All alcohol...but I typically only drink red wine anyways. First Friday night without a glass in hand :ohwell: this glass of water just isn't quite the same!0
-
Sweets. I gave up FREAKIN' SWEETS! My stomach hurts so bad from releasing all the toxins
BUT it's worth it!!! :bigsmile:0 -
I gave up "making excuses for not going to the gym." Which is good, because I really love making up excuse to not go to the gym!0

Fast food. But I had Subway for lunch...does that count as fast food? Crap.0

I decided to abstain from eating animal-based foods (basically going with a whole foods, plant based diet) and to stay away from anyone or anything that is negative and soul crushing. On the plus side I decided to devote at least 10 min every day engaging in a positive activity, whether it is kind words to myself or others, a healthy enjoyable activity or just doing something nice in general. Lent doesn't always have to about giving up something but maybe finding something that is better than what you were doing before.
Who knew I was actually listening during all those years of Catholic school and Mass? LOL My mom would be proud!0 -
I gave up chocolate and alcohol...and obviously my mind!
This seriously made me laugh. And it put me in the mood for a bottle of chocolate wine. :drinker:0 -
I gave up excuses as to why I don't have the time or energy to work out! I really need to make a change, so I am hoping I can stick to this one!0

I don't officially celebrate Lent, but this month I'm giving up excuses. There is NO reason why I can't lose significant weight this year, and the only one holding me back has been me.0

Processed sugar!
I've found it is much easier to stick to it because I've given it up for Lent. I can come up with excuses to myself for having a little bit, but I KNOW I can't lie to God!
Even my 10 y.o. granddaughter tried this morning to give me some of her Valentines candy and one of her Vanilla Scones. When I said no she was shocked! She said "I really wanted to get you to break, I guess you are serious!"
I am serious!
The hardrst part is walking past the snack machine at work right outside the restrooms. That Red Licorice jumps off the shelf, throws itself up against the glass and screams at me "RESCUE ME! Please, get me out of here!"
I've gone three days so far.
I've told all my lunch buddies at work and even put it on Facebook! The biggest deterrent is my promise to God.0 -
I gave up diet soda (and regular) as well as McDonalds :sad:0

I didn't give anything up this year.
Instead I am going to volunteer every saturday morning.
Actually, you are sacrificing something. Your time. However, you are sacrificing it for the good of others and that is a great thing to do!
I am Southern Baptist so I don't observe Lent.0 -

I gave up using the elevator in my dorm and in any of my school buildings
Me Too!! I work on the 3rd floor of a building and live on the 5th floor of my apt building, absolutely no reason to use the elevator except when carrying groceries or laundry. But I should give up that exception because I used to do it all the time in my old apartment, I had to, there wasn't an elevator.0 -
