I have to jump in here and suggest the Cooking Light Slow Cooker recipe book. There is a 2012 edition that is excellent. Almost all of the recipes are within reason. Some are pretty fast (3 hours or so), others take all day. I have made many of these recipes and my family loves them. They have no idea that it's Cooking Light either. Check it out. It's the best slow cooker cookbook I have found.
Edited to say that everything is made with real ingredients. Very limited processed foods (cans of soup, packages of seasonings, etc)0 -
I regularly put a whole chicken, turkey breast on the bone, or pot roast with carrots, brussell sprouts and potatoes and let them go all day ... just fill 1/2 way with any preferred broth flavor (and you can easily make gravy out of the hot broth with a slurry mixture when it's time to eat!) I also do a Ham with potatoes & carrots the same way...my trick? use about 4 cups of water with a can of beer for a delicious gravy made with the juices after cooking! You now have my go-to sunday dinners! LOL
Can't forget about simple meatballs either...use your standard meatloaf recipe...form into balls...cover with preferred sauce (bbq, swet & sour, gravy etc) let them go on high all day...easy! (my favorite sauce is a play on a swedish style...mix 1 large can of cream of mushroom soup with 1 or 2 packets of lipton beefy onion soup mix - dry, no extra water - mix and coat meatballs....serve over egg noodles when done)

I tried this with turnips and carrots on the bottom, and a 4lb free-range chicken on top. I mixed lemon and garlic and rubbed the chicken and injected the juice into the chicken with a syringe. I cooked for 6 hours on low. The chicken was 180 degrees, so a little past done, but still juicy and delicious. The carrots and turnips were still a bit on the crunchy side.
We ate 3/4 of the chicken, then the last breast, the wings, scraps, and leftover veggies were pulled off the bones and turned into soup with the great broth that was in the pot (no added water when I cooked it!). Added some garbanzo beans and now I have enough to feed 4 again! It cost me ~$11 for 7 meals even with organic veggies and free range chicken. I will definitely do this again!0 -
Cranberry Chicken!
1 Cranberry Sauce
1 T salt&pepper
3 chicken breasts
1.5 apple wedges
1 cup chopped onion
1 T minced garlic
Crock pot on low for 4-6 hours.
SO GOOD and it's a little sweeter so it seems so naughty too!0 -
Venison Stroganoff!
1 lb venison scraps
1 medium size container sour cream
1 can of cream of mushroom
Lots (or no) sliced mushrooms
Lots (or no) sliced onions
1/4 cup water
1T minced garlic.
Put meat in first, season it with chili powerd, salt and pepper and whatever other spices you like.
Then mix all the rest together and pour over the top.
Cook High for 4 hour or Low for 6.
Serve over brown rice or if you're in need some carbs- egg noodles.
I actually like mine a lot over spinach alone!!0 -

one of my favorites is: 2 chicken breasts in the crock pot, add a cup of salsa, a can of black beans, a cup for frozen corn, taco seasoning and any other seasonings as well. once the chicken is cooked shred it and you can put it on top of brown rice, quinoa or put in tortilla shells. i have also thrown in a block of cream cheese with it and you could add green/red peppers and onion....0

Today I made some chicken soup in my crock pot. I used:
2 chicken breasts, chopped up
3 gold potatoes, diced
broccoli
mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans, corn)
1 quart chicken stock
salt, pepper, italian seasoning, sriracha
I just threw the chicken, potatoes, stock, and seasonings in this morning, and about a half an hour before I served dinner I threw in the vegetables.0 -

Beef roast (2-4 lbs)
1 LARGE can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 package Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix
Minced garlic
3 cups hot water
Salt and pepper to taste
I mix garlic, salt and pepper, my soups and water together ... be sure to get rid of the lumps in the soup. Add to the crockpot. Slightly brown your roast (if thawed) in a skillet with olive oil to seal in juices. If your roast isn't thawed, add directly to crockpot. Set crockpot on high and cook 6-8 hours, according to size of roast (I have cooked mine as long as 10 with no variation in taste). Makes the most tender roast ever and the gravy is awesome! Don't forget the French bread or something to use for the gravy (sorry, I am a Southerner and we have to have something to 'sop' up the gravy lol). Enjoy!0 -
I love to buy a bottle of salsa (16 ounces), a taco packet of seasoning, and a couple of breasts of chicken. I toss salsa and seasoning in pot, stir. No water is needed because the salsa is watery enough. You can add extra onions or whatever - but the salsa usually has enough. Add chicken breasts. Cover. Slow cook 8 hours or fast on 4 to 6. After cooking, stir - the chicken will fall apart very easily. We then eat tacos - I buy low-carb tortillas for me and big ones for my hubby. Kids eat whatever pack of tortillas. When my youngest is eating, I halve the taco pack above so that it is not as spicey. For those that like a little more kick, I add Chalula sauce. I also add shredded cheese and lettuce to the tops of the tacos. Tastes great!0

I make a 'vegetable layer pot' literally just layer vegetables that I have in the fridge on top of each other, cut very thin, add herbs/cheese/garlic and a little bit of stock, so easy, prepped in about 5 minutes and very healthy/low cal.0
