Squats, Deadlifts and Bench Press (the big 3). I'd also throw in pull ups.

Add in some OHP and you've almost got yourself a training program...

It's almost like someone has thought of that before....

Huggies or pampers? Sorry my son is pottytraining and of course that's what I thought of when you mentioned pull ups!

Why 3? There are 4 basic compound lifts, you'd be losing out on one of the big ones right away. Most basic strength programs include 5-6 movements (Check out Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe or Stronglifts 5x5)

    Power Cleans
    Squats
    Deadlifts
    Bench Press
    Overhead Press
    Pull-ups

Yeah! A book to teach beginners how to do these four exercises, how many to do, and when to do them, in order to become stronger. And since they're just starting out....

Well if it could only be three lifts I would probably go with

    Squat

    Bent over BB rows

    Incline Dumbbell press

Deadlifts would be a superior lift as long as you were doing other lifts to hit other areas but the bent over row would engage many of the same muscles while adding in arms and lat contractions.

Similar for the chest press. Bench would be the best but if it was only one lift I would make it one that includes more delt while still hitting chest and tris.

    You guys are funny!!

Agree with everyone else (more than three, but only takes me about 30 mins) - squats, deadlifts, OHP, bench and rows. Will be switching to pushups and pullups when I can actually do one!

Give me your best 3 for building some crazy muscles and dropping fat.

    GO!:flowerforyou:

    Squat, Deadlifts, Bench Press....

and OH press. Sorry, there really needs to be four to hit everything.

If there are only 3, incline press may cover both the shoulder, and chest work, but I agree with your statement.
