The big weight losses you usually see at first is water weight.
How about eating at a reasonable caloric deficit, exercising (preferably with some strength training) and being patient?0 -
I lost 15lbs overnight once....I miss my left arm though *sigh*0

You're in a public forum - negativity comes with the territory. Best of luck! :flowerforyou:
I understand its a public forum but I don't understand why people who don't agree with a topic waste there time posting negativity. I guess they have nothing better to do. Thank you to the people who are sending me positive messages. Myfitnesspal is a place for motivation and support. Leave that negative **** for facebook or on someone else forum!
Not agreeing with you is not synonymous with being negative. YOU'RE the one taking it that way, as tone and inflection cannot be put into a message written on a forum post. Some people who do not agree are more than likely looking out for your best interest and that of others who may post/read your thread and think its a great and healthy idea to lose a huge amount of weight rather quickly. When in reality, its not.
The Biggest Loser is a scripted reality tv show, where 1 week, really equals around 14-17 days and they are on extremely low calorie diets and dehydrated. Do you want to be starving and thirsty all the time? 1-2 lbs weight loss a week is what is recommended by basically any sane and knowledgeable doctor around. If you want a chance of losing your weight and keeping it off, maintain a calorie deficit, exercise, and drink water.0 -
I think by negative she means the people who are commenting on her spelling and telling her to cut off limbs. Some people are talking to her like she's stupid instead of just giving her information. Not everyone knows everything about weighloss and mocking her question will not help her learn.0

See this is what I'm talking about right here. Sure she's right. Sure it's really the only healthy way to lose weight and keep it off.
But that's not what MFP is about. MFP is about support. Support of any bat**** crazy plan that creeps into your brain or is being sold by Dr. Oz that week.
Eat at a calorie deficit and exercise... I'M SICK OF ALL YOU RUDE HATERZZ!!0 -
You can lose about 8 pounds doing an apple cleanse (only apples, as many as you want, for 3 days) but a lot of it will come back. But it's supposed to rid you of toxins.
You can lose about a pound a day doing a juice cleanse (home-made veggie and fruit juice, and nothing else) but some will come back.
To lose 10 pounds in one week i think you'd have to cut off part of a limb.0 -
10LBS A WEEK?!!!
I LOSE 20LBS A WEEK.
BEAT THAT BITACH!!!!0 -
I think by negative she means the people who are commenting on her spelling and telling her to cut off limbs. Some people are talking to her like she's stupid instead of just giving her information. Not everyone knows everything about weighloss and mocking her question will not help her learn.0

This is going to sound very, very mean - but it's a joke my dad used to tell me and my sisters.
Q. "Wanna know a way to lose 10lbs of ugly fat fast?"
A. Cut off your head.
LMAO! Sorry - again, couldn't help myself.
According to the kid in Jerry McGuire (which is where I get all of my knowledge) the human head only weighs 8 pounds. Maybe my hair weighs two pounds!0 -

What if he was left handed before? That's tough to re-learn0 -
Water weight... way back when I was 300+ lbs and just got started. If you have less than 50 lbs to lose, you should not even be attempting this!0
-
Yes it is possible, but not at all healthy. 10 times out of 10 losing that much weight is just water loss, maybe a pound or two. I am sure you can imagine how unhealthy it is to dehydrate yourself. I honestly did it a few times before, before a big event. The day of I felt tired, grouchy, dizzy and was a mess. My skin looked horrible too. It's never worth it.0

I think it is important to note that those kinds of responses didn't start until OP decided she didn't like what she was hearing and came back with "Well, what about 5 lbs in a week?"
Again, disagreeing and offering sage advice =/= negativity.0 -
No, not possible at all. Even when morbidly obese when it just "falls off" in the beginning, 10 lbs of week is impossible. That's more like 5 lbs a week.
Not impossible......Don't you watch the Biggest Loser.0 -

Spelling is very impotant IMO I loose it when people right wrong!0 -

Now we're talking. Some helpful advice. Eat just apples, watch your protein take a nose dive, and quickly lose weight (and a lot of muscle) in a temporary way.
Or just drink juice and lose weight quickly only to watch it come back. Again the muscle you lose will be replaced with fat. But hey for a few days the number on the scale will be lower! And that's what we're all after.
Hopefully we can get a few more of these suggestions and less of this "eat right, exercise" nonsense. Ain't nobody got time for that!0 -
I know it is possible to loose 10lbs in week even if it is not every week. This topic is for people who has lost 10lb in week and advice or insight on the way they have. Thanks to those who have post positive comments and advice. I am not upset with comments people have posted that are suggestions. But to the people who posted comments trying to make me out to be an idiot your really the ones who or the idiots, please just leave my topic or just don't comment. Everyone else thanks.
For those that have lost 10lbs in a week, most of it was water weight.
Odds are they gained quite a bit back the next week.
But good luck to you on your journey!!!0 -
even when i was in the hospital recovering from surgery.. with my body regressing, i was losing 10 a week. but that's 30% 30% and 30% fat, water and muscle. you don't want to lose water or muscle. ... so do the math.. i was losing 3lb fat a week.... and believe me... all i was eating was 500ml of milk and a slice of pizza..per day... sometime not even the pizza.....and not moving....you DON'T want to be in that position...
THERE IS NO EASY FIX.. (not yelling, emphasizing) I would trade every dollar i have for and safe and effective easy fix!
good luck...

I thought it through, it was the eve of weigh in day and I wanted to impress my MFP's with an amazing loss, it wasn't doing much just stuck on the side of me like a bad right hand, I miss it but for variety you can always just sit on your hand until it goes numb....wait what?0 -

Biggest loser weeks aren't 7 days a week.
Sometimes weeks are 3 days or 13 days...I read an article about it. They also sit in sauna's in sweat suits for hours to drop fluid weight. You can't rely on biggest loser for realistic weight loss. Read all the articles about how fast they regain.
I think you could lose a good deal of fluid weight in your first week I weigh 250 and as a lifetime dieter there is NO INITIAL LOSS week for me. My body is used to it.0 -
Sorry for all the rude responses. You should absolutely stick to your goal of losing 30lbs in 3 weeks. No one here can say that's unhealthy or dangerously stupid. They aren't doctors. Everyone is different. And real life is pretty much the same thing as a reality show where people are paid to lose weight.
Some of you people need to follow the guidelines as set forth by MFP. WHATEVER anyone says is good for them. Accurate information that would lead to sustainable weightloss and good health is all poppycock. What matters is being supportive of everyone.
Good luck to you!0
