Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). Like both Star Wars and Star Trek. Love Doctor Who. The early seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel were good. Love the writing of HP Lovecraft. Play WoW. Have my Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis still hooked up as well as the Xbox. I read when I can, but often fall asleep on the couch.

But more importantly i'm a special effects adviser (and prop maker) so i know a lot about theater, puppets and film.
I am trying to lose weight, but you are so right about wanting to stay inside and read HP or watch a great film than go out there and move our booties!!
