you tube there's a ton on there and they're free.
Good luck!0
