worst way to breakup with someone

I prefer not to break up.
I just let the relationship die a slow natural death.0 -
Imagine it.
Christmas Eve, all dressed up and waiting to be picked up by boyfriend who you adore.
The phone rings. You rush to answer it knowing it's your wonderful boyfriend.
He says 'I'm still in love with my ex, I don't care if she's engaged to someone else, I still love her.'
Didn't just ruin my Christmas but ruined my parent's Christmas too! (Mainly because I was sobbing uncontrollably all Christmas day!)
Needless to say by end of January we were back together, the sex was just too good!0 -
The post-it note from that Sex in the City episode was pretty rude.
You beat me to it!0 -
I found out about my last one when he changed his facebook status...I laughed <I was so over the whole thing by that point anyway>0

My former cousin in law brought his new girlfriend with him to church, where he informed his wife, in front of a dozen other people, that he didn't want to be married anymore, and this is his new girlfriend.
What a douche.0 -
At my birthday barbq when the guy I was dating for seven years said he needed to talk to me for a minute...told me he was getting back together with his ex-wife.... *sigh*0
-
Better than doing it at your wedding...
No kidding. I don't know anyone who has actually been left standing at the altar, but I had a friend who called off his wedding 4 hours before it was scheduled to begin. I knew he was making a mistake to get married because the girl basically pushed and pushed and pushed until he gave in. It definitely wasn't what he wanted from the very beginning, but in the end, he DID agree to it. And on that particular day, all of my sympathy was for her. You just can't let it get to the point where invitations have been sent, people have bought gifts, booked plane tickets and hotel rooms, etc., before you say "Maybe this isn't the best idea we've ever had."0 -
That's why you date them, you need to weed out the wimps.0

When I was much younger, I got involved with a latina girl. I am Indian. We dated for a bit and I dunno how but I ended up proposing to her and we got engaged (no ring or anything involved). WORST engagement ever.
Then, I realized that she's crazy and I just wanted sex. So I told her that my parents back home forcefully arranged married me and now I have a wife. She said something about her willing to be my second wife. My American wife. Again, the sex was really good...
So eventually when she crossed the hot/crazy graph into danger zone, I moved away, change number and everything. Never really broke up.
I would say that was one of my bad ones...
You do realize your second wife is still waiting for you to come home...
trying to find his pet bunny to boil..more like..

i don't know... i had a guy pull out an engagement ring at dinner and ask what i thought...
so that he could give it to the love of his life the next day.
he was actually surprised that i threw my drink in his face (yes, we had the "exclusive relationship" conversation 2 weeks prior)... :drinker:
OMG!!! Did he only JUST find this love of his life earlier that day?!? Wow...0 -
No, the worst way you can break up with someone is thru text, most impersonal, cowardly thing that a person can do.
I broke up with a guy over email. =X But the relationship wasn't healthy, he became possessive and stalkerish and I was beginning to be scared of him. (It was to the point that if I wanted to talk to my best friend alone, we had to go to the bathroom. Even then, he'd follow us over there and wait outside...) Plus, I was sick and stuck at home, and being that both of us were not driving at the time, the only way to see each other would have been if his mom drove him to my house. I wasn't going to let that happen... I am proud to say I was a coward in this instance. =P0 -
What about when they just don't give you an explanation at all? It's like WTH?? That's sooooo irritating! If I'm not into a guy, I at least just say I'm not feeling it and move on.
Ya know what needing an explanation never works. Nothing said will ever make a bad break up better.
I was on the receiving end of being dumped more than the other way around. Most of the time, I got a blow-off followed by a non returned call. And that was it. No bye, no I hate you...they just disappeared. Most of the time, i was pretty fine with it.
But I remember this one guy who I broke up with and it was epic bad. The short of it was, we met at an online dating site and I liked him a lot over the phone and online. When we met it person...just wasn't there. Were my reasons superficial...yes.
However we had only gone out twice, and I decided to tell him in person that I was not romantically interested in him but would like to be friends. He then wanted a detailed explanation as to why I didn't want to go out with him. And then berated me for about an hour.
When I finally had enough; I told him the following -
"the truth is I am not attracted to you, however there really is no polite way to say that to your face. I figured that since I did respect you as an individual I owed you the respect I would want, and therefore decided to tell you that I didn't want to see you in a romantic setting. I figured that it would be too self-involved to think that you couldn't handle the truth (because who am I?) and that you would appreciate that I was direct and honest with you. Thank you for making this a mature conversation."
And then I left.
Unless the break is mutual...they are never good.0 -

