Someone should write a book or something....

Yeah! A book to teach beginners how to do these four exercises, how many to do, and when to do them, in order to become stronger. And since they're just starting out....

Well if it could only be three lifts I would probably go with

    Squat

    Bent over BB rows

    Incline Dumbbell press

Deadlifts would be a superior lift as long as you were doing other lifts to hit other areas but the bent over row would engage many of the same muscles while adding in arms and lat contractions.

Similar for the chest press. Bench would be the best but if it was only one lift I would make it one that includes more delt while still hitting chest and tris.

    You guys are funny!!

Agree with everyone else (more than three, but only takes me about 30 mins) - squats, deadlifts, OHP, bench and rows. Will be switching to pushups and pullups when I can actually do one!

    Squat, Deadlifts, Bench Press....

and OH press. Sorry, there really needs to be four to hit everything.

If there are only 3, incline press may cover both the shoulder, and chest work, but I agree with your statement.

    i wanna say:

    (1) weight lifting

    (2) cardio

    and

    (3) circuit training.

Note: CorvusCorax doesn't follow directions well.

ETA: if i have to list only three moves that I would ever do, I'm gonna do whatever Taso tells me to.

    squats
    push ups
    rows

i also like planks and lunges. i can't pick 3 sorry! I feel like no matter what I pick for 3 i'd have to choose to leave out core or opposing muscle groups.

If we're going this direction, then I would like to change my answer to
    Strength, Conditioning, and Mobility!

Right? And even then you're like "pull ups, man. I gotta include pull ups!"

A great fat-loss workout has all of the four big movements - push, pull, squat, and hip hinge. Add some loaded carries, and you're in business.
