Which films have made you cry, provoked the most thought or made the most difference to you?

For me I'd say...

Hotel Rwanda
Synedoche, New York
The Green Mile
Requiem for a Dream
Up
The Iron Giant

Requiem for a Dream is easily the most screwed up film I have ever watched. I love movies with no happy ending, but that one just took the cake. Four diverging stories, all of which end up in the ****ter before it's over.

I cry at about anything. I cried so hard at Beaches I had to leave the theatre. The most embarrassing round of tears at a movie was at Jurassic Park.

I really enjoyed it, disturbing yet beautifully portrayed. Could you recommend some films for me that are similar?
  • I cry very easily - like I literally bawl if its well done. out of the top of my mind - the severe ones are :

    - Blue Valentine
    - Requiem for a Dream
    - Forrest Gump
    - Bright Star (good lord was I in tears or what)
    - Cloud Atlas (to be specific the gay romance part)

Wonder what the calorie burn is for crying while watching a movie... all the furtive tear wiping and rapid eye blinking has to contribute somethign, doesn't it?

Just in case it's significant I'll watch....My Girl, Far and Away and Sommersby over this weekend.

Oh my god, same here. I picked it over another documentary that night because it seemed less depressing. Ha! (SO want to add my thought process about why it wouldn't be too bad but don't want to add a spoiler.)