Well, thats the loop hole I created as a justification to myself. I am never married and never will. So technically, my second fiance can't get married to me till I get married the first time.
I am going to hell or coming to life as an anal bead in my next life...
There fixed it for ya
bahahahahahahahah0 -
Phone or text while you're at work. Had both happen to me.
Mine was a text at work, yes I feel your anger lol
Yeah, it's really awkward because everyone asks why you look so sad
this :ohwell:0 -
If you're in an exclusive relationship, anything other than face-to-face is a horrible way to break up with someone. If you're in two different states/countries and can't actually be together when it happens, at least get on Skype and look him/her in the eye. Give them a chance to react. You never know; it's entirely possible they have been feeling the same way and understand completely, in which case, at least the two of you could end things on good terms and be friends at some point.
On the other hand, I find it much, much easier to get over a break-up when a guy does it via text or e-mail because that makes it obvious he's a limp**** and that you're not really missing out on much.
As for "breaking up" with someone after a couple of dates, that doesn't really count. I think it's always best to at least call them, but they are not as deserving of a face-to-face "It's over" conversation as someone you were in a real relationship with.0 -
my personal favorite...is he goes fishing for the weekend and never comes home. So me just sitting there with dinner on the table as normal and waiting for him to come home or call. He never called, or came home. Wouldn't answer phone calls, texts, nothing. I finally texted him after 2 weeks of silence and told him to get his crap out of my apartment my Saturday and to leave the key (this was a Wednesday night)...come home from work Thursday and all his stuff is gone and the key is on the table. No note, nothing...nada...
Lived together for almost a year...
and yeah, this has been in the past month...:noway:
holy CRAP!! That is harsh!0 -
Through text message, because I "annoyed him" with my question of why he had been avoiding me all winter break - My ex [who i was with for 3 years] did that to me this past Christmas while I was at my parents house. Along with saying he was taking our cat and moving out of our apartment.
Immature, karma will come around haha
Edited for a spelling error0 -
Getting a text from his other girlfriend is pretty harsh also. Especially when you have been dating the guy for almost 2 years, and she has only been with him for a month.0
-
I guess I should be thankful I've never had any of those happen to me. I can't even recall the worst way to have been break-up with, because nothing could possibly compare to these terrible stories. Now, relationships themselves, I've had some doozies...0

I dated this girl in college we had been exclusive for about 4 months when I found out she had gone out with and hooked up with some other guy when I was out of town one weekend. I never called her back or answered her calls and walked by when she tried to talk to me. She claimed I was the A-hole since I never "told" her why I quit talking to her. Kind of immature but I was 18 at the time, still I think she should have clued in.0

Texting or phone call.
I've broken up with someone over a phone call, because he lived an hour away.
I've been broken up with over text when he lived down the ****ing street.0 -
My husband, the father of my three sons, left me by postcard. I was pg with my 3rd son at the time. That was 21 years ago. Needless to say, my sons HATE their father.0

Dan akroyd and Steve Martin did it best on SNL as " two wild and crazy guys"....
" You say, I breaka with you, I breaka with you, I breaka with you....then you throw dog poopie on her shoes..."

A friend of mine was in a slightly long distance relationship (90-120 minute drive) and had his SO come out to meet him, then snuck out in the middle of the night, loaded up the trunk with all of his SO's belongings that were at the house, said goodbye the next morning normally and then texted midway through the return trip, 'it's over, your stuff's in the trunk'.
Simultaneously the cleanest and iciest break-up I've ever seen/heard of.0 -
Had a guy who I was in love with start getting very distant, started spending a lot of time at a strip club then he told me he needed time to get his life together....translation he wanted to date a stripper who treated him like *kitten* rather than someone who loved him. He got his heart ripped out and stompped on and came crawling back to me. And the "I need to get my life together" was delivered by text.
I'm seriously seriously seriously hoping you told him F off..0 -

take a girl out on a here-after road....
tell her "if your not here-after what I'm here-after, you'll be here-after I'm gone".... and dump her....0 -
*kitten* their brother and send them pictures.
don't judge me til you know me.0 -
My husband (ex now) decided to basically replace me with the female who had been our chief bridesmaid, then tell me it wasn't working...0

It might not be as bad as hitting someone with a car or moving out unexpectedly, but my ex and I got into a very emotional discussion, then he back pedaled and made me feel that things were okay and we were all mended up. The next day, I got an email saying that he just did that so he didn't have to face breaking up with me in person and that he really did mean all that he had said (which he had recanted the night before). I spent the night at his house that previous evening (no naked time thank goodness!) and then he dumped me via email while we were both at work.0
