I had an old English Austin Marina. It was a standard, it didn't go in reverse, and only sometimes the indicator worked. My girlfriend and I would push it backwards when I had no choice but to park it somewhere that I couldn't pull out of forwards. And sometimes I would need to quickly roll down the window to signal. With rain, cigarette smoking and standard gears I felt rather coordinated and very cool. Those were fun days:)

1986 Camaro sport coupe 2.8. It was gutless. The A/C only worked for about a year. But other than that I never had a problem.

A red 1980 Datsun 200SX that my parents bought used for me in 1986. That's the year I learned who my real friends were.

1980 Honda civic hatchback. It had a hole in the floor so you had to drive with windows open or die from carbon dioxide

    1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport

My dad had a green Torino in the early 70's with the manual transmission on the steering column.
First and only time I've seen that.

My mom had a 1978 Mercury Cougar that had it on the steering column also.

The first car I ever owned was a '78 Mustang II... First car that I owned and actually managed to put on the road was a '81 VW Rabbit. I miss the old Rabbit, roof leaked, no exhaust, would randomly die but if you waited 5 mins it would fire back up and be fine... best POS car ever.

I love how people are "missing" their old POS cars

I sure don't miss mine! lol

Manual trans shifter on the steering column was normal thru the 40's and 50's and started to phase out in the 60's. Car folks call it "3 on the tree" versus "4 on the floor"

My first car was a Chevy Chevette, mid-80s I think, purchased in the late 90s. The floor was falling out of it. We used to joke that we could use it like the vehicles in the Flintstones if I ever completely lost the floor.
