Lower Back Tattoos

Can they be cool/interesting/classy? Or are they always "tramp stamps"?
Personally I think it's unfortunate they get such a bad rap, since it's nice place for a tattoo.
But at the same time, I've never seen one in person that gave off a "classy" vibe...
What do you think?

All tattoos are tacky imo. One of my pet peeves.0

I am a huge fan of tattoos period. I don't care where they are so long as they are well done and have some meaning.0

I think all tattoos are eyesores. They make attractive people look kind of trashy. Just my humble opinion.0

i don't think most people get tattooed in order to come across as classy.
that said, my back is tattooed from my neck to my *kitten* and i am treated graciously and respectfully most everywhere i go.
obviously, i never go to garlicbutter's house. it's rather peevish there.0 -

+1 Judgmental Point for you.
LEVEL UP!0 -
Well it depends. If the tattoo is nice and simple, then no problem for me. But if its one of those huge ones that cover your whole arm or hand or something, then I'd rather stick to simple tattoos.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone0 -

You know what else makes people look kind of trashy? Judgmental comments.0 -
I am personally a tattoo lover. However, I have yet to see a lower back tattoo/tramp stamp that I like. That said....I also have one myself and well......8 years later I think it looks quite trashy. I have seen really well done pieces, but they still just strike me as.....not the classiest of tattoos. Then again isn't the idea of a tattoo being classy a little backwards? :P Good point to bring up though OP!0

That's true, I guess I'm asking more like, can a lower back tattoo be something other than what the stereotype is.
I also mean more like if it's by itself, not connected to a larger back tattoo, or one that runs up the whole spine.
(which would be cool and beautiful )0 -
One day, they will be known as "Granny Stamps", which will make them seen wholesome. I think they are sexy.0

I love well drawn tattoos. A friend on mine has tattoos over different parts of her body, and not only were they absolutely beautiful, but every single tattoo had a special meaning to her.
Now my personal choice is, I would never get a tattoo. But I can defnitely appreciate them. In a way, a lower back tattoo can be sexy.0 -

Never seen one that isn't trashy...0

I am forever trashy.0 -
I have a lower back tattoo and it is, of course, interesting, artistic, meaningful and classy.
I don't think a lower back tattoo is inherently trampy. Totally depends on the design. And the woman.0 -

So I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. This is just her opinion, one that many people share. She shouldn't be criticized for it.0 -
I have one and I like it.... that's all that really matters..... you should get your tattoo for you.... not for anyone else.0

I think lower back tattoos tend to look trashy not because of the tattoo but because of the kind of clothing that is often worn in order to show off that tattoo0

There is a difference between an opinion and saying someone looks trashy. I have 15 tattoos. I don't think I look trashy one bit and find this opion offensive.0 -
Generally, I am of the opinion that nothing peeking out between the back of your shirt and your pants is gonna be classy. That includes the refrigerator repair man butt crack, the pink thong, or what you so tastefully term the "tramp stamp". But as long as I don't have to look at it while eating, it does not concern me.0

according to some of you I am trashy and have no class at all!
sweet jesus pass me another beer *burps*

Well i feel like I'm classy. My tattoo on my lower back doesn't define who i am. If some want to call it a tramp stamp then they have totally got it wrong. Just my opinion.0

I've only ever seen about five tattoos that I've actually liked and thought 'yes, that was a good idea'.
But meh, as long as it's not my body...0 -

wait, so his opinion of tattoos is "judgmental" and therefore subject to ridicule, but your opinion of his comments is not also inherently judgmental? Logic fail! If he's being judgmental and is subject to ridicule, so are you.0 -

I have never understood why people who don't like tattoos have to be so rude about it. Granted, the OP asked for people's opinions. But really, saying that they make people look trashy and equating them with a lack of class does come across a bit rude and judgmental. LOL. Not that I really care what anyone thinks. Just an observation that I have always wondered about.
One of my favorite quotes: The only difference between people with tattoos and people without tattoos is that people with tattoos don't give a @#$% that you don't have any.0 -

This is just like Orwell's newspeak. Change the things people are permitted to say, either by directly forbidding it, or by ridiculing and ostracizing speech you don't agree with/that offends you. He never say anyone looked trashy, he never said you personally look trashy. He wasn't even thinking about you when he said it! He said that tattoos can make attractive people look trashy. Whether you agree or not (I personally do not agree with him), you should champion his right to say that. Free speech for everyone keeps everyone free. Let's not censor thought/speech that offends us or makes us uncomfortable.0 -

HA HA HA HA .... I LOVE THIS!0 -
I have no problem with tattoos and certainly don't think having one, or the placement of one, automatically equals trashy.0
