Has the whole world been brainwashed?

I cannot literally believe some of the things I hear or read about nutrition and diet. Everything is so contradicting and I now have to question everything that I've ever believed.
Surely I am not the only one that feels this way?
Okay, so I don't have the cleanest diet yet, but I'm getting there. By clean, I mean relatively paleo
But WHY are doctors and nutritionists telling us this!
It's not rocket science is it. All this unnatural, processed food (wheat and dairy included), how can this possibly be good for us when we aren't actually designed to eat it. You'd consider feeding a lion fruit pastels outrageous right?
Yet few people seemed to have considered the effect of what they eat.
It makes me feel disgusted, I want to question everything!!!

Oooops you spoke too soon. It appears you've been brainwashed :noway:0 -
Without sparking a flamewar with my true answer, I'll just say: Yes.0

I don't know what fruit pastels are, but I know that you can drive yourself crazy worrying about all this. It seems to me that if you just eat everything in moderation, you'll probably be okay. I mean, it wasn't too long ago that "scientists" were saying that eggs were going to kill us all. You can ask 10 different "experts" what's "healthy" and you'll get 10 different answer. We are all gonna die of something...I'd rather die of food than die of stress about food.0 -

As cynical and sarcastic as some people may be, there is merit to this topic. There is alot of bad info out there, and it warrents a good discussion.0

It's a conspiracy. No, really, it is. Well, kind of. Bad food is cheap to make. A lot of the crap you see is really all about marketing and making money. Or selling books. Or special diet "food". Jillian Anderson would just be another pretty face if she hadn't convinced people she had some magic answer. Dr Oz certainly wouldn't be on television. People want simple, easy answers and their are plenty of con artists willing to give them exactly what they want.0

Ditto again.
Wheat, corn, soy, canola... all highly subsidized crops. Is it a coincidence that they are the "healthy" foods, promoted by Nabisco, General Mills, Nestle, etc etc etc ??? Oh, and don't forget the chemical corps such as Monsanto. Oh, and the pharmceutical industry too. Isn't it possible that these corporations are able to influence research (they FUND research directly) and government food recommendations? (For the people who still live in a world where you can't believe that corruption exists, well then I guess I envy your oblivion... sort of.)
OP: The best of us have been fooled. But while you are looking into the brain-washing, take another look at soy. It's one of the biggest examples.0 -
Whatever ......0 -
In for the fruit pastels. Because they sound yummy and colorful.
How do we know lions don't like them, BTW?0 -
Bad food will kill us.
Except for Twinkies. Which will mummify us internally to be displayed at museums thousands of years from now.
So maybe that'll kill us, too. But in a pretty awesome way.0 -
I agree...we are all going to die of something even if it is just old age. However, I don't want to live my life deprived of things that I enjoy. As long as it fits in my calorie goal I am fine with eating it. Just like I told my kids...if you ever put me in a nursing home don't you dare let them give me pureed foods and thickened liquids. They asked but mom, what if you choke on real food? My answer? Then give me a cookie and let me die happy!!!!!!!!0

I'm eating mini cheesecake bites and pasta while reading this.

You may be closer to the truth than you might think. I have often felt that if a person's sense of taste and smell could be eliminated, they would only eat when hungry...and thus never overeat. Personally, I know for a fact that I have continued to stuff my face LONG AFTER I was full.0 -
This positively wears me out. Those actually living in the paleo. era did not live very long. Why it should upset you so much I do not know. Eat the way you want to and don't worry about those of us who choose to lose a different way. If it works for you, I say go for it. Me, I choose moderation as was said before.0

Terms like paleo automatically make me think you're brainwashed. So, yes I agree.0
