Lululemon, worth it?

Whoa and no! I still have 'cheap' brands from the 90's and they still look as good as when I bought them....AND I've gotten excessive wear out of them. Most every piece 'wicks away moisture,' washes beautifully, hasn't pilled, or ended up "holy" enough for church. (Misspelling and pun intended.)

Funny, there's been a lot of gals who have asked me where I get my great workout clothes and they look shocked when I say "Oh, TJ Maxx, Target, Walmart, and *GASP* Goodwill."

Personally, my clothes have to be comfortable and move with me when I move. Sorry, but I have pants that cost less than ten bucks. Why buy ONE pair of pants from Lululemon when I can buy ten pair elsewhere and still look and feel good?

Purses...now that's another story. :bigsmile:

I need some new pants also. I borrowed a pair from my friend that were from Roots. I liked them, so I may try to get some there.

Love my Lulu stuff! It is expensive but they last forever and I think it looks great on.

I've looked at some of the men's athleta stuff (my GF likes their stuff), but haven't actually bought anything, so this is a very general comment.

I do believe that, if you intend to use something a lot (wear it a lot and/or be really hard on it), good stuff is worth paying for. I don't subscribe to the "anything will work just fine" mentality when you get beyond a casual user of a product.

I used to subscribe to the "not worth the money/cheaper stuff is almost as good" mentality...but the more I try the "expensive" stuff, the more I realize that most of the time, you truly do get what you pay for. Now that said, I don't know about Lulu specifically...and it truly could be overpriced for what you get...but if it's anything like other apparel companies, there *is* a difference. Saucony generally makes better running shoes than Converse. Under Armour is generally better than Starter. A higher-end LG washer and dryer are better than a budget model no-name. And not just "better", but often, the product lasts longer...which means ultimately, it may actually be less expensive to pay more initially.

This isn't to say that you can't "get by" with the less expensive stuff...but it also doesn't mean that the more expensive stuff is automatically "not worth it".

Old Navy is not bad, but I have to say that the quality of Lulu is beyond any other. You do pay more, but it is really worth it. They last!! Dont put in the dryer though.

You only need a few items and can switch them out. They also have great sales at Xmas and sale racks in most stores.

I agree that spending more on quality stuff is worth it. I don't like Lululemon. And they are overpriced beyond the quality. Maybe they just don't work for me. The clothing is not petite. And when I do downward dog, you can see my underwear. But, I do have a sweatshirt that I wear from there. I wouldn't be opposed to trying a shirt. I've never had luck with the pants. Maybe because I prefer cotton.

I love lululemon. It is expensive but honestly I haven't found any other shorts that I like as much as their speedy run shorts. Yes, a lot of other brands have the underwear inside and the pocket in the back but they are either almost the same price or they don't fit as well. I have spent $60 at Target buying running shorts that ride up or don't fit as well and I could have just bought one pair of lululemon shorts. I guess it depends on the item. For their jackets I would get Target or some other brand. I am just obsessed with their shorts though! And that really lightweight running top they have.....

I have Lululemon yoga pants, and they were well worth the price mainly because they retain their shape. I noticed that my cheaper yoga pants would stretch out during workouts to the point where they were sliding down. And, honestly, they are very flattering.

I swear I'm the only girl at my bar classes NOT wearing Lulu.

there's a brand at tj maxx and marshalls that I buy all my pants from. I can't think of the name and it's driving me nuts! the logo looks like a sidways spring almost. anyway, they are fantastic. they have a high waist which sucks in my pooch, they stay in place, and they make my butt looks good!

Whatever's on sale at Sports Authority and doesn't give me a rash in funny places is what I wear. I don't even know what Lululemon is. Is it like Juicy?

ugh yes totally worth it!

I do really like some of their stuff, but no more than I love my Nike gear. I would buy LuLu if I had a gift card, but since my money goes further with Nike (and they have sales far more frequently), I rarely shop at Lululemon. That said, what I do own of theirs, I have always been happy with.
