    Just had my first go at the 3 mile walk and loved it. Thank you again for the information. I definitely will make this a part of my exercise routine :-)

    Lots of ways to bump up Leslie. If I use light handweights (or weighted gloves) I tend to use my upper body more. More arm movements (especially over head) increase my heart rate a bit.

    I addition to jogging ....kicks & kickbacks can be "plyo" or hopping type moves. Leslie's 4 Mile Power Walk has lots of higher impact moves. http://www.collagevideo.com/workout-video/leslie-sansones-just-walk-4-mile-power-walk-6190

    A weighted vest would help to burn more calories (ankle weights ??? these seem a little scary).

    Also, a mini-trampoline can help someone who needs to stay low impact jog during the "boosts."
  • I do her 51 minute 3 mile walk with a resistance band. I try to up my burn by doing squats instead of her basic side steps and I usually jog in place rather than walk. All in all--it's pretty decent if not just a tad boring. I log it as low-impact aerobics. Definitely worth doing.

    She mentioned at a fitness conference that the 3 mile 46 min walk /aerobic exercise burns about 389 calories.

    This depends on your personal stats. Going with low impact aerobics should give you a close estimate.

    Low impact aerobics .... no choreography..... fast music keep you moving to the beat.

    Essentially you march in place for awhile, then switch to side steps for awhile, then switch to kicks ....... you keep changing up the moves to keep it interesting. Then you add some arms movements. For someone who loves choreography or loves to dance .... you likely won't like it. I've got 2 left feet & plenty of excuses not to walk outdoors .... this is a godsend for me.

    Low impact aerobics works best I think. Walking works too, but during the warm-up & cool down you are walking slower than 3.5-4 miles per hour.

    I did the 3 mile with stretchy band last night!! Gonna do it again tonight!!! Got the DVD at walmart for like $9 a couple weeks ago. Do you put it under low impact or high?? I have been putting in under low...

    I use hand weights on the 1 and 2 miles ones when I'm short on time and as per my HRM the 2 miles with hand weights burns about 350 for me.

    I like her Walk Slim dvd. It takes you on a 5 mile walk with 2 miles using resistance bands. You can pick and choose what mile or miles you want to do it. I LOVE IT!
  • I love her DVD that offers 5 different walks, ranging from 1 mile to 5 miles. 2 of them are using bands. They are fantastic! I felt energized and noticed a difference in my core almost immediately! And her DVDs are not very spendy - right around $10.00

    i have the 3 mile walk at home with the belt dvd and it is awesome only problem is popping it on my computer . it is good when i dont go to the gym so 2 days a week i will be doing it. just need to organize my schedule. good dvd will look at you tube to find some more for a change love the pace of leslie

    I loveeeeeeeeeeee Leslie!! A few of my co-workers started doing this during lunch time....during the a 3 month challenge of doing this for 30 mins/2x wk, I won by losing over 20lbs! I hands down live by Leslie Walk Away the pounds...AWESOME way to tone and burn some calories quick!
